Account Hacked between 30/12 (evening) & 31/12(morning)
Syanis replied to Quake_rogue's topic in Help & Support
Thing is it is their fault many times for not having a secure database. You could use a custom login with a custom pw and an email only used for Elysium and have your account compromised because they aren't going after the player but the Elysium database where they get the info. That means in much of a way a pw change doesn't mean a damn thing and even 2PA is faulty because they are the ones being hacked. -
Went on a vacation - Everything is gone on both accounts.
Syanis replied to Skink's topic in Help & Support
Ridiculous that its their databases that are the ones compromised usually not some random getting their information stolen by being stupid. Many of these times its the fault of Elysium and they shouldn't be able to just turn a blind eye saying you should change your pw more, use the 2PA which also is compromised with the DB as it can be disabled, and how 2PA doesn't work for a fair number of people w/o issues. -
Best/Worst starting zones?[New Serve]
Syanis replied to Trales's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
What starting zone won't make a difference. What will is being quick to login and having a friend or two to explore up quick and then grind lvl 5+ mobs. Quests will slow you down under the curve because the majority will be killing those early quest mobs and will be the most packed. In the starting zones though I'd expect it hard to even tag a mob for any1 w/o a near instant ranged damage. Starting as a war or other melee off the bat will likely doom you to leveling slow as well while range nab everything. But yah, explore quickly and then grind mobs above the curve with maybe 2 friends. But this is only going to be good if your going hardcore pulling 18 hour days for the first week to get top in the curve. -
Disable VPN connections to server...
Syanis replied to Worldstar's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
So you agree with me. Its nonsense to ban an entire group because of the actions of a few. My *statistics* are also spot on because the majority of mmo players are NA based in these sorts of games that also backs up the majority of gold buyers are NA based as well plus they have the money to afford such things unlike many players in countries where $10-20 for some ingame currency is a days wage or more. I work overseas as do a few friends plus a lot of military friends who use VPN's to play because of latency. I also have met many Aussie friends that also use VPN's to play as well because most games servers are NA based and its NOT so enjoyable being 350-400ms w/o a VPN especially when raiding. Of course for the self centered people living in NA with blazing fast internet that many countries don't have access to for the mainstream public its easy to be selfish and self centered. It also shows how hateful you truly are of people from other countries as you think all that matters is you. Its just nice to see MOST people even in the NA region aren't as self centered. -
Disable VPN connections to server...
Syanis replied to Worldstar's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Now he's another piece of logic for those saying to disable VPN's. Banning NA accounts is proven effective to lessen/eliminate gold sellers because by statistics the majority amount of players buying gold are NA players. Makes sense to me and proven time and time again. So is that really fair or a good solution though just as banning VPNs. -
Disable VPN connections to server...
Syanis replied to Worldstar's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
