Is it normal that I need to verify my email address in order to play, even though I was able to play a few weeks ago?

Hi guys.

Started playing Elysium some time in November and loved it. Had to stop for a while though, because of real life things. But now when I come back and try to play again, I can't login, because apparently I still need to verify my email address.

I can confirm that this is the problem, because I was told by a support member on these boards that the email verification is still needed when I gave him my account name as part of the ban appeal process (that's what I thought the issue was: that someone had hacked me, used one of my characters to sell gold or something, and I had been banned as a result. Turned out not to be the case, though).

I should point out, that the other major issue here is I am one of those people for whom the "resend verification email" button does nothing, so I'm not sure how to complete the process. The usual advice I see on these boards when that happens is to just make a new account with a google mail address, because supposedly that works better, but since I've already played on my account and created characters that I like, I want to know if I can regain access to that one without starting over.

To make matters weirder, I am reasonably sure that the account is attached to a gmail email account already - but maybe it's just long enough in the past now that I'm forgetting I really used my microsoft email instead. Is there anyway to find out for certain which email my account is attached to? If it's attached to microsoft, is there anyway to switch over to gmail, so I can get my old characters back? And, if it already is attached to gmail, is this a special case of things having gone super wrong??

Thanks for your time.

Apologies, I just saw on the the page where you would go to create a new account, that it's explicitly stated that you can't change email address. So ignore that part of the question, I guess.
