I tested vis'kag with about 3k swings, it has something between 5 to 6% chance.

When i tested ironfoe like a month ago, it wasn't generating any combat log messages at all, aside from the fury of forgewright buff.

I've played a hunter and multiple other classes, and I gotta say, as a hunter I've wiped my group so many times because of stupid mistakes more than any other class. Things like tabbing through targets and accidentally pulling an extra pack with auto shot, climbing a ziggurat in strat ud by the side of the stairs and not dismissing my pet, jumping from the balcony in ubrs without dismissing my pet, having my pet chase after runners, and the list goes on, most of them are related to pet/pathing mechanics. Mastering those same mechanics is what makes hunters so fun to play and one of the best soloing class in the game. Unfortunately the only way to learn is by experience, so you can expect someone less experienced to annoy the crap out of you when they make some kind of stupid mistake, when you and your group have to die and run back and the bastard that wiped everyone just feign death and afk for the next 5 minutes.

I don't have enough familiarity with the wow API to grasp all the inner workings of this addon, I fiddled with the rais auto shot addon in the past, and comparing the two of them, at a first glance this addon seems way too simplistic because it only relies on the events START_AUTOREPEAT_SPELL and STOP_AUTOREPEAT_SPELL to calculate the auto shot swing timer. I never used this addon myself but I guess it only calculates the swing timer when you first activate auto shot, if you move around or get stunned during the windup time I bet the addon will start behaving erratically.

You don't have to know anything about cycles and rotations to get this done. Just for the sake of an example, lets say that your auto shot have a 0.5s windup time and a 2.5s cooldown (3s total). After the initial 0.5s you have to cast a multi-shot within the 0.5s to 2.5s interval (since it also have the same windup time as auto shot). For aimed shot its pretty much the same thing, however, you must have some caution setting the upper bound of the interval, if this interval is too short, you may never achieve a clipped cycle, which may be better depending on your current attack speed, if you set it too high, you will always use aimed as soon as it goes off cooldown. I did some math a while ago and I ended up using a 0.5s interval and it did pretty well for both rhok'delar and ashjre'thul, even with the usual haste buffs.

Dodging premades is something I did extensively back on retail, and it was a part of this pvp system, which is broken by design, you can't fix it if you are going to take the blizzlike route. This is certainly a gray area, people were just using the system the way it was designed and this episode just shows how bad the staff is from a communication stand point, or maybe not, maybe that was the whole point, this whole thing wasn't just about making an announcement, but also about making a strong display of power, this server have like 7000 players at any given time I'm sure they can afford to fuck over a couple hundred people just to make a point right.

Demo shout generates enough aggro to keep stuff away from healers, you can improve your aoe threat by having buffs like thorns, fire shield and other similar effects. Also, having a force reactive disk helps a lot, it's the best aoe tanking tool in the game.
-
The extra threat from cleave, heroic strike, revenge and thunderclap scales with their skill level, you may skip higher ranks of those spells if you don't plan to do any instances at all.
-
Most warrior skills you don't need more than rank 1 to be effective, skills like Overpower/Pummel/Shield Bash/Slam/Intercept/Mockung blow you can just train 1 rank and get the rest at 60.

Also sunder armor have the same issue, if you are testing procs as a tank you have to factor in the number of sunder armors you used, which is kinda diffcult since only the first application generates a combat log event.
-
Procwatch is not very accurate for that purpose. Whenever a buff is refreshed, no combat log messages are generated, the same thing happens with Ironfoe, if you have 2 procs in rapid succession, fury of forgewright buff will be refreshed but no combat log message is generated in the process. So you can either track the buff when its duration is refreshed or you can manually click it off whenever the event occurs.

I assume he is referring to the WorldDefense channel, which is supposed to display all messages of zones under attack by the opposite faction. I have no idea if that works on this server.

There is a cave in wetlands with some stuff that are used for some random alliance quest. Since most people skip this quest, its a great place to level mining skill from 100-125.

Most consumables not working - Compilation list.

Regarding that whipper root tuber bug you speak of, it's been around forever. If you use a whipper root and then a healing potion you will be fine, however, if you use the potion first, you can't use any of the felwood consumables. -
If you're so sure that's true, why you hide behind a new account? Why don't you tell us your character name or guild you were raiding with, I'm pretty sure you're making stuff up. Back in the day I was raiding with Inheritance and we did a few pug runs with Echo, we had only one minor issue with a member that wasn't even an officer.

Ironfoe is only worth using if you're playing human, otherwise you will be better off using edgemaster's and some other raid weapon. I remember an EJ post a while ago that corroborated the 10% proc rate, thats why most servers used that as a baseline, unfortunately that source is gone forever.

Piercing howl is the best talent for tanking 5 man dungeons.

I just tested the ironfoe proc chance, did 1609 swings, got 82 procs, about 5% chance. I guess I'm banking my ironfoe for now. -
Practice Dummy HP modification

Yes, the servants can still be damaged, you can still gather data from the combat log and they will never die. The change you are proposing is bad not because it's not blizzlike, it's because this is another kind of handout that keeps players within the safety boundaries of a city, away from the game world. -

The servants behaviour changes from server to server, nost was one of the few that actually managed to get them working as intended, so yes, you can use them to test stuff. -

As far as game mechanics goes, you can find stuff on google, sure, but no one knew фекал back then, and we still don't, we have multiple sources of information and most of them are just a coarse approximations because of the lack of empirical data. So its still a question worth exploring even today, because we don't know which combat formulas the server uses and if you want to pursue those answers you have to make an effort, put a group together to beat anacrhonos, level an alt just 3 levels below the servants in blasted lands, farm some low level item like the defias set that gives +weapon skill, anyway, there is a lot of stuff you can do but you have to be clever about it and explore the game itself to figure out. Most of the data we have from wow in general was taken from EJ forums, which was basically a place where people gathered to discuss the game mechanics and only a tiny sliver of the wow community actually bothered to carry out research about it, however, the information gathered by those few individuals shaped the whole wow community, be it through guides, bis lists, stat weights and so on. The information you can gather from that process is extremely useful and it should be a community effort to figure them out and in that sense by not having training dummies you are recreating the same experience you had back then. -

Training dummies does add some QoL but it removes some of the vanilla feel, where you had to go out in the world to do stuff, right now as it is, it requires a group effort to test out some of the game mechanics. As mentioned before, you have options to do it, but it requires you to go to contested zones, where something else may or may not be happening there. And that is great about vanilla, you gather your friends and you do stuff, you interact with the world, instead of just being afk in a town waiting for something to happen. -
[Discussion]Best race/faction/spec for Warrior (Non Tanking)
Zarant replied to Shaylin's topic in Warrior
Weapon skill is really good in vanilla, human racial is very decent for threat generation. Some bosses hit so hard that you generate a lot of rage from damage taken and enables you to spam heroic strike all the time, in that case human racial is kinda useless. However, some fights you are not rage capped and human racial provides a significant threat boost. -
If you are serious about joining premades, your main job will be scouting eagle eye at the start of the game and then anchoring stables or farm for the rest of the game, I got to rank 8 on my hunter without breaking a sweat. In terms of utility and damage output, hunters are pretty weak compared to other ranged classes.
