Difficulty logging in after successfully creating acc.

I'm trying to help a friend get started, he has 1.12 and he created an account on the website. Went to the client, input information, got to handshaking and it said his information wasn't valid. I changed the realmlist.wtf file for him, checked it and it is correct. I can't think of any other reason he would not be able to log. (other than the obvious incorrect password, but we have tried numerous times.)

Please help fellow adventurers! We can't leave a fellow hero of the light behind!
