Immediate disco on login to world

Recommended Posts

I'm a new player, and have verified my account, and my control panel is showing my character I've made, so I'm assuming everything is in server side.  However, I get immediately disconnected upon logging into my character.  I've tried creating a new character on another server, and the same thing happens.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, the acct name and password is correct, and the server is up, as my boyfriend is waiting in game for me watching me jump in for a second, then sit as I get discoed.  I have also tried deleting my WTF folder, to no avail.  Also deleted WDB folder, still no go.  Set to windowed, still no go.

I get into the world for 1-2 seconds, then disco.  Please help.

Make sure you are operating as administrator.  Right click wow.exe and set to administrator.  Make sure you are launching from wow.exe and not any launcher if you have one.  If the wow folder is in program files, move it out of there.

Does your realmlist.wtf say: set realmlist logon.elysium-project.org  ?  if not, use notepad to write that in there.  If it already did, you can try using the IP address instead: set realmlist 164.132.233.125

Ok, still no go.  Here's what I've done.  I re-extracted the zipped file to the desktop.  I've set the realmlist to the logon.xxx and the ip.  I've set to run as admin.  To get the mouse working I had to set at service pack 3 compatible.  I've installed dx9.  I've renamed the realmlist file to realmlist.wtf and back again.  Everything is on the desktop.  My boyfriend's pc logs into my account just fine.  My boyfriend's acct is unable to log into my pc.  I've run as windowed and non-windowed.  I've deleted the WTF and WDB folders.  All of these my boyfriend did in proper troubleshooting fashion (one at a time).

Edit:  for clarification, on both my bf and my acct, we can log in to the acct, and log into the world, but upon getting into the world, it goes back to login screen as disconnected.  Maybe in the world for 1 second tops.

Ok, I'm the guy doing the work on Tormentillia's WoW and pc.  I've got her pc sitting right next to mine, and I can't see the difference between them.  Obviously it's something that's on hers that's conflicting, or something that's on mine that isn't on hers.  I put DX9 on hers, so that doesn't seem to be it.  Does anyone else have any more ideas?  Thanks for all the help so far.

So there's something up with her settings.  Try right click on wow.exe an tell it to use recommended settings.

Bingo!  So it's the compatibility.  I tried service pack 2, and it "worked", however I couldn't see the mouse cursor.  If you've never tried to play without knowing where your mouse is, you may be surprised to hear that it's a alot more difficult to do that you might think.  Finally, trying all the different compatibility settings, I landed on Vista, the DPI scaling option, and run as admin.  Now it's working.  Thanks again for the help.
