  1. Exploiting lifestealing scaling w/ SP doesnt make u good bro, and doing over 500 dps on a boss fight doesnt make a class viable... Taking a debuff slot on a boss fight just so u can compete with properly geared hunters is usually a no for a competent guild...

However on topic no ret pala is not good in PvE, but you dont need to be good to raid on alliance side.

wow, someone is really mad here...

  2. "Consecration

    Coefficient

The coefficient have been the same From release to nowadays. Except, weirdly, in TBC expansion patches.

Consecration deals 32% of bonus spell damage, and 32% of Attack Power, distributed evenly among 8 seconds.

The damage done can be increased by up to 10 % with the protection talent One-Handed Weapon Specialization."

    http://vanilla-wow.wikia.com/wiki/Consecration

    :o

that was during WotLK - Consecration never scaled with AP until then

during Vanilla and TBC it only scaled with spell dmg and/or Judgement of the Crusader

  3. The wowiki about paladin consecration was added by someone trolling the Private server community. It was not blizzlike, and was a known bug on Nost. Glad they fixed it!

yea if you look at the wowwiki edits - it was written in by a player well after TBC came out - and from personal experience and knowledge I can say that it wasn't until WotLK that Consecration scaled with AP

through Vanilla and TBC it only scaled with spell dmg and/or Judgement of the Crusader

that being said, using Seal of the Crusader + Consecration was fun and a nice alternative to use in place of bugged and not working Seal of Command

now that we have a working Seal of Command we can use our actual blizzlike abilities

  4. I was searching through Blizzards archives and you may actually be right Theloras, I am looking deeper into it now.

  5. Now it's not great dps but I mean let's be honest here 'TOP' guilds means they're better than most. This means most are just average but will have no problem in MC/BWL etc. So joining most guilds and doing this kind of damage will be absolutely fine.

Here's a video of some german guy with his guild on Nost

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRIDIPWPE9c

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uwneivRDpjA

Of course no "top" end guild would want one but again most are just average and will still clear the content and will take you if you beat other dps.

Optilasgar was average overall imho and could have done much better in those videos - Smiter blows him out of the water.

  6. Like if you geared to feed all your damage into holy damage instead of physical, or hybrid? Or do the % scalings from ret tree just trounce this?

you go for a 1handed SoR spec/playstyle like the one developped by Saphael using Ironfoe:

    SAPHAEL'S 1HAND SOR RETRIBUTION SPEC
If you would prefer to follow a more hybrid playstyle and gearset, there are two additional ways of gearing up and doing damage. Both of these require that you use Seal of Righteousness instead of Seal of Command and would therefore necessitate a different talent spec.

Full credit to this 1hand Spell Damage gearset and play style goes to Saphael.

    GAMEPLAY
Your main abilities are Judgement of Seal of Righteousness, Consecration R1 & you will need to have SoR up all the time.

When you are on single target's you will be judging SotC first, then change to SoR (never stop judging SoR, but have SotC up on your target). Always have Consecration R1 up, and never use a higher rank, because you will go OOM. There is possible to use a higher rank of Consecration, but then you should have done the math beforehand to be sure of not going OOM.

    STAT PRIORIZATION
I will only calculate my numbers as a Human, so Dwarf paladins is not included in these numbers(Humans and Dwarfs have different stats). Also I will not go into absolutely every detail so hang in there, I'll try to make it as easy as I can.

    INFORMATION
This is indeed a mana-consuming build, but in my point of view it's the best and most viable build for an Retribution Paladin. From years of experience in high-end continent as an Retribution Paladin, this is the way to go.

I will calculate using numbers from the BiS-peraid gear, when fully buffed up from the "mini guide" I made above. Also class buffs is included in these calculations.

Indeed, you clearly want the 8% hit.

Afterwards you should concentrate on having enough melee crit to have a fair amount of vengeance uptime(15% increased physical and holy damage). You can easily check how much uptime you have by using this formula: 1-(1-(crit/100))^(8/weaponspeed). In this case it will be: 1-(1-(32/100))^(8/2.4) = 0,72 | You will have an vengeance uptime with 72%. In addition to the 72% uptime from white-hits, you have a judgement that you use every eight second. So that will increase your vengeance uptime.

