    Tanking at 60

I often put a skull on caster/cloth melee and tell dps to go nuts on it, then I wont need to tank it and I can focus on the rest of the pack. After the caster is dead (a few seconds time) I will have enough AoE threat on the rest to handle it with ease.

LF PRO RAIDING TANK (MT) lvl 40+

You could just ask them here in this thread. The advantage being that other peoples maybe learning a thing or two from the questions and answers aswell. The point of this forum is to share knowledge.
  8. We dont want sub-human-retail-pleb-trash anyways.
  9. With the optimizations, tryharding and worldbuff stacking going on these days I'd say your main concern would be having the Tank putting out maximum TPS. Threat is more often a concern these days than tanks dying (except for a few bosses I suppose). However, I'm actually not disputing the fact that TF can indeed be utilized in a good way by a paladin, but I'm still maintaining my position that it's better used by a warrior tank.
  10. Thank you for the update and thank you for your hard work! I'm clawing my walls over here in withdrawal:D

    Anathema PvP — Unexpected Downtime

I'm pretty sure everything is frozen for the duration of the downtime.

There's no such thing as IP-ban. Never has been. Even if you'd hand out IP-bans, all you have to do to get around that is: 1. Reboot router - if the ISPs DHCP is configured with a short lease-time = OBTAIN NEW IP 2. Turn off router for the duration of lease your ISP uses - Turn on when the alloted time has passed = OBTAIN NEW IP 3. VPN - If you for some strange reason got fixed IPs from your ISP (I dont know a single ISP that does this with private customers unless specifically asked to) EDIT: Stuff. EDIT #2: Technically illiterate plebs <3

    Anathema PvP — Unexpected Downtime

    Back to that steam/Netflix/HBO-backlog then.
  14. ^This pretty much. The limiting factor in 2005 was hardware for the most part. The limiting factor in 2017 is software. As the Nostalrius team said, the server software starts to get cranky at around 15k players and that is one of the main factors of the Nostalrius lag.

    Anathema PvP — Unexpected Downtime

That is because it is, and so are all private server projects. They are run by mostly young, inexperienced but passionate hobbyists who love the game and the community around it. Was this response sarcasm?
  16. If this was a response to me, I'd like to point out that I agreed with you in your thread yesterday aswell.

And you are obviously a troll so I wont even dignify you with a serious response. Good day sir.

It's not that simple. Think one step further and dont act like a child. Nostalrius was shut down 100% volutarily by Nostalrius-staff in an act of good will in order to build a working relationship with Blizzard. As someone else already has pointed out, OVH hosts TONS of other servers like this and Blizzard lacks both the legal pull and actual will to even be bothered. Now THAT would actually put them in legal jeopardy. Hosting a private server for free is legal, or at worst in a legal grey-area. Charging for the service would instantly make it impossible though. You arent helping anyone by implying corruption. You are infact doing the opposite of helping.
  19. The high respec costs of vanilla is one of the main driving factors in forcing players to refine their role. Gearing and spec choices matter and that is one of the main key ingredients in an MMORPG.
  20. I would like to point out that 1-2k players may indeed have been a healthy population in retail vanilla but that has changed because the way we play the game has changed significantly. In vanilla I played on Al'Akir-EU which at the time was one of the more populated realms, yet you'd rarely see pugs form for ZG/MC, let alone BWL. The raiding and casual community was more split. Raiders raided with their guilds and casuals mainly just did 5mans, ubrs and occationally PvP. What has changed is that a great many (even casuals) will strive to raid ZG/MC with pugs and this means you'll need a larger population to support that shift in play-style. With an average population of 1-2k most of the raiding done will be done within guilds alone, meaning less organized community events/pugs. TLDR: 1-2k pop was healthy in vanilla. It is not anymore due to a major shift in the way we play.
  21. Back in 2012 they merged the Emerald dream server of feenix with another server I believe went under the name "Core"-something and it was a moderately successful merge at the time.
  22. Exactly my point. Anathema peaks around 5-7k these days and by addon Zeth you'd get a peak of 8k maybe. You raise many valid points. I would like to point out though that Nostalrius started to lag at around 10k but it only got "really bad" when it peaked around 15k and it was at this point that you really started to notice the delay to ingame windows/functions/services like mail and massive decrease in draw distance. As I have pointed out above; a merge between Anathema and for example Zeth'Kur would most likely end with peaking populations around 8k which is well bellow the limit where you get noticable lag. You'll always have a flow and influx of new players though. People that has grown tired of retail wow and want to return to the glory days, or simply people who dont even know we exist as an alternative.
  23. My point was merging 4 servers into 2 which (might) reduce it by half but as it turns out there are indeed many factors to consider such as PvE vs PvP, progressive time-line etc. Infact, it is possible that some, or even all the servers are ran on the same Hardware but different VMs which mean there would be no gain at all from a hardware-cost perspective, I guess only admins can answer that question. However, if all are run on the same hardware, we'd still gain some cohesion by a merge by uniting a fractured community, streamlining content release. After all, it's easier to develop, maintain and release patches for 2 servers instead of 4.
  24. Alright, thanks for clarifying! And yes that would indeed be a solution in the right direction. If you want to keep population imbalance in check between servers you'd want to merge Anathema and Zeth'Kur but then we're back to the issue of massive gap in content.
  25. I believe both Darrowshire and Elysium is PvE, I might be wrong ofcourse. Personally I only play on Anathema. You either merge a PvE with a PvE server which will be highly unpopular among both populations for obvious reasons, or you merge two servers of the same kind but in different states of progress with also will be unpopular for other reasons (although I think the second option is the lesser evil). I realise this and you probably got alot of people agreeing with you. Likewise I also see people complaining about the low population. Either way, in the end it may be necessary for economic reasons.
