  1. This should be a no-brainer. If you saw someone with the old mounts (I personally do not use them) you know they were one of the early players of the server, much like every blizzard server ever. It is basically a collectible item, for when they are no longer produced. For some reason, the staff decided to publicly announce that it was OK to buy pre-1.4 mounts, letting those who had no idea that it was bugged to go and buy it. It is clearly the bigger mistake by the staff, than the actual bug, encouraging the devaluation of a collectible item. Anyway, it is clear cosmetic stuff don't matter. If it was an item with stats, they'd have you remove them (with the scary ban hammer) like the AQ quest The Calling being completed without requirements bug on Old Nost. That was actually harder to fix, because ppl vendered these items/DEed them and were told to delete shards/remove gold - without really tracking this. Yet it worked, no one wanted to lose their chars over some NR blues. I personally want to know the thought process of why it was encouraged to abuse this bug instead of the banhammer scare/bluff approach? The concern here is the reaction of the staff to a bug, as opposed to the bug itself. The only excuse I can think of is that it was server launch and bad calls were made, yet these are not irreversible actions, why is nothing being done to correct Staff mistakes?

Is impale spec still the best threat spec?

Misinformation (exaggeration) in this thread. You don't need 18%+ crit unbuffed for Impale spec. You're fine to go Impale once you start using more crit consumes, world buffs and some TPS pieces like Savage Glad/Blackhand's/Lionheart/Onslaught/Accuria/etc. As for talents; once you have BWL gear you can drop Anticipation 5/5, try 3/5 if you want to experiment limits. Improved Sunder is NOT a necessity. It is literally a spam spell now in between Rev/Shield Slams/Shield Blocks CDs, which is budgeted. Your fury tryhards will help you stack 5 in the start while you use expensive skills. I recommend pooling max rage before boss fights for high initial aggro. I also dropped imp. Shield Wall along time ago because it is an emergency CD, not something you should rely on. I almost never need it, I just use it for the sake of it. Most important thing about Impale spec is to choose wisely how much threat gear you can getaway with depending on your healers/DPS threat/duration of fights. I personally have 4 stages of threat gear in a 17/3/31 Impale build. Full cheese, half cheese, quarter cheese and no cheese (full mitigation). Depending on encounters and world buffs.

  4. Heyo, First off, props to a great stress test. We all know queues are going to be a massive hurdle in the beginning for both PvP servers, perhaps even the PvE server. Other private projects and indeed Blizzard themselves have a queue-skip system in one form or another. I wanted to know if you guys are implementing any sort of queue management in order to assist players at peak server time from facing extended downtime on disconnects or restarts. If so, of the following, what are the most likely implementations? Queue-skip for accounts with a level 60 character. Queue-skip for disconnects with a 5-minute grace period. Queue-skip for monthly donation. (boo!) Pros:- Queue-skip for 60s: Level 60 players at peak EU/NA time don't have to wait in queue to join raids/BGs, more group activity at 60. Queue-skip for 60s: An extra incentive for lower level players to grind out the level cap for this boon and to level alts in the same account as your lvl 60 character to avoid queues. 5-min grace period: Helps players disconnecting/installing addons/resetting combat. Monthly donation system: Obvious financial boost at the cost of player experience. Cons:- Queue-skip will increase the average queue time. Implementation and testing. On Nost 1.0, we almost never saw the queue even with 12k people on, so I doubt the core has any implementation of it. Numbers likely being much higher for Elysium will certainly push those boundaries and I'd like to ask if anything has been planned or done for this issue? Thanks.
  5. Prev. nost team also nerfed DM North farming for Hunters. There was a backlash but hunters adapted. You're surprised they are consistent and nerfed DM East? Adapt or move to another project.
  6. @OP: вау off. Literally lagfree at 11k now. Give them a few days and it'll be fine. Learn patience, maybe meditate some of that entitlement away.