So that's the formula, but it's not accurate according to my gear-setup. Since you have Ironfoe and Hand of Justice this adds more white-hits, which means that you will have a better vengeance uptime than what you have calculated.

Before you start to think about how much spell power and strength/AP that you need. Take a deep breath, then try to find out how your mana-sustainability currently are. You can check that by doing this:

    Mana from abilities pr. min (without any buffs or manaregain)= 90 (Judgement) + 170 (SoR) + 135 (Consecration R1) = 395 * 10 = 3950 | 3950/80 = 49,375 * 60 = 2962,5 mana pr. min.
Manaregain= 76 MP5 | 59 MP2.4 (JSoW) | 156 MP5 (DR, MMP) | 15,2 + 25 + 31 = 71,2 MP1 | 71,2 * 60 = 4272 pr. min. (Take in account that Ironfoe and Hand of Justice procs is not in these calculations, so in reality you gain even more mana (JSoW). I can calculate how much mana you gain with these items also, if you fancy it.

Note: You can clearly see that mana is not an issue if you use consumables.

Spell power is indeed important, since SP is stacking with your abilities (SoR, JSOR, Consecration).

AP is important also, since your white-hits contributes a lot of your total damage, so you'll need to balance these out by using all-stats sets like: Soulforge Armor, Judgement Armor, Avenger's Battlegear.

    Stamina is self-explainatory.

I can get more into spirit another time if it's desired.

    SUMMARY
Priority order: Hit - Crit - Mana - Spell power & AP - Stamina - Spirit

Note: crit and mana is something you'll need to calculate as mention above, so when you have enough to be sustained, the other stats will of course be more of importance.

  7. also no mention of the "One-Handed Weapon Specialization" talent in the prot tree

but still a great overall day for Paladin patch note fixes!

    -edit-

Also in regard to "Fixed the scaling of Seal of Righteousness."

perhaps they are referring to this:

"This is a moot point for Paladins who use Seal of Righteousness, or who choose not to melee. Seal of Righteousness works best with faster weapons, and has a spell damage coefficient of 0.2. Weapon DPS and procs are therefore largely irrelevant."

    http://blue.cardplace.com/cache/wow-paladin/1126317.htm

Most people think/thought that SoR had a spell damage scaling of 10% for 1hand and 12% for 2handers.

    • Mechanics
    • -Players and NPCs can no longer obtain Holy resistance by any means. (level-based resists and general spell hit rules still apply to Holy spells)

    Paladins

    • Consecration no longer scales with attack power.
    • Fixed Seal of the Crusader’s damage reduction effect.
    • Seal of Command’s proc now benefits from Sanctity Aura and has a small delay when triggered.
    • Fixed the scaling of Seal of Righteousness.
    • Seal of Righteousness can now trigger mainhand weapon procs.

  8. Holy Resistance was previously bugged on Nost (common error on all private servers) and players were able to gain it with certain items/abilities that provided +resist to all spell schools.

However, I have it on good authority that since at long last the debate on whether it should exist or not has been finally put to rest, that the Devs will be initiating a server wide fix that would nullify any +Holy Resistance found anywhere in the game.

This is of course not the same as a higher level mob having a +level resist which adds +5 resistance to all schools (including Holy) for each level above you at level 60 which would add +15 Holy Resistance to a level 63 raid boss for example.

Holy resistance will not be a thing Crestfall. The 126 mask thing is correct is but, as others have stated, it was a remnant from the beta period before holy resistance was replaced with arcane resistance. The items and spells that use aura/mask 126 to give +res to all schools are overwritten by a server-side modifier, as proven by the videos from retail vanilla where holy spells do not get resisted in PvP combat. The only chance for resistance is from the level difference, so a level 63 raid boss has a chance of resisting spells, just like with any other school.

  9. linking raidstats of фекал guilds where everyone has average 300 dps doesn't mean that player or the spec is good

I'd rather be in a фекал guild as you put it than be in yours which is full of complete douchebag human beings who take a 12 year old video game much too seriously...

    But that's me!

  10. If you really want it I guess you can find a guild that takes you into their raid roster, but there were like 100 alliance raiding guilds on nost, makes what... 500 paladins? 3 of which were ret?

I'd say there was about a baker's dozen of raiding Ret Paladins or thereabouts
