Also having this issue.  Can reset password, change password but character restore login displays "Wrong password or authentication rejected".  Tried with the random password from the reset process, same result "Wrong password or authentication rejected".  Now cannot login to the forums with my original account.  Had to create this new account to just get on the forums to look for a solution and post for help.  So, ummmmm, help.  

Elysium support please message this account in the forums and I will provide you account information for my original account that I would like to get fixed.  +thank

I am playing at official servers, but I wanted to feel old climate of WoW sometimes (e.g. while I don't have sub or something messed me up in the Legion). I was afraid of losing my account on this server because of problems with blizz or wipes. I wanted to progress slowly my char as I did in last decade. Today I cannot logged in, my account disappeared (reset password doesn't work) so my fears become truth.

Thank you for deleting my account, nowadays I know that only Classic servers will be that what I am looking for...

I made a post to this same problem.  I had to make a new account on elysium cause seem to have login issues with the old.  Very discouraging wanted to play some vanilla wow cant seem to even get to a server login screen.  Nighthaven server just launched a few days back was hoping to join them to start fresh.

Make sure you have the 1.12.1 client:

Make sure your realmlist.wtf says:
set realmlist logon.elysium-project.org

Make sure your your /WTF/Config.wtf contains this line: 
SET realmName "Nighthaven"
and this line:
SET realmList "logon.elysium-project.org"
