    [GUIDE] Tank Resist Gear

A Resist set should equally value Stam and Resist on a 1:1 ratio. Fire Resist: Helm of Might w/ +20 FR. should be strongly considered and is equal to if not better than Dark Iron Helm. Provides 10 less points of Stam + FR than Dark Iron Helm, however gives dodge, 7 def and 30 unbuffed AP. Shoulders: Pauldrons of Wrath (second BiS) Provides 17 more points of Stam + FR than Dark Iron Shoulders - which you state. Also gives block value for shield slam damage, 7 def and 26 unbuffed AP. Fireguard Shoulders (BiS) Provides 30 more points of Stam + FR than Dark Iron Shoulders, better than T2 for pure FR on Rag. For tank + FR T2 shoulders for BWL drakes and MC trash. Cloak: Fireproof Cloak (BiS) Chest: Breastplate of Wrath Provides 10 5 more points of Stam + FR than Chromatic Flight. Also the high def is > the avoidance from agility gained on Chromatic Flight Bracer: Bracelets of Wrath Provides 2 more points of Stam + FR (they have no FR), but gives more EHP and AP. I'd highly recommend that Wristguards of True Flight be used once you obtain your other BiS pieces to increase threat in your FR set. I understand not adding to list though since no FR on them. Gloves: Gauntlets of Might Highly recommended as well as an alternative to obtain the + threat, though for a pure FR standpoint, Dark Iron gloves are better for EHP+FR. Belt: Lava Belt (BiS) Legs: Emberweave Leggings (BiS) Boots: Sabatons of Wrath (BiS) Same Stam+FR as Core Forge but more Def and Block Value for threat, and 26 unbuffed AP. Ring Slot 2 (to pair with Ocean's Breeze) Archimitro's Ring of Reckoning for increased EHP, or Band of Accuria (or any +hit ring) for more threat depending on raid dps. No FR on the item I understand if not on the list. Trinket Slot 2: (to pair with Onyxia's Trinket) Blazing Emblem (BiS) use the cooldown in the event that your pally gets knocked back out of range, dies, or shammy totem expires, shammy dies. Weapon: Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker (BiS) More EPH+FR than Alcors, + threat. You mentioned it on NR set so you should have on FR set as well. Dark Iron Reaver More EPH+FR than Alcors Ebon Hand More EPH+FR than Alcors, DPS and has a proc. Shield: Elementium Reinforced Bulwark is (BiS) due to the high EHP and increased shield slam damage once you get other BiS FR pieces. No FR on the item I understand if not on the list.

Snide's END GAME MT TPS Guide for EXPERIENCED Tanks

Your weapon choice for TPS is incorrect. This is also counter-productive to your trinket choice of HoJ. Your white hit damage is very low using a 1.3 speed making the extra swing much less beneficial. A DMC: Maelstrom with it's bad proc rate here would still be better. A Diamond Flask for 75 Str for 1 minute would be far better, and while Diamond Flask is on cooldown swap to Blackhand's Breadth. For Mark of the Chosen, for threat in mind, this is too much RNG for 1.25 crit, 50 AP (unbuffed) you'll notice that it doesn't even go off during your AoE tanking and boss pull. Blackhand's Breadth 100% uptime will be more reliable. Not sure if DMC and Flask are available to you yet. In your tank video for Luci you are tanking a mob (the boss in this instance) that is being DPS last!. There is no reason to be using threat gear on that pull if you are not tanking the primary kill target. You need to adjust your set-up per pull, and not take unnecessary damage putting additional stress on your healers. This adds to more heals needed, more mana used, more down time. Nobody was going to get close to threat yet you burn a rage pot. You'd be better off saving that one or if you felt compelled enough to burn your cooldown, a health potion/restro pot would have been ideal for your situation. Tanking is 3 parts. Threat / Positioning / Limiting Incoming Damage. This is critical to all inspiring tanks to understand. You are also prioritizing your rage on Heroic Strike over Sunder armor and leaving small windows of having to wait for rage for revenge / shield slam due to this. Stop this. Changing your tanking weapon to a much slower swing timer should help you with this transition and your average Attack Power will be much higher due to the adjustment proc rate of Crusader from based weapon speed. Also be sure your pally is always in range of Ret Aura. Also your warlock needs to ensure Fire-Shield is always on you. Parry reduces your swing timer, increasing rage gains = more threat abilities possible. Your advise on anticipation for 5 man spec is backwards. +Armor in 5 mans will be more beneficial than +Def. For a tank that is just starting to gear up, imp revenge would be the key talent to take as most of 5 mans is fighting trash and the stun will help with rage starved multi Mob Tanking. PS: Molten Core is not end-game.
  3. Lol AQ out for 2 weeks "everybody in AQ gear". Don't listen to ignorance. Bosses drop 2 MAYBE 3-pieces of loot. 40 people in raid, even more total in guild. Not all drops are useful. 17 gear slots per person. Only a handful of guilds have killed C'Thun. It will be several months before even the top end guilds have the majority of their people close to where they want to be AQ gear wise. People are still chasing MC/BWL loot (select pieces) "Wont be able to do anything against them" In Vanilla, tier discrepancy is much smaller than in retail. Just because an item drops from BWL/AQ, doesn't mean it's the best loot.