    hit rating

About Hit. It all depends on your top DPSers. If they push you on threat, you wear more hit + use more DPS consums. If you're at 8% hit and they are still pushing you on threat, get more crit with impale spec. There's no golden gear set perfect for all situations. Some guilds have spikey healers and need tanks with Lifegiving Gem on, so itemization changes around that. Some guilds have good healers and you need less defensive mitigation gear. Don't believe anyone when they say "This is the best item set for tank/threat/etc.". Use your own judgement for your own guild's requirement. I have an Optimal Tanking Sheet that is customized just for me, I don't advertise it as "optimal" for everyone, but for me. Take what others say with a grain of salt and play as you need. Regarding enchants, I personally put anything 2.00 speed or below with +15 agi.

There should only be one general forums. I agree though, realm specific forums should be added. Under "Realm Discussion" forum tab perhaps: Nostalrius PvP Nostalrius PvE Elysium PvP

    Queue Management

A grace period is necessary regardless of queue time. The nature of seemingly random server kicks, not to mention combat bugs which occur more and more with smaller draw distances makes it necessary. Nost players already know the pain of combat bugs. eg. Running while mounted and having things aggro you but not drop combat because you've run out of their view distance. Those mobs become "stuck" in a combat phase. Anyway, these are just examples of why a 5min grace period should be implemented. Especially if queues are 3k+ which they surely will be.
  13. Did you make an account (Play tab)? If so, verify your account. If you did both, than check if you're using your game account info and not the forum info. You could always make another account and try. I personally transferred 6 accounts without an issue and can log them any time.

    Queue Management

Bump 5min grace period? Combat bugs, random DCs are quite common. Raiding will be hell if those stress test random kicks occur with no queue protection. Not to mention blizzard had this system. Would like to hear why the devs are reluctant to reply on this matter.
  15. @Papajimboh: You can donate small amounts via PayPal at the control panel. It pays for both web hosting and server hosting if no one donates the big bucks directly to OVH host. Seems a lot of folks are confused about the donation system. The announcement left too much room for interpretation. The staff should make the clarifications more visible.

    Token consumed

If somebody knew your account u/p, they could have easily taken the account. Since the token Nost generates with u/p is not sent to the email address, but shown on the website. Any new Elysium account can claim it. In hindsight, all Nost accs with a registered email should have had their tokens sent to their emails, regardless of using u/p or u/email. If you shared your information after the shutdown with untrustworthy folks, you know who took it. I don't know if the Elysium Team will have the resources to review each case. For me personally, I was able to recover all 6 of my accounts from Nost/Elys. Hope the best for all y'all.
  17. They are makin' history. 'Nuff said.

    Queue Management

Queue-skip for 60s is a special feature only some do. The idea behind is clear, keep level 60 activity high. Meaning more 5/10mans forming, more people joining BGs, opening more games, more raids, more pug raids, so on. It basically favors group content over solo content. Leveling content is solo, yes? You don't need group to participate, so you wait in queue, get in, level as you would. If you get DCed or combat bugged, you got the 5 min grace-period covering you, so you can still do small group content that occurs when lvling. The issue is Level 1 characters parked scouting herbs/ world bosses, banking, auction house surfing, so on are wasting those precious character slots away from level 60s needing 40 people to raid or 40 people to do AV, so on. The cost of all of this is a) longer queues more development work.
  19. It was like 15 or 25 mins respawn time on successful kill a few months before the shutdown. We had ~130+ ppl in queue on the forums until they patched the respawn time.

IT DROPED. (Yes, I won it! Was later kicked from this Spanish raid for not knowing how to tank Drak, it was my first ubrs ) The only tank without Quel'Serrar. Feelsbadman (This is before target markers was in the game, so raid leader manually assigned Garr adds, took forever!) Rag emerge Ress pls? MT went AFK at Onyxia Jelly of a dead Orc in Ironforge. Sweet, sweet Wrath.

