1.12.1 radeon vga

Recommended Posts

I'm getting weird artifacts in Ironforge and in Undercity also the evocation/windfury animation keeps flashing. I tried running the game in opengl, which solves every problem but then my fps goes from 200-483~ to 6-20~ fps... I'm running windows 10 btw. Anyone plays with an amd gpu having similar glitches? Maybe anyone knows a fix? I can't seem to find any info googling or checking this forum yet... If needed i will post some screenshots later.

Ty for the reply. Well at least i know that its not just here. Wondering tho if any fix for this?

I'm using an r9 290x which runs everything fine except vanilla wow 1.12.1 client which has these weird graphical issues. IF and UC random polygons like artifacting yet the card runs good, temps and everything is fine. I stress tested it for 6 hours yesterday without any problems so its not a hardware related problem but rather amd drivers or the game?

FFS I FIXED IT!!! (Sry for the caps!!!)

So basically my game were running on 200-483 fps and somehow the animation of windfury got f**ked up that the "whirling" stuff of the windfury animation somehow got lost. It was like "1 whirl disappearing [1 whirl disappearing]..." Terribly skipping animation frames? ~ No clue...

When i finally give up searching all over google and nostralius forum... i turned on vsync as a last try ... and boom windfury animation is "perfect" now.

It's super weird. The first thing i noticed now that i test this is that that turning on VSYNC in the game has no effect only if the game runs in windowed mode.

So if i set it to true fullscreen i can even use the Framerate Target Control in the radeon drivers to cap my fps to 60 or so but capping the game to 60 fps with the driver solves the windfury animation problem i've had but the random artifacting in UC and IF still exists.

Setting forced VSYNC in the radeon drivers have only one effect on my game. Forcing VSYNC from the radeon drivers boosted my maxfps to 638 but these glitches in UC/IF(artifacting) stayed the same neither true fullscreen neither windowed modes. It looks like the poligons go to the infinite ~ like a faulty card would artifact sometimes in a similar manner...

I have maximum antialiasing and ansirotopic filtering forced through the radeon drivers and they also have zero effect on the game.neither true fullscreen neither windowed modes.

Anyhow changing these settings the artifacting in UC/IF is seems completely random yet only affects a certain area in both city. In UC near the Apothecarium in IF near the windrider or griphon or what NPC and outside of the mage trainer in those long channels with the lava. I have no clue about them since these artifacts didn't appear a single time on this machine outside of these 2 areas in the past 1-2 months as far as i can tell... :SIGH:

So at least to fix the animations, either run the game in true fullscreen and limit the framerates with Framerate Target Control in the radeon drivers to 60fps or run the game in windowed mode and turn on the ingame VSYNC option. Anything over 60fps will start to cause flashes in the windfury/evocation whirling animation.

If anyone has any experience  with amd cards / drivers ~ vanilla wow 1.12.1 please share your experience / info, ty!
