Nost/Elysium Weekly Reset Time
Undertanker replied to Undertanker's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Bumping this. It is very important and more should be aware of when the current reset is in place. Go look in guild recruitment and you'll see the amount of overlaps this will have with raiding guilds that hit it up on Tuesday nights and are not finished by 10:00est. -
100 STR from Crusader = 5 block value. You block a lot as a pally that is AoE tanking 5 mans. You'll typically use a slower 1H weapon than a prot warrior would use, so you'll get good up-time on it, though would be better for a world buffed Warrior tank to use if rage starved. Lifestealing scales with SP at 43% of +SP. Again, with using a slower weapon you'll get a good proc rate% while using your abilities and auto attacks. The proc can also crit. You are not using Lifestealing to stay alive, you are using it for more damage and threat. I'd leave this enchant for Ret Pally, and Warrior tanks that are not rage starved. 30 SP will be your threat enchant for pally. 15 agility on a tank weapon for pally.

Hunters do not scale as well with gear as other DPS. If your guild is just starting MC/Onxyia, you'll look good on the meters. As content progresses into end game, you'll cap out around 700-900 dps with great gear. Other dps classes can top out at 1300-2k on the same fights. A few fights REQUIRE tranq shot on the boss, some bosses 2 hunter rotation works, others 3 works. Would suggest no more than 4 hunters in your raid to over 3 three, in-case one of them dies during their rotation. On a skilled raid group, 3 is a good number. They also bring kiting utility and aggro shot which can help with a few other boss mechanics (typically not the same bosses that would require a tranq shot. They can be extremely helpful on some of the trash in raids with their slow traps. Also they can provide a Nature resist aura for their group for NR fights in AQ, or in BWL on Chromag if it is a Corrosive Acid breath (move a hunter into G1 and put on the buff mid fight). First boss in Naxx Spider wing needs a hunter to give Aspect to Warrior to increase movement speed to counter Locus Swarm mechanic. A few raid fights can benefit from kiting a mob here or there, and you bring True-Shot Aura to melee dps group to help increase raid damage outside of your actual damage meters. Certain boss fights can benefit from hunters pulling to assigned tanks when there are multiple mobs on the pull, to prevent anybody from getting 1 shot. (3 Bugs boss in AQ40 is huge here). You see above, though you are lower on DPS, your utility IS needed. Only a few bosses in the game are pure DPS checks, Patchwerk is one of them. I suggest collecting some melee hunter gear for when your raid is going to disenchant something, take it. On Patchwerk you can do more damage (for the raid) with melee gear on and swinging Nightfall than you would just standing back and shooting. I know this is a very specific situation, however Patchwerk can be a stressful fight until the majority of your guild is 6/9 T3+. And if they are only bringing 2/3 hunters that night to Naxx, but 5 are online, it is a + to have something to bring to the table others don't.

Good guide since you point out the importance of getting +wand specialization and then going shadow. I would suggest that with mindflay it should be brought into the rotation once per mob. I'd Mind Blast on the pull > Mind Flay (they are slowed and taking damage) > Then SW: Pain > Then wand it while SW: Pain finishes it off. You'll take a bit less damage per pull since you added the slow to the mob coming towards you, and only lose 1.5 ticks on SW:Pain prior to it getting to you, which you would be able to get your full mindflay channel off before they get to you so no loss due to knockback. Prior to getting Spirit Tap, try your best to only use magic spells at the beginning of the pull and finish with wanding only. This is because after 5 seconds of not using a magic ability that cost mana, your spirit mana regen kicks in and you'll end the fight with a decent amount of mana to decrease down time.

Which class to start fresh with?
Undertanker replied to gotmilk0112's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
If you decide on warrior on a fresh server, herb/alch is going to be your best best, hands down and is worth the 2-3 extra hours in starting zone to get your herbing to 75+. (it will take that long on a crowded starting zone at least) You'll be weak and needing to grind on lower level mobs anyways so it isn't like you are wasting your time being in that zone a bit more. Unlimited healing potions, you can easily sell your mana potions. Healing potions don't take the same mats as the other options, +Str / +Agil / +Fort potion (fort gives a small amount of HP but when paired with well fed food buff, it is a big help). If it is a first character, stats will be hard to come by on your equipment for the first 15 levels, +4 str +4 agil + 27 more HP + 2 HP/5 + 50 armor, that is like having a few extra pieces of green gear on at that low of a level. Big tip with healing potions, the second level healing potions are needed to make the 3rd level ones, so don't vendor them as you make too many (yes this happens). While you probably won't get your hands on swiftness potion early, the underwater breathing one will help a lot with the lower level quest that send you underwater, you won't have to struggle for air and add a lot of time to those types of quest. (you'll use 1 for Darkshore, and 1 for Wetlands) wouldn't make too many more after that. A lot of people will be leveling BS, the advice of selling your crafts on the AH isn't going to be as lucrative as others are advertising. -
Transfering level 60 chars
Undertanker replied to Rivareyn's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Where was there a mention of only being able to transfer 1 character? As far as I am concerned, both character databases were to be merged, meaning all your characters/accounts should be in the same database as the Nost 1.0 character database. -
You can have guild banks in Vanilla. Make an alt that your guild mails things to or trades with when whom ever is in control of guild bank manages. Naturally this is to a trusted individual within the guild ranks. Guilds may chose to use a guild bank alt character name that references the guilds name in it. My previous guild's bank, we decked out in the expensive level 1 items with full enchants just because we are fashionable like that There are dangers in this as some people may create a character name similar to that and hope you send expensive mats to the wrong account. Always double-check who you send what to. Also account sharing is not permitted so don't share the account info for the guild bank, last thing you want is to have your guild bank banned.

