Disconnected from Server. Now account is not recognized.

Hi,

I was disconnected from server, like a lot of people seem to have been but now it goes connecting, then straight to disconnect.

When I tried to log into the forums it says account is not valid, email is not valid, had to make this account just to post.

Looks like it was DDoS attack according to their twitter.

I spammed logon a few times and got on or they are getting it under control now. 

Character is dead but that was expected as I was in middle of a fight lol

they may have block whole ip ranges to slow down the DDoS and they will slowly open them back up, but that is just a guess

I just tried to logon like 6 times in rapid fire and got in shrug

Well in their defense DDoS attacks sux bad.

I manage my companies servers and our Colo facility for about a month kept getting hit and first few days were rough but they implemented massive security procedures to shut that down when it started. I know these guys don't have millions to throw at the problem like our colo did to implement the necessary changes to the infrastructure to shut down DDoS by algorithms that pick up the patterns instead of manually blocking the ip's that are doing the attack.

that only works if the people doing the DDoS are stupid and don't have hundreds of machines they have planted trojans on to do the attacks for them.

Not saying these are sophisticated coordinated attacks but banning wide ip's ranges could lock out tons of legitimate ip's until its sorted out.

Lol, i guess I just more empathetic as I have been on the periphery of the other side of the attack (the people trying to stop it)

Everyone thinks computer stuff is like tv you push buttons for 10 secs and everything stops or you hack the system...it really doesn't work that way

They probably do not even have access to the systems that are bearing the brunt of the attack.

The hosting company is really the place that should be taking care of the issue, not the developers of the game (2 almost totally separate things)

The hosting company should have the firewalls and programs and hardware to detect and stop these ...depends on the hosting company of course the smaller the hosting company the less likely they are to have massive money to put into the front line security.

Its a possibility for sure if they can't get the necessary measures in place to stop these as they are happening.

I don't know who their host are but it is probably bringing down their whole grid that uses that particular trunk so I am sure they are working on it (ok that was optimistic but you can hope)
