i agree, Blizzard legacy realms would no doubt be ridden with microtransactions and modern changes and all the same cross-server stuff they have at the moment. if Blizz actually made real vanilla servers I would pay to use them but its never gonna happen. I do not believe in this "cause" that Nostalrius & Elysium claim to strive for.

why exactly would they need to? Elysium has only been open for 7 days...

Chinese players have to use VPNs to play on the server because their country does not allow them to connect to it. So it would prevent the Chinese goldsellers from using the server.

Aye, but still, in only a week they've made the decision to take on a new server and its costs etc. and then actually do that. I'm impressed.

Haven't played on it myself but it should be pretty healthy. Although the consistent ~3000 concurrent players seems low, that's only in comparison to the massive overgrown PvP servers that run way higher than normal realms. 3000 players on one server in Blizz terms is still a "High" population. And the server is still fairly new, it hadn't got very far when it was shut down. I expect the population to return when people get sick of the ridiculous queues on the new server.

It will die down quite a lot in the coming months but given how overpopulated it is at the moment, that is a good thing. The server is not going to die, there are a huge number of players interested in this. Nostalrius, which is what this is a continuation of, had 800,000 total accounts, 150,000 active players when it closed, and they got 300,000 people to sign a petition for Blizzard to make vanilla servers. These numbers are very large compared to the small number of private servers that there are - there is a huge demand and will continue to be the case for a long time.

If you're brand new to WoW completely - really, don't worry about all that. Just pick a class based on what you vaguely want to do (ranged, melee, weapons vs magic, damage v healing v tanking (or a combination of the three)) and roll with it. You will pick everything up as you go - the things you mention aren't anything you have to worry about while levelling from 1-60, which takes a good 200 hours of gameplay anyway. It's only at the higher end that you need to really try to min-max, worry about your damage output or how much you click. I guarantee you, if you just get into the game and start playing, it'll come to you. Don't stress out over little things that don't matter for the first few hundred hours of the game :p :)

Funny how there's like 10k people queuing for the fresh realm and yet there are 5k free spaces on the old pvp realm... if you are bothered that much why don't you just use a different server, you know there are 2 others on Elysium.

Yes, I have a 2560x1440 display and it is automatically detected in the video settings in game.

Why don't you play on Nostalrius PVP or Nostalrius PVE if the queue bothers you. They work fine and although they do have a lot of 60s, not everyone is and there's still plenty of people levelling.

I chose the need for items/profession option but I agree that enchanters should only green items they don't need for their character. Also with items for your character - you should only need for the spec you are using in the dungeon/raid. Think that is fairly obvious and well known though..

Really? I can leave my character logged in for at least 30 minutes and it stays logged in... and then once it logs the character out, it keeps me in the character select screen (still logged in) for several hours. I went to bed one night and woke up the next morning still logged in.

Of course the "old server still has a healthy population". It's only 3 weeks old... and already, the players at low time has halved. Elysium needs to be very careful.

When I played on Nost, 90% of the time there was no queue. Even when there was a queue at peak times, I was never waiting more than about 20 minutes.

Yeah no shit it's a custom server... they built their own server, it's not a blizzard server. It can handle 5x the player count of blizzard servers and they have to adjust certain points in game to account for that and still make it playable. It uses the vanilla client and it's closer to the vanilla experience than any other vanilla server out there..

Mob spawns are on a dynamic respawn rate, because the server has a much higher concurrent population than Blizzard ones did. So when there are lots of people playing, mobs will respawn much faster. And that means corpses disappear quicker. Would you really prefer the original spawn rates when there are 2000 people in one zone?

This needs to be sorted ASAP, it's awful at the moment. I was doing a quest in the starting area of Dun Morogh and people had formed a line to wait for the object spawn - it took 1 hour to get through the line, then a bunch of ninjas came along and kept stealing it so I gave up after another half hour. 90 minutes waiting by the quest item is nuts.
