I mainly agree with Undertanker's post. Enh+Resto can be a good all-purpose leveling combo. The only thing I'd do differently is I would go Enh first, because you can heal dungeons without resto talents up until Ulda I'd say. Getting a place as a dps and doing damage in that spec in general will take some effort in the other hand. Oh and don't take Stormstrike - it's a huge mana sink. Take Tidal Mastery and Nature's Swiftness instead since you're going Resto anyway.

You're right. There is no best strategy. It always depends on the enemy and setup. Killing some heavily-armored mobs will be better with as much spell damage as possible. Some paper casters - ARCANITE REAPER HOOOOOO~. Elites? Kite. I've done some Silithus cultists grinding as enh, and felt more confident using a shield. More mana in case if you pull adds, or someone tries to jump you. Less sitting on your butt waiting for an ambush. But if you really enjoy WF or something else... Go for it. Flexibility and knowing different approaches - that's what makes a good hybrid imo.

I disagree with one thing here. And it's the implication, that both parties are mad for a reason. Since when do peopl need a reason to be mad at and ridicule each other? You just have to like such kind of activity. Or the ego boost that you get from it. I've been playing retail for a short time at the end of TBC and the discourse was already there. At least on the russian retail forums. I remember it so well because that's the reason why I've started a classic guild there. Cata just basically killed classic content and thus became a cala-lyst for it's revival. I bet, the idea was there since the day TBC was announced, just not so many people were listening. Personaly, I'm glad, that it's much more popular now - hopefully some day we will even see more people not being elitists about that either

You're in luck then, because 5ppl content and PvP is where shamans truly shine. You may have some problems finding your place as a raid damage dealer to get good pixels for enh/elem, but you can still get some pretty decent ones through pre-raid and PvP alone. Also 5ppl content isn't that spec-critical, so, if needed, you can always put on your healing set and do just fine in most cases. It's a pretty decent hybrid - simply less defensive and more agressive than paladin. As of dps, you can do it - maybe not as good as pure damage dealers, but that's always the case. Some people will turn their noses of course, but, as I always say, don't turn your nose away from healing and team playing and they will change their minds. Being an experienced healer I bet you know it just as good as I do. You don't have to be a full restor to heal at battlegrounds; shaman talent trees mix pretty well, so you can find your own balance. I did shaman PvP in many specs including restor and elem (with enh being my main one). Honestly, I think, you'll be okay as long as you play smart. T1 restor with Herald of Woe wasn't that bad at smashing faces actually. You can always start your own groups and reserve the items you need. PvP is always a way to get some decent gear too - and that's what shadow priests are pretty good for anyway. I'd say go for it and figure it out on the run if being a shadow priest is what you want.

"Play what you like the most" is always the answer. Unless the fact, that your spec is not the strongest, turns you out from playing it itself, of course. It will take more effort to be a balancer of enh, but worth or not worth depends on your priorities. If you wanna be unique - go for it, get good at it and show them. You can make a journey for your own, but if you aren't looking for additional challenges, you can always go the more conventional way or try and find your own balance (no pun itended). As of a pair to a warlock, I'd say take a shammy. Support is always a better pair to a pure dps. Just be smart about it: gather and keep all those healing items, create your own groups going as a healer if nesessary. With the wl friend you'll only need a tank and then boom - summon whoever you want, also ss combined with reincartanion will be a second chance fest in case of wipes and you'll always have a (hopefully) good dps with you. That's what you get in return for being not a very good melee/PvPer. You can spec restor any moment and go get all those enh items you needed. Hell, most of the items that you need as an enh are either PvP or 5-10ppl content, so why even bother? And, at the end of the day, you're gonna use your head instead of pixels anyway. Noone's gonna need an "sorry I'm enh" in their party, but a really good shaman (support) playing his role even in that spec... That's a completely different story.

Hunter isn't even close to wl/sp because you must keep your distance and react with fd/trap/scatter. Pet and sting alone won't save you. You can do 1/3 - 1/2 damage against a melee with some raptor strike crits and deterrence, but good luck killing them unless they have the same lag or some other extreme disadventage.

Actually, forget what I said about druids, The second HoT and the ability to turn it into an instant heal as well as mobility should do the trick. Imo all the healing classes are about equal - just with their own specifics.

/cast Summon (Potroshishkin) Err... He must be afk... Well, as far as I remember, he was relying on Rockbiter and Earth Shock for one target tanking and on self-healing for AoE threat generation. And SS is cancer imo. But I was a PvP enh, so he's much more experienced in shammy tanking.

From melee specs I would choose shaman as the only one not tied to melee completely. You can counter enemy abilities with totems, slow from a relatively high range and keep doing damage/healing even if you leave melee range because of lag. All the others do seem even more inferior and unforgiving to reaction failures to me. Healers... It's hard to tell. I'd stick with HoTs and shields, but pally and shammy insta heals can save the day in case of a lag as well. And their saving abilities are cool. I would say just don't go druid. Casters... Definitely warlock, maybe shadow priest. DoTs and survivability > reaction based control in case of lags.

There's enough quests to level. Also you can take some brakes in between leveling sessions leaving your character in taverns and capitals to accumulate rested bonus and gain twice the killing exp while completing quests and doing dungeons afterwards. That will result in less effort and total time spent on leveling even though will ultimately take longer because of the downtime. People here are generally talking about racing towards the level cap, but it's not mandatory - you can just play for fun and have it at every single level.

For now combining those is the best solution as far as I know. Please let me know if you'll find something better.

Квесты на синюшку и даже некоторую зелень - это те самые исключения, из-за которых я говорю "стараюсь". За три месяца с запуска Элизиума, у меня рога 40 уровня и 32 маг. У роги ~270+ инжи и где-то около капа майнинга, у мага 150 инжи и под 280 тейлоринга (мегаватные и рунклотовые болты с рыбалки). Рыбачил, кстати, ещё с лоулевела: стак стоунскейлов в лучшие дни брали по 15 голд. Занимался перепродажей на аукционе, на 40 сразу купил маунта, причём денег осталось на маунта+обучение ещё двум чарам. Собрал обоим весьма неплохой шмот, роге сделал арена гранд мастера и тайдал чарму чисто для куража. Пвпшил, пока ещё прокало, опять же. Не ждал бы, качая мага, 39 баттлграундов, апнулся бы уже до хая таким макаром. Как-то вообще не проблема найти интересное и выгодное занятие, пока пати собирать лень. Но на Носте они, помнится, вообще в любое время суток куда угодно собирались.

Я стараюсь качаться исключительно в данжах - квесты за одиннадцать лет порядком надоели.

1) Как-то не: успел своим пристом на 60 побгшить - никто меня не гнул и не ломал. Я вообще несгибаемый и несдающийся неостановимый. 2) Рейды тем более пофиг. Особенно этот ваш бег в колесе на скорость. 3) Многие здесь знают моё отношение к ганку. 4) Мам! Мам! Смотри! Я китаец!