That's interesting. I'd like to know then why if I use a VPN like WTFast I go from 350-400ms and obvious spell lag to 250ms and very very little noticable lag. Also that when not using a VPN like WTFast or VyperVpN I could be disconnected during peak time by my sh*t ISP every 20-30 minutes yet if I use the VPN the connection is stable with very few to no disconnects. Google can't seem to explain that. The truth is a VPN won't really do anything if your going from 60ms down to 35ms with a VPN but for those in different countries then the servers they actually do help and a LOT. But hey, feel free to respond with more Google logic or your own as I'd love to hear your excuse. -
Disable VPN connections to server...
Syanis replied to Worldstar's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
How will banning VPNs really do anything to stop those who have their accounts hacked from being hacked or falsely claiming it was hacked? Further how about all the players who use VPN's because of latency and horrible routing from retarded ISP's. No VPNs would mean no WTFast, no BattlePing, no PingZapper, and no VyperVpn that many gamers use all around the world. Its self centered idiots who don't see how things may be needed by others to play such as VPNs because they personally don't need them who should be banned. -
Ancient school player LF chilax AUS raid guild (H or A Fresh)
Syanis posted a topic in Guild Recruitment
Very old school mmorpg player looking for a guild. When I say old school I'm talking Meridian 59, UO, and many many since (including classic wow). Looking for an Aus/Oceanic timed guild that is heading to be a solid raid guild but a fun and friendly atmosphere. I've done all the hardcore a$$holish raiding years ago and just don't have it in me to not have fun with people anymore but that doesn't mean I'm not a hardcore player (just more fun). I also don't have enough numbers left in me to be dealing with DKP systems so if that's core loot system me and my math will move along (doesn't mean I dislike loot councils or other simple point systems). As far as Horde or Alliance it depends if I find a guild first that seems to suit me. I'd likely be going mage or warrior, kind of depends what the guild needs that I enjoy. Guild also must have a decent number of starting players (not interested in *hoping* for a guild to be getting its 5th member when servers come online, hehe). Drop me a msg if maybe your guild would fit me. Syanis the Ancient (and the original of more then 20 years in gaming) -
How to combat the gold spammers
Syanis replied to g2nightmare's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
They have found ways around it by splitting msg's into multi msg sends. Can't go blocking WOW or G4 when that is all that is in a msg w/o screwing over normal chat. Spamthrottle helps but many are getting around it. -
How to block all gold selling spam and channel invites (Very easy process)
Syanis replied to Alexensual's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
They are getting around my spamthrottle also. doing multiple msg splits where I'd have to ban like G4 and WOW to catch them which would pretty well screw over legit chat. -
Allow low lvl character transfer to Fresh server
Syanis replied to Waltion's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Ohh great idea, make a fresh server and allow level 30's or even level 20's to transfer to it. Just look at all those transfered who will just camp the starting areas killing an endless supply of level 1-8's. Couldn't think of a better way to ruin a perfectly good fresh server. -
Stop whining. Players from non NA have been dealing with 300-400 for years as the standard. 200-250ms is still great. Further while you can grab a program like wtfast its unlikely to be of any solid benefit considering the distance and your still in the good range (plus it requires a sub).
-
I really really wish that it was possible to require a subscription to play. I don't care if its $1 a month as long as requires a credit card or paypal type system. Idea would be to get rid of all the whiny kiddies that just want a f2p game who would never contribute financially or even in a beneficial way to the server community but instead feel like they deserve something. To bad that isn't possible w/o causing issues with Blizzard.