This guy takes no points in parry... I closed the vid once we started talking about his gear. So much is wrong. I'll do a further breakdown of the bad information provided when I have time tonight. Gonna be a lot.

Snide's END GAME MT TPS Guide for EXPERIENCED Tanks

@Mods Just because it says guide doesn't make it sticky worthy. A lot of incorrect information given, and this will now cause more bad specced new tanks. @Garun Imp Taunt still has a lot of value. Taunt has a 17% chance to miss as it is a spell. With imp taunt you can counter the resisted taunt by using mocking blow and taunt will be available again PRIOR to mocking blow falling off to prevent the boss/mob turning off. In the event of a double taunt resist, challenging shout and taunt is available again before that falls off as well. Impale vs 8/5/38 spec is about a 3% to 4% dps difference depending on buffs. Not not a 4% threat difference, just damage. The difference in threat is much smaller. When rage gains were broken and you spammed Heroic Strike with a 1.3 speed, impale was much better. That is no longer the case. It is much better to spec with all your def/mitigation talents in the prot tree and use more hit/agil/crit gear as needed on a situational bases.

    Raid Repubilc

When server first opened I was tanking MC at level 58 and got first epic tank loot (Boots) that I couldn't use. BTW, he wasn't the worst healer in that raid. He did quite well for his gear compared to the competition.
  8. Weapon skill +axe racial is 1h only, not for 2h.

"Mid tier DPS" just an urban myth?

You are correct. OP is adding the hunter pet damage twice. Also certain fights are not dps races. This is not MC/BWL. Mechanics have to be respected.

    General Angerforge loot table

I'm at 132 UBRS runs and still havn't seen plate NR tank helm. I've seriously just about given up. The time I used to spam run Rend/UBRS is now invested in AQ20 weekend mornings when I get home from work, or farming for raid consumables.

    Raiding Time Sink

You'll find that once you have your 5 man instance gear ran, your play time per week is actually much lower at level 60 compared to leveling if your goal is 3/4-1 level a day. This is especially true with limited content, as you only need to invest a couple hours a week total for full consumables, maybe an hour of farming if you want to go just mid tier consumables. For just MC + Ony and farming your consumables you are looking at 3 hours a week, maybe 3.5 hours total in game time with like Storfan said world buffing and what not. Compare that to the amount of time it can take to grind a level in the 40s-50s which can be about the same depending on class. This is where "raid loggers" are born.

Buying weapons and armors when leveling

No. Just use w/e weapon you get, and go to the auction house for any cheap upgrade. Make sure you have at least a white bow / gun since a lot of your pulls will be shooting from ranged and pulling it to a save spot.

Tune AQ40 same as you did with BWL/MC

15 Resist Holy Resist. Why you want higher damage when you getting 2 shot from Hakkar?

Going Prot at 58 - hindsight is a beautiful thing.

If you are prot spec you shouldn't be using revenge / shield block / or even defensive stance while questing, grinding. Only when you need to solo an elite or something would you be spamming shield block and revenge only. Just keep Battle Shout up, get a weapon with a proc on it, and shield slam, stance dance to zerk for zerker rage, and go back to arms if overpower procs. Use Rend at the start of the pull, if mob is still over 50% when it expires, apply rend again.
  16. [Alliance] 40-Man Raids: Current Progression MC - 10/10 BWL - 8/8 Onxyia 1/1 Tuesday & Thursday 7:00pst - 10:00pst / 10:00est - 1:00est *Sunday evening for progression if needed* About Us: <Thundercats> is an established raiding guild dating back to the Nostalrius initial server launch in 2015. Our focus is to provide raiding availability to the late night east coast, stand time west coast player base. We have had dozens of R11, a few R12/13, a couple R14s and many people love PVPing on alts or mains as well as world PVPing when we're trying to farm. We're about 7.5/10 on the serious scale and I've found it's immaculate for an MMORPG. We use Loot Council as our preferred loot distribution system with a wish-list that you will submit to your class leader. This is to ensure those that are regularly available, using consumables, perform on par with their gear level, and show proper situational awareness in a raiding atmosphere are rewarded for their efforts. Transparency is key. Standards are to know your class' mechanics, consumables, and pre-raid BiS. We can help you, but there is a standard of bare requirements you should be entering the guild with. We want to encourage a loving environment where you aren't flamed for asking questions, we all are trying to improve and we help each other with that at every opportunity. We are always looking for players who fit our play-style regardless if you are a longtime player on the server, or just starting out. One of our main DPS warriors joined us at lvl 7 while we already had all available content on clear. This anonymous player asked if applying at 7 was a waste and we told him absolutely not. Once 60, he showed determination, situational awareness and eagerness to improve. This player quickly rose through our ranks due to attendance, preparation, and performance and is considered one of the heavy weights of the guild in what was at the time an overcrowded raid position. His story is one that shows you can always "catch up" if you care and want to be strong at this game. It is a simple example of why we recruit skill, and attitude over what gear you have. Gear is easy; we get lots of it. Having committed decent people is the key. You'll get out what you put in. <Thundercats> aims to prosper with people who enjoy 1.12.1 WoW and truly love the guild dynamics. We are a fun group of people that chat sports (Guild Fantasy-Football), understand when real life happens, and help up and coming players/alts with nearly everything. Our tanks actually run 5 mans for your alts as well. We have a Community that's grown the past 2 years and we want you to become a part of our family. The depth of our group is extremely rewarding and the fact we have such efficient clear times with such a relaxed environment is a statement to our progress as people. I encourage you to apply as well, and experience the best raiding atmosphere I have ever played with in my life. Application: Feel free to visit our guild website to apply if interested @ http://thundercats-guild.shivtr.com/ Use the following template during your application: Our raids spots can be competitive, though all exceptional applications are considered. Remember we recruit the person, not the gear. Recruiting Needs: 1 Warlock 1 Mage Well Met! - The <Thundercats> Team -

