Mage Quest - Investigate the Alchemy Shop

Trying to complete this quest. . . .really not a tough quest. you go into a certain area . . . . use a scroll to summon two ghost'esque creatures. . . hurt them and then use a box to capture them ala ghostbusters. . . . 

 

the issue is that there are four level 55 elite guards that are in this room, (at least 40 ish yards from the OUTSIDE range of being able to summon), and they converge on these and kill them within 1 second.  . . .now some of you are going to say "kill them faster". . . sure sure. . . but this is a level 15 quest and some of us are working on our first toon and these are level 16 . . . so not exactly a mob you can one shot with an instant cast . . .

Are you doing the Blue Recluse quest?

Are you summoning in the cellar?

Oh and from what I experienced I just needed to use the crate, then loot the apparatus on the ground. Only one "ghost" spawned the first time because I used the other item as well.

I had difficulty with this quest as well. In my case, 2 ghosts were summoned, and the guards did not help me, they would target the mob but not make an attempt to attack it.

Eventually another mage came along to do the quest, so we helped each other, as the mobs have high resist chances and two were difficult to manage solo. My advice is to get someone to help you, as Im not sure the bugs of the quest will be worked out before its irrelevant to you.