    Queue Management

Taking the final stress test as an example, you'd notice many people (including streamers like Orcbit) being stuck in queue after multiple random disconnects. Happened to me twice in succession. Will there be a grace period of 5 minutes at least?
  22. Bring less people to the raid/wear non-optimal gear pieces/don't use buffs/don't use talents properly (that's a first, kudos, gotmilk, you've found a new level of rock bottom)/let your 4 yr old nephew click buttons instead, all these non-suggestions need to stop. Kronos "fanboys" on their forums always had this kneejerk reaction when people suggested buffing content, know what kind of reputation Kronos raids have now in the vanilla community? You guys honestly seem scared of change, as if improving the vanilla emulation scene to be closer to mimicking the real experience is a scary idea for you, or something you cannot picture. So, gotmilk. Let me get this straight; 1.12 talents do make content easy, but buffing them won't make them approach "true difficulty"? I ... don't ... even. What the вау is even "true difficulty"? Difficulty with 1.1 talents? "Even if we somehow had patch 1.1 talents, things would not be that much harder", guess not. Why do you guys play vanilla WoW if you don't want to be part of emulating the real experience? Think of buffing methods, not the idea of buffing. The following are just a glimpse of the array of tools Elysium Team and all other developers have in their toolbox. HP/Dmg boost: Increase duration of fight, force gearing to be more critical (defensive tanks, endurance heals/dps), increase effectiveness of time-based phase mechanics (like Ragnaros submerge) Altered timers: Timers applying phase change/other mechanics can be made more unpredictable with ~1-10 second time change rolls. Making boss timer addons less useful. Increased boss ability frequency: Boss abilities could occur more often than the classic tuned version. Eg. more Wrath of Ragnaros. Increased range of boss abilities: For example Magmadar fear can now also hit hunters/max-ranged dps/heals. Forcing a fear-break rotation to keep the MT up. Increased effectiveness of add spawns: HP/dmg/abilities or just plain more adds to deal with. Eg. Sons of Ragnaros/Razorgore Phase 1 increased orcs/dragonkins to force kiting strats like retail, instead of killing everything with 1.12 talents. Talents nerfed until revamped patch: Eg. PvE Fury DPS (currently top DPS in 1.12) did not exist prior to patch 1.6 when Bloodthirst was redesigned. In 1.12, BT could be nerfed to scale less with AP to mimic the uselessness of this original 31-talent point skill so DPS warriors use Arms spec, as they did from patch 1.1-1.6. Same thing with Prot Warrior being the best tank, nerf Shield Slam so Prot Warriors don't go deep into the prot talent tree like they did prior to revamp patch. These are ideas I came up within 10 minutes. Admins/Devs who have invested a lot more into the scene could think of way better methods. It's a question of whether people want them to try and emulate the "true difficulty" or just accept the current level of tuning all recent private servers have accepted as standard tuning. I highly suggest you be part of the movement that wants vanilla private server generation to move into the next level - to come closer and closer to the experience we all loved back in 2005-06, if you have experienced it back then - instead of being people who hold it back.
  23. Gotmilk, you underestimate the talent difference. it's not a "5-10%" flat buff requirement, it is a completely different encounter with older talents. the way you approach a fight. Tanks were in arms spec. If you didn't bother reading my post. This means tanks threat generation and defensive mitigation were much lower than the current talents, to the point where it would effect the entire raid. There was NO fury warrior in PvE - the highest DPS PvE spec. There were only Arms warriors because Bloodthirst did not exist the way it does now. This is just a few examples. Do you still not see the significance of newer talents making current content easy? Rogue, arguably the number 2 DPS got their talent revamp in patch 1.12, AFTER Naxxramas was fully released. Progression even in Naxx involved older talents for rogues. Do some research before you make claims like "this won't do that, it will do this", back it up by facts. “Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored.” ― Aldous Huxley, Complete Essays 2, 1926-29
