You don't get a fair shake on Anathema as a new player, it's just a fact. You won't have any hope of getting into a decent guild unless you roll an in-demand class.

It's still better than going against people in AQ40 gear that will literally one shot new players.

I think that will be needed at this point. I'm tired of "leet MTs" praising Alcor's on Elysium even though there isn't a single boss that hits near hard enough to make it worth using, unless maybe you tank raggy with no fire resist like a nub.

Also why are you wearing valor and not true-strike?

Ret paladins can do decent dps, though they won't top the meters in most situations. The biggest problem you will face is the bad stigma ret paladins have, but they are not bad like people say they are. I don't know this for sure since I mainly play horde.

Warriors are a pain to level but you will be fine tanking dungeons even as dps spec. Just make sure you have a decent 1H and shield in your bags as well as decent skill on your 1H. You will want to farm dungeons to update your 2H weapon whenever possible. You are at a disadvantage with the lack of experience in the content, but it won't stop you from tanking. Just do research on the content and you will be fine. The only thing you will have a hard time with as a tank is getting a raid spot, but it's not hard to get an OT spot if you join a guild when it's just starting and make sure that you are active. Just make sure that guild has leadership that knows what they are doing.

Yep, there was a bunch of rage from <SORRY> getting perma-banned. I'm not sure about <Conspiracy>, but I'm guessing they are also perma-banned.

I went prot at 58 and grinded pre-raid to 60. I started with BRD, and moved up to the other stuff when I got everything except IF from BRD. Though they often did not like a 58/59 tanking even when I showed them my gear (which was close to half pre-raid BiS).

We have plenty of people that are still leveling. I can't guarantee you a raid spot, but I can guarantee you a solid community.

The most important part by far is making sure you get a good start. If they pull aggro within 5 seconds of the pull, it's their fault for not paying attention. The non-elites in the 5-mans you shouldn't bother with much as they are easily AoEd down, but you need to worry about the elites. In Strat, I only really care about getting the elite ghouls in the AoE packs. If you plan to tank almost all the 5 mans to gear up, I would respect prot until your guild's first raid where you go back to fury. It won't be a magic easy-mode, but it will make things go significantly smoother. Open with a demo shout and then use the priority of revenge > sunder. You can also try switching to a slow 2H weapon and stance dancing to Whirlwind for some AoE threat and then back to 1H and shield.

The guild <Against All Odds> might not be much of a PvP guild, but we do provide a semi-casual raiding core that will raid Friday 10pm EST and Saturday 9pm EST. We are currently in high demand for mages and hunters, but we have spots for everyone except tanks and priests. We have around 30 people on every night and run pre-raid almost daily. Our first raid will be on the 19th of May.

Elysium if you want a fresh server experience and Anathema if you want to get into AQ40/Naxx as fast as possible.

I think you will need to update the weapons to the non-ragecapped threat weapons since I see so many nub tanks with Alcor's/Finkles on Elysium.

It's still far better than being in a starting guild on a stale server. What happens is most of the good healers and caster dps are in the BwL guilds while the starting guilds have a hard time even getting scrub healers and caster dps. On a fresh server, many of those healers and caster dps are still leveling and gearing, so the recruiting pool is much higher in quality.

This is a nice addon for tanks as well as healers so they can judge when to use Last Stand / Shield Wall or not.

Those 2 zones are suicide to level in mainly since they are both bordering Blackrock Mountain, which holds 3 pre-raid instances and MC.

This is meant to be a vanilla server to give us the experience of vanilla WoW, not to make changes to it. The only changes that are made are to make the experience as close to vanilla as possible when there are different situations than on retail vanilla like a much higher raiding population per server. I miss dual spec most of all as a prot warrior where I'm WORTHLESS in world PvP, but I chose to tank and I pay the price since it's a vanilla server.

Rolls on a PvP server and crys about PvP. Makes a lot of sense to me.

Check out the guides first, as those will give you so much information. The first thing is that fast weapons are NOT BiS for threat anymore with the exception of Vael, even if people say that they still are. Get Ironfoe for threat and Quel'sar for mitigation. Unless you can literally spam heroic strike with your standard tank rotation and still have full rage, don't bother with a weapon like Alcor's. If you are in that situation in MC or Ony whit that much rage, you are taking way too much damage and need better gear.

Yes, most of the no-lifers did roll Alliance, but Horde still outnumbers them significantly.

As a horde player, I agree that they need to limit the horde transfers to Elysium as we need more alliance badly. The BG queues on horde side can sometimes take over an hour at 60, and even then it's usually a premade that decimates everyone on the alliance.

If you want a significant chance of raid tanking, you must play a warrior. There might be the feral OT, but it will mostly be warriors because they are just the better tanks in most cases due to itemization and class abilities. To the guys that say that "druids can raid tank," yes they technically can, but in almost every case a prot warrior can do it better with lesser gear. For roughly the same effort it requires to barely get a tank spot as a feral as something like tank 4, you can become tank 1 or tank 2 as a warrior. However, druids can tank 5 mans and UBRS just fine to gear up.