4am EST screws over Aussies who wouldn't even be able to raid on that day as reset would be at raid start time or just a bit after. It could be a bone being thrown for a change to international players who for many years have been screwed over in favor of NA players.

Why people want fresh so much?
Syanis replied to brunoviek's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
I'd say the reason for supporting a fresh server would be (including its pvp): 1. Chance at being at the top of the curve on something or other. 2. Having a chance at being an integral member of a new guild that may actually make it to serious raiding rather then just an extra picked up along the way. 3. Being able to enjoy the pvp server aspect without having to deal with high level bored gankers. 4. Not feeling behind others in money, crafting, gear, and so forth by months+. 5 The chance at being ahead of the curve enough that you could go ganking yourself (maybe bringing some friends). 6. Its shiny and new.... people like shiny and new. 7. Not having to deal with some of the entitled mentality Nost players who think that they are above the rest. 8. Its simply the hype, Dude! Like everyone is going to be there Duude! Pretty sure many of these apply to each person depending on the person. For many a number of these apply to me as well. -
same issue here. I was on it just fine then a random dc and now no world chats like general/trade and such and exiting and relogging isn't fixing it.

Are the old servers worth playing?
Syanis replied to Faptrap's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Who's acting like a spoiled brat? I'm playing on the Nost servers patiently waiting for the fresh one. I just said if some of the old Nost guys didn't like having us freshies to be hanging out in the meantime they should have pushed the Elysium guys way back towards a fresh at the same time. I've actually defended multiple times the fresh server being delayed because I saw the same thing the Devs posted about later on as well that it was an attempt to give the Nost servers time to rebuild and get some fresh meat. that some will stick around when the freshie comes out. Nothing entitled in my comment at all unlike the one I was replying to of an old Nost player whining we were bogging down the server they felt was their's. Nost players should feel lucky they even got anything back. -
Are the old servers worth playing?
Syanis replied to Faptrap's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Yup, exactly. I plan to abandon my Nost characters when the Fresh server comes out but until then I'll be bogging down the queue with my newbie characters. If you Nost perma stayers want us gone then you guys shoulda pushed Elysium team to release the fresh at the same time way back but then your server would be dead. -
Just got the same thing, I assume its because I have no characters yet. Sucks waiting for 8 minutes just to get another 5 minute queue when would think I'm good. lol
-
Your not getting it. Roll the fresh server at the same time and 1/2 the total players will go there making the queue time on the fresh server a killer as well as the lag. However the old servers will lose likely half of the Nost pop who are also wanting to go fresh which means a shortage of players along with no new blood on the old Nost servers. Within a week many on Nost servers will be seeing a declining population while people can't get stuff going and decide to join friends on the fresh server. Old servers quickly die with the lack of fresh blood and a lot of old Nost players going fresh. This means the Fresh server is way overburdened while 2 servers sit at low population. The point of waiting on the fresh server was to give a chance for the old Nost servers to recover their populations and get them involved again as well as some new blood that don't wait that say they will go fresh when it happens but come level 30ish when the fresh server comes out they decide to remain staying new blood. Old servers get a decent population and fresh server still ends up with a large fresh population. Yes it sucks we have to wait but that's how it is. The only other option that makes actual sense would have been saying screw the old Nost servers and releasing a fresh PvP and fresh PvE server along with a 3rd server to be determined by whichever likely needs another (likely PvE).

will special characters be allowed in names?
Syanis replied to Crowley's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
You also forget that you can't claim its a fast run if its the tank your looking for. If yah get a crap tank or a slow tank there goes the fast part! I always laughed hard when saw people shouting for a pug tank for a fast run, the tank is the #1 spot to decide if its fast or not! I sure hope no special characters are allowed also. People need to be more creative with thinking of a name then just copying the same nonsense 1001 others are wanting. -
leveling running 5-mans only - which server?
Syanis replied to jonlaz74's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Classic wow had NO dungeon finder. You'd be finding groups via chat channels and guild. Keep in mind the dungeon finder was one of the key earlier things that lead to the downfall of what we loved in wow and older mmorpgs as it killed the community and made building a rep as a great tank, healer, cc, and so on near worthless. This also means it will be difficult to grind doing dungeons only unless your able to find another proper group wanting to do the same thing that you become best buddies with. Your considering the time it takes to run places on foot (until 40+) along with often needing a proper group of a war tank, a proper healer (not dps that can heal), a cc (mage usually), and then your assorted dps unlike now you just run in and wing it with whatever is available and massive dps. If someone leaves it may take 20 minutes to find a replacement and 20 minutes for them to arrive during peak playtimes even. Exceptions will apply of course as some dungeons like deadmines and a few others will likely stay busy while many in the mid levels may be slowish. -
That's not so bad while far from great. That is the average ping I've been playing on for the last 8 years as I have been living/working in SE Asia.

I must file a formal declaration of protest! Take my money demmit! I looked through pages of the thread to see if anyone else had a missing button for donating to see this. I'm saddened and crying now because I have money and no server that wants to accept it!

As long as they don't allow name changes or they are costly I'd say to just let the community handle it. No dungeon finder / lfg queues or cross server raids which means the community polices itself. Add in that realm transfers won't be a thing as well. A ninja looter may get away with some crap low levels but when it gets to the big stuff reputation means a lot. A raid leader / master looter who ninja's quickly finds themselves without a raid who will likely replace them, guildless as no guild wants to be associated with a known ninja looter, void of future raids because their name gets passed around as a ninja even when ML is on someone else and they can't ninja its still a point. They will quickly get shunned by the entire server and end up screwed. In old days many of those ninja's ended up paying for name changes and server transfers and even rolling fresh because their old ninja character was shunned.