60 queue skipping in retail wouldn't have been accepted since those were purchased/subscription based accounts. If there is a population cap on the server and a level 1 has the same priority as people trying to raid, what is stopping somebody from mass logging into a server with different accounts to lock out people or entire time zones of people from logging in to raid, essentially holding the server for ransom. Granted an IP ban or DDoS services should kick in fairly quickly, however people with enough time on their hands and hate in their hearts could still attempt фекал like this since accounts are free.

The item is good for the level, no doubt, but to get it will slow down leveling. While the instance referenced may have an upgrade, that doesn't mean it will drop or even if it does that you'll win the roll, unless you make the group and cherry pick to ensure no other class can use it.

Additionally which hasn't been covered here, for magic damage: Damage done by PVE applied DoTs and environmental damage should not give rage: ie: damage from lava, fire DoT on Chromag and Magmadar, poison from Princess Huhuran, SW: Pain from Sulfron. But direct magic damage should generate rage at 90 damage taken = 1 rage after any partial resist have been factored in.
-
Summarize what we have confirmed thus far so incorrect links stop getting pasted and the bashing can cease for a minute: For ease, values are for level 60: Outgoing damage: 30 damage = 1 rage. If your attack is blocked/parried/dodged you get rage = to the damage of your average white hit. Incoming damage: 90 damage taken = 1 rage. Calculations should be after armor reductions, not expected damage with 0 armor.

The developers Tweets about things being fixed on bug tracker are linking the old domain bug tracker and is advertising fixed on a broken link. Just a heads up. The most recent tweet links: https://report.valkyrie-wow.org/issue/1893 but should be: https://report.elysium-project.org/issue/434

I always encouraged locks to charge people for summons as well. You had to farm the shard and get to raid/buff location. They should have to pay for convenience. Will motivate people to show up on time if the gotta pay 1-3 gold per summon.

Dev Tweets give wrong link
Undertanker replied to Undertanker's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Also, is it just me or are the "key words" portion of the bug tracker not searching correctly? -
Here is another video from world first nef kill so you can confirm the math on incoming damage on a larger scale: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJ1OUeG1poE

Blizzard words it as "expected white damage". So I assume that means the median DPS of your white hit non-crit?
-
I might be confusing myself at this point. Multi-tasking at work. Warrior shouldn't get rage for dodging / parrying an attack, but should get it from having an attack dodged or parried by an enemy, correct?
-
He does receive rage from the dodge, remember what is hitting him is a weak mob. It won't give him much rage dodging a weak hit.
-
Pre level 40, weapon speed does not matter as you'll primarily be auto-attacking so the overall DPS of the weapon is what matters. The Nicker from LBRS should be added here as well.
-
Nice find Phnom. I noticed he got a decent amount of rage when he parried and dodged as well, #NoRageStarvationDream

Holly crap that guy is bad. LOL at run away when second add. A few tips for those who are new to hunter leveling. Use Aspect of the Hawk with improved, you'll open the fight with sting and maybe an arcane shot, and be auto attacking the entire rest of the time. This is so after 5 seconds of not using a mana costing ability your spirit mana regen kicks in and you'll have ZERO down time. Imp Aspect of the Hawk is going to be a good dps upgrade for you while the majority of your points are spent on having a strong pet. Swap aspects when you need to travel, the guy in the video literally covers no ground and gimps his killing time. After a kill, if you need to travel, swap aspect. If on PVP server, track human > track beast. Use track beast when needing to find a specific mob for a quest, however you can just look at your screen and see plenty of mobs. Eagle eye is wasting your mana and kill time "to see around the corner"...... you have tracking. Biggest speed tip: When a mob is close to dead, send the pet to attack your next target, you can auto attack with your bow the almost dead mob that is now chasing your pet. It will die close to where you are fighting the next mob. If you see another mob close, pull it to where your pet is, have your pet attack/get aggro on it, and YOU finish off the second. Finish off the 3rd mob and BOOM you got three kills, no down time at all and they are stacked dead so you can quickly loot all three and move.

PW: Shield is saved on tanks for before or after a known damage spike. Example, after getting moral struck on Broodlorde, right after a breath on Chromag, when a breath and autoattack on Val happen at the same time. Twin Emps is another big one. You should have your priest with the most +healing gear to keep renew on the tank, same with druid with the most +healing with imp rejuv specced. On farmed content you can throw your Power Infusion to your raids best mage or lock to increase kill times a slight bit.

Merge old pvp server with Fresh for PvP
Undertanker replied to cryviel's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
You can't cross realm BG with realms on a different patch. Gear discrepancy issues. -
I +1 this. It queue is a 30 min wait and you have core raiders disconnect, and have to wait 30 minutes to get in, it will create loads of down time due to network/system RNG. For active rankers, it can keep you out of your established pre-made for the night because you got DC and could fall behind in your grind (which is really specific in honor allowed per week when taking turns with R13/14).
