    ²[Ruins] - FR - PVE - Back From Ashes

It's a PvE orientated guild from the old PvP server.

How far behind will I be?

With the new order of server launches there will be plenty of players in a similar boat. You will also have plenty of time to catch up. There is a fair chance that there will actually be more new players joining the server than there will be old players that came back.
  3. It's a mix. Most events are triggered on the server (which is also why everyone sees them and not just you). So say a quest where the NPC does something after you hand it in: you have to do something on the server. Same for the bosses etc. It takes a lot of effort, most of that effort is spent actually finding out what the event looked like back in the day, as there isn't a lot of video material from that time.

    New WoW Account?

You don't use your retail account here...
  6. There is more involved than just throwing the server life. Launches like these also make for a new influence of players that just want to фекал arround (flyhacking etc). There probably aren't enough GMs to cover the launch event across 3 servers amongst other issues....

DPSMate - A combat analyzation tool

You could fix most of your concerns regarding layout and ordering using custom styling like: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/stylebot/oiaejidbmkiecgbjeifoejpgmdaleoha #dmg table tbody { max-height: 100%; } http://i.imgur.com/slK2klr.png As for the links: use an URL shortener if it bothers you too much.As for the healing stats: you can fix this as well, or people just click to change the tabs (so difficult ), but Shino should be able to add an anchor or something to switch tabs on load. @Shino, good job on the quick-fix for the list elements in the menu not being clickable.
  8. You can't really compare those 2 scenarios though. Apart from the fact that retail didn't even have close to this number of players, there were also no central hubs that everyone had to go pass through (dungeon entrances (SM building, SFK bridge, DM entrance to name a few), raid entrances (Blackrock Mountain...)) and people had flying mounts (which were the biggest killers of world PvP, even some Blizzard officials have shared their opinion regarding that mistake). Either way, if you think you're going to have a peaceful live once you hit level 60, you're wrong. Welcome to the (real) PvP environment.

    PvP on PvE Server?

There are plenty of people playing BGs to rank.
  11. Only MC/Onyxia are available, so the only thing that newcomers have missed is the server-first kill (current patch is AV, so we just got the leafs and eye).
  12. I'm still confused as to why the PvE server has been put to the front, but for the players that only rolled there because they found out about Nostalrius late (and didn't want to be behind) (like me) this is great news.
  13. All those games have thousands of both paid and free hacks available so... . The problem is that allowing custom dlls to be loaded without properly tracking those dlls only creates loopholes for people to abuse. If we're allowed to have the game load custom dx9 libraries then some model swapping to make say black lotus spawns render at the size of Ragnaros(...) is going to be redundant as I might as well make them visible through all objects, know that a group is camping the entrance to a dungeon around the corner etc. If they can track the loaded dlls server-side and verify their integrity then by all means we should be fine. One can still bypass such a system as you could overwrite the logic that would send such information to always flag your loaded libraries as approved, but that is going to be an issue regardless as you can always inject a custom dll and hide it accordingly. The problem to me seems to be that it is going to be difficult to identify legit players (with Reshade) from others that load whatever customized library one can come up with (in game radar showing enemies?).
  14. Good luck finding a single post on the Internet of me requesting anything to be permitted... Let alone something retarded as new models. You seem to have zero knowledge about who I am and what my ambitions are. If you actually paid attention to my posts you would have seen that I endorse the usage of Reshade myself. In fact I know a lot about it, and a lot more than you as I was actively involved in making it supported for some games that I play next to (vanilla) WoW. Fact is, the library is dodgey if you actually know how it works instead of just modifying it's settings. Also, what's next? Had I claimed to know a lot about the anticheat you would call for me to banned cause I know stuff that only someone actively involved in "destroying" this game on purpose would know. @Cat, Im currently on my last day of a business trip. Next week I'll make a little proof of concept for you to proof my point...
  15. Read for example this discussion about making the project open source, where the creator states he's afraid of what people will use it for instead: https://reshade.me/forum/general-discussion/217-open-source Thing is, he doesn't even need to make it open source for the scenario I was describing. Usually people just hook the threads of a game itself to have their own bit of code being run to do whatever they want their 'hack' to do. Now with Reshade already being ran in-process thanks to the custom DX9 lib (which calls the Reshade lib) you can just place your hooks in the Reshade lib instead, which already is being called by the renderthread (as that is where your shader replacements are coming from). Now my knowledge of anti-cheat in WoW, and even more so in the private server scene, is limited so I know little about what the team can detect, but I think it is fair to assume that they are currently not checking if nobody is messing around by playing hooks in the Reshade lib... I'm mostly wondering where the border is between "we allow XXX, but we don't allow XXX", as if I would ask about injection my own code into the client, I'm sure no dev would allow me to do so.

    Click-to-move not working (1.12.1)

This is a known issue in this version of the client. Most botting programs patch a specific set of bytes in the client to fix this, but as you can probably imagine this is not permitted, which makes it realistic to assume that if the client in some way or another submits data that indicates CTM movement they might track this behavior server side (mind you, while I know a fair bit about this subject, my knowledge in conjunction with WoW is limited) which also makes it easier to detect bots as only those with that patch applied can walk such long distances with a single CTM call. Realistically speaking however I wouldn't expect CTM packets to appear any different on the server, with the client handeling everything CTM related instead... Either way, the summary is that you can't fix this without changing the client.
  19. @Pottu, not to stir up drama (I use SweetFX a lot), but could you elloborate why this is in fact allowed? In the end it makes the game load a custom DX9 dll, that wraps it with API calls to the corresponding Reshade lib (x32/x64). To me that sounds like a free passage to hook the Reshade lib resulting in an undetected internal hack with various options like reading the game's memory, drawing an overlay over the game etc, because the actual DLL touching the game is tagged as clean, resulting in a free passage to an internal hack. Feel free to edit my post if it is something you'd rather discuss elsewhere. @Undertanker, I have to say I would not be able to play with 30 FPS (or 60, or 90), so I will boot up the game when I'm back from my business trip to see what is causing this. Once I have a solution I'll update my post here.
  20. While there is going to be players with more (hardcore) raiding experience from Vanilla than myself, I did have a strong guild that progressed a fair amount, with what I would consider respectable killtimings (not even close to top 10, but certainly top 200 had there been a place to track this stuff and the core of that guild is still pushing sub 100 on retail (idiots...) as we speak) I'd argue that there are two things affecting my playstyle a lot more than having addOns, access to (more) (theoretical) information or the influence of an imperfect emulation. About 12 years of growing up (oh man, all those skipped classes back then...). Having the hardware to play (vanilla) WoW at even 1000 FPS at times with a 165Hz screen instead of sometimes going as low as 3-5 FPS after a pull.
  21. The first stresstest used the hardware of the Elysium server that will now be used for the PvE server. For some reason it seems they didn't actually set everything up in such a way that launching the PvE server would just a minimal set of configuration work, resulting in the long wait for the PvE server to go live. Either way, going by the stress test they should cap it at about 4500 to ensure a stable environment, but in reality I can tell you that I would be happy (and surprised) if it reaches half those numbers at peak.