+15 Strength or Crusader for my OH? (Mirah's Song)

With that in mind, then your average STR would be 25 instead of 29. Still 25 > 15.
  19. Undertanker

+15 Strength or Crusader for my OH? (Mirah's Song)

This should be an easy one. Crusader is a 1 PPM rate based on BASED weapon speed. (doesn't factor in increased % attack speed). Use this information to determine the proc rate % of the enchant on a specific weapon. 60/1.8 = 33.3 auto attacks in 1 minute. The 1 PPM tells us one of those should proc in that time. 1/33.3 - 0.03030. This gives us a 3% proc rate on the OH with a 1.8 speed. Because this is OH and not MH, it isn't benefiting from instant attacks other than WW. WW has a 10 second cooldown so can be used 6 times in the same 1 minute. The OH should get 33.3 hits + 6 from WW on single target giving us 39.3 hits total per minute. Now we pull the 3% proc rate of 39.3 hits, the OH will average 1.179 procs each minute. The buff last 15 seconds. Our Average buff time based on the 1.179 procs each minute is 17.68 seconds. Or 29.46% of 1 minute you have 100 STR. With these findings you can then simply take 29.46% of 100 str and see how it compares to 15str. 100 * 0.2946 = 29.46. Drop the remainder. 29 > 15. Crusader is 93.3% more effective on average as an OH enchant than +15 STR is.
  20. @Firebrand I too have a wife, 3 kids, full time job, do the family/friends/sports things. You have to stand up for yourself at some point. How many hours does your wife watch television, movies, read books, stare at her phone for hours doing whatever? - These are all forms of individual entertainment. Just like you playing WoW is a source of individual entertainment. What I chose to do with my free time, as long as it isn't detrimental to my body, my family, my job; shouldn't be of any concern. Clearly this is your choice of hobby to invest time in and it makes you happy. Is her happiness more important that your happiness? However way she is choosing to guilt trip you during these times, do the same against her with reading, watching TV, looking at pintrest/facebook/whatever. She'll soon realize how unreasonable your complaining is, and then you can explain that is what she is doing to you. The "if she heard another woman's voice" is a huge red-flag of insecurity. Are you aloud to order food/drink from the female wait-staff/bartender? Just because she may not understand your hobby, doesn't mean she isn't supposed to respect it. I myself do not like watching TV if it isn't sports related. I don't watch very many movies, and I don't like to read books (it ruins movies). My scheduled raid days are my time. I am a responsible adult, I work my job, I play with my children, and I converse with my wife throughout the day. I am entitled to do what I enjoy. So are you.

Pre-Raid DPS Belt for Fury (Elysium)

No. In the beginning they sucked. Fury tree was garbo until later into Vanilla.
  22. Wanting to ask a few questions about this trinket: Vanquished Tentacle of C'Thun 1: Does the summoned Claw move, or does it remain stationary from the point of it being summoned? 2: What is the auto attack damage / swing timer / DPS of the summoned Claw? Thanks for anybody whomever has experience with this item. Edit: This is the only video I can find: He 1 shots the lowbie so I don't know if it will move, or submerge / go to it's target or what. I see the damage on a low armor target so helps me understand the damage portion.

Axe of the Deep Woods + Thrash Blade?

Your off-hand will have a 0.2 second delay behind your main-hand swing. The additional swing will grant the additional swing of the MH or OH it procced off of. Off hand additional swing does not grant main hand additional swing. You may be thinking of the Feenix bug where your OH procs would be granted to your MH, which your MH swing timer would then reset after getting the additional proc if you didn't have same speed, or close to same speed. That is not the case here.
  24. Roll fresh they said. Avoid the gankers they said.
