Quit being such a crybaby. Alliance premades are a plague in Arathi Basin to the point where it's not even PvP anymore but afking for the mark.

It takes skill to tank here as it is NOT by any means an easy task. Just get a guild group of friendly players to learn how to tank. Dps actually need to wait for a few seconds to attack and they should only attack your main target. In pugs it's much harder to tank due to the fact that if the pull goes wrong, it's harder to get the mobs under control due to lower rage. This is what I would do: Mark a target with skull as this will be the one your group will kill first Pull with a ranged weapon Use bloodrage Demo shout them when they are in rage (battle shout instead if your group is close enough) Tab target each enemy while attacking the skull 2 or 3 times more than the others Non-elites are ignorable so don't worry about them when there are elites. Also melee mobs are higher priority than caster mobs. If the dps pull aggro on something that's not skull when skull is up (exceptions being nonelites), it's their own fault, not yours. The ability priority for single target: Revenge (even if proced by shield block) > Sunder >> Heroic Strike For AoE, just Demo Shout (Battle if people are close enough) and that's all you can do

The increased demand means there should be an increased supply. The goal of a vanilla server is to make the experience as close as possible to retail vanilla.

They can OT some bosses, but those expecting to get a core tank spot are going to be disappointed. Some parts they can tank better than warriors (nef adds as an example).

The problem is many guilds will bench that player for not paying the unreasonable price. A lot of the problem is those guilds being elitist, but it's still a major problem.

This guide should specify that it's for speedclearing MC and not a general tanking guide. Yes this guide is great for speed-running MC, but this will be a poor idea to use for progression. I was wrong to say that it's a bad guide altogether, but it is bad for using as a progression tank guide. This is only for MTs with guilds that have MC on drunk farm and want to speed clear it.

Revenge > Shield Slam > Revenge (Shield Block proced) > Sunder > Heroic Strike This is tanking 101 (though use both if you got the rage for it)

If it's to avoid crashes, then Anathema crashes just as much. The key difference is that Anathema is an older server on AQ patch and Elysium only has MC/Ony out. They both have their pros and cons. Anathema is great if you want to raid BwL and AQ40 asap, but it's horrible if you want to be in a guild that starts from scratch. You also shouldn't bother with BGs until you get some raid gear, otherwise you will get destroyed. Elysium is great for those that want a fresh server experience and want to be decent in PvP right away. The main disadvantage of Elysium is that you will be farming MC for a few more months, though BwL might be out when you get geared enough to do MC.

I can confirm that rage is normalized on there as well as I main tanked the first half of MC and Ony. I rarely used heroic strike because of a lack of rage. And no, I wasn't in amazing gear either, it was just pre-raid BiS. As for the OP, the best tank race is debateable between dwarf with stoneskin, human with sword specialization (mainly when you get Thunderfury), and night elf with 1% dodge. I would personally pick a dwarf since that cooldown can be used to clear some bleeds and can also come in handy for a hard physical hitting boss. The only crappy tank race is gnome as it brings no benefits. It's not like horde where Tauren is the obvious choice.

I just skimmed over the video and just ignored it when he said Alcor's is BiS for threat for MC. That is complete bullshit as I have maintanked the first half of MC on the first guild raid (in pre-BiS gear) and I don't think I even used heroic strike ONCE. Alcor's is only good if you can spam it. Hell, he even states in the beginning that you need a start attack macro because of a rage shortage. Slower weapons are better if there are extra attack procs, which mainly affects the Horde, but it also has somewhat of an effect on the Alliance with trinkets like Hand of Justice and Ironfoe, which is WAY better than Alcor's. Hell, even Quel is better than Alcor's for threat due to the higher weapon dps alone, and that's not even a threat weapon.

There are some good ideas in there like having points in Unbridled Wrath, but most of it is complete bullshit.

I'm going to call bullshit on this. There is no encounter that lasts only 20 seconds without being extremely overgeared on Elysium. For drunk farm, just get hit capped and if that still doesn't work, put on some dps pieces with decent stam. Horde tanks (where we don't have paladins with salv) manage to do just fine with +5% parry. Also why the hell would you use Alcors when rage is limited? Ironfoe is miles better.

First off, why did you take Anger Management? It's completely worthless on boss fights and far from the best talent. Yes you might have a bit more rage on the first attempt, but on progression, it's just pointless. Second, you should be using impale build for max threat. Just put on some dps pieces if a boss is on drunk farm and you are having rage problems. Third, why would you put points in Improved Taunt instead of Toughness. Bosses later on are taunt immune and there isn't any situation where you need a shorter cooldown if your dps are gud. The only time I found that it comes in handy is on Lava Annihilators, but even then a fourth tank solves that problem. You got all of the mandatory talents at least.

Let's start with you quitting the server

You were probably shit at the game and/or you didn't show up to much raids at all.

The amount of people even raiding is much higher per server than in retail and people are far more likely to hoard it, so something needs to be done to make it as affordable as it was in retail vanilla. This will only get 10x worse when Naxx comes out on Anathema. Though requiring a flask for nontanks on farm content is wasteful of server resources.

To not get ONE piece of loot in 2 months in a guild that's farming several bosses means that your guild is a corrupt loot council, or you just aren't pulling your weight and they find that you don't deserve loot. If it's DKP, then show up to more of the raids and you will get gear. Yes, it's going to take you several months at least to get all the gear you want from a raid if you are an average player, but you should get at least something in the first two months.

Salv and kings = easy mode

Mage and warlock are really easy to do decent on and usually in relatively high demand. It will still take a lot of research to max out your dps capabilities though.

No, it was 321 in retail vanilla, so it's not going to change.

You clearly NEVER played horde on Elysium because 90% of the time the premades are alliance.

At least it tells you what tanks are noobs and which ones know how to play, though many raid leaders fall under the noob category on that as well.

Unless you are starting a guild or wanting to be in a guild starting from scratch, you are simply fucked because 90% of the decent healers and caster dps are already raiding BwL/AQ40. Sure Anathema is great for in-demand roles wanting a carry in BwL, but not for those that want to start from square one.

You will never get a spot as a prot warrior or melee dps either in a decent guild
