MacFierce 4 Report post Posted May 25, 2017 So far i've started; 1. a priest who is Tailoring/Enchanting, 2. a rogue who is mining/engineering I was thinking of going herbalism/alchemy with my mage, however, going back to vanilla has made me think about things i never thought of back in 2004. For example, when i was reading up on vanilla rogues to remember what they were like, the suggestion of going engineering/mining was brought up as a high end raiding must. All my rogues have always been skinning/leatherworking but i did recall the lead rogue in my old raiding guild back in the day was, in fact, engineering/mining. Is there any combo for a mage (especially in light of the two profession courses i have picked for my priest and rogue) that is considered a must do for high end raiding like Engineering/mining is for the rogue? Strangely enough, there aren't a lot of vanilla mage guides out there compared to some of the other classes, and none that i have found touch on the subject of professions.
Booguh 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2017 For end-game there are Mage only, Tailoring only items that are pre-raid bis such as Robe of the Archmage. So you'll want to level tailoring at least to get those items then drop it for something else. Additionally, while it might seem unusual, skinning. Lots of mage aoe farm areas for gold can be more profitable if you are able to skin what you farm as well, such s DM:N for example.
Kaben 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2017 The only professions that actually boost your DPS in raids are Tailoring (Robe of the Archmage and Bloodvine set bonus) and Enginering. If you find yourself starved fot gold or struggle to get your raidconsumes Herbalism and Alchemy is the way to go.
