I know there are a good many addons that give vendor values.  I would appreciate suggestions on which ones would be best!

or Aux, it has a built in one

.rar is a different format or a compressed archive just like .zip, .7z etc. 

Download 7zip (http://www.7-zip.org/download.html) and you can extract .rar, .zip, .7z easily.

Informant - it has a lot more info but you can only use the vendor value. (I have disabled a lot of the options)

I heard Aux is very good too, but it is mainly an AH addon, that has Informant-like feature.
