    Warlock Versus Shaman

Orb of Deception got nothing on the Timbermaw transform.
  2. I honestly don't know why people continue to девушка легкого поведения about this, it's not gonna happen because this is a vanilla server designed to preserve the vanilla experience. simple as that. get over it.
  3. Nostalrius was evenly split, I expect Elysium to be as well.
  4. How on earth is using the in-game settings console the same as modding/hacking the game? You sir make no logical sense.
  5. No I'm pretty sure it's the same rules as the original game, i.e. you can use í, é, ó which is completely fair given that they are real characters in European languages. I can see the appeal in banning them but that won't happen.
  6. No. Otherwise it gives room for people to get away with using other modifications / cheats/hacks.
  7. Damn, I completely forgot WoW used to have a launcher. Why is the background from Cataclysm, though?
  8. I doubt the fresh server is gonna be up by the end of this year...don't get your hopes up.
  9. If you enjoyed your character, continue it. (so that the fresh one is less busy
  10. well then you'll end up with extremely laggy servers. I'd rather do stress tests and wait a while and have a better launch, than rush it and watch it die as people have no patience with bad servers.
  11. Title is wrong Release date next weekend!!
  12. Since you're not locked into any skill trees, your ability to heal/tank is mostly dependent on skill + gear, especially at early levels where you're barely into the skill tree. You can spec Arms warrior and chuck some stamina-heavy gear on and you'll be OK. Equally healing power is determined by intellect which you need whether you're DPS or healing. The only real difficulty would be if you were trying to level as an enhancement shaman but and heal in dungeons, or even worse wanted to level in Cat/Bear as druid but wanted to heal. Alternatively you can be a healer in grouping. I personally, spec into tanking tree all the way, I have less damage output when levelling but I can take more hits so it's OK, and it means in a dungeon I'd be adequately equipped for it. But the game is pretty flexible while you're levelling, you can do different roles with the same talents.
  13. 1. Vanilla is harder. There's less aids that the game gives you, which means it forces people to work together. The world is larger because it doesn't let you shoot around the world at 300% speed. It feels more immersive and it's more fun. 2. Takes a very long time to level to 60, I'm not sure what the average is but I would estimate maybe 10 days played? 200 hours? 3. Gold is much more valuable, farming/grinding can take longer. You're not given much money from quests etc so you have to be much more careful how you spend it. 4. Can't remember what highest ilvl is, I'm sure someone else has answered that 5. Like gold, epics aren't thrown at you for free. Without raiding, it's very very uncommon to get an epic, and given that raids are tough, that generally means that if someone's wearing epic gear, they have earned it. 6. No flying mounts there weren't in WotLK in the original world i.e. not outland/northrend, not sure if you remember 7. I can definitely see myself playing on a classic server for years to come. I've played wow for years and given easily my favourite time in the game was TBC/WotLK before they changed everything, I would definitely prefer this and could stay here for a long time. Having played Nostalrius, it confirmed to me that it wasn't just nostalgia that drew me back. 8. They will release content just like the original game did. So, they start with the basic game, then raid after raid gets added, like Zul'gurub, Naxxramas, Ahn'qiraj, these were added in content patches in the original game. After everything is added though, I dunno what they plan to do. Ideally they would leave it alone. They have talked about progressing to The Burning Crusade when the time is right. 9. Can't remember all of them but the earlier versions of the game had more stats. Retail WoW removed Dodge and Parry recently, and I think Hit has now been removed too? They removed things like Armor Penetration, Defense, Resilience, and a bunch of others. 10. Addons do work, there are sites you can find them on but not sure where. 11. You can have retail WoW installed and vanilla, they are entirely separate game folders. 12. The talent trees are much more extensive than the current ones. You get 50 points to spend and you're not locked into any trees, unlike in Cataclysm. Some of them are straightforward add 1/2/3/4/5 % crit or whatever, some of them add new abilities. 1. Best tank - warrior. Best DPS - rogue/mage. Best healing - priest 2. No idea what is good in PvP, I never did serious PvP 1. Professions exist just as they do now in retail. In fact professions are like the one thing that I don't think WoW has actually taken away from over the years. 2. Easiest one to level is mining. Hardest one probably engineering 3. You can make gold with any profession, I used to make a bit of bank farming mineral nodes with mining, haven't got much experience with anything other than JC which was added in burning crusade. 1. There are loads of dungeons and they are HARD. Well not super hard but you can't just silently roll through like you can now in retail. You need communication and teamwork. And yes, you usually need to all run there yourself unless you're with a warlock who can summon. There's no dungeon finder so you have to get the group together manually. It takes much more time in terms of both setting up the group, and completing the dungeon, but it is ultimately more satisfying. You make friends and you work together to overcome a challenge. You can expect to take upwards of an hour in most dungeons. 2. To begin with, there's Blackwing Lair, Molten Core, and Onyxia's Lair. Zul'gurub is the next one to get added, then Ahn-Qiraj, and then finally Naxxramas. With the exception of Onyxia these raids are all bigger than retail WoW's raids. And they're a lot harder, so there's effectively an awful lot of content. 3. There are various loot systems but the game doesn't enforce any rules by default, so a mage can roll need on plate armour if they want. It's up to the group leader which loot system to use. This is another system that improves the community, as fair group members will earn respect for keeping to the rules. In vanilla you have to choose to follow the rules, in retail you are forced to. 1. No arenas, these were introduced in burning crusade 2. Battlegrounds are Warsong Gulch, Arathi Basin, and Alterac Valley.

    Oldschool Mounts

Tholren, pretty sure the neutral Auction House is been in the game since 2004...
  15. Its not Russian, but they previously hosted a Russian server (not sure if they still do). one new PvP realm, Nostalrius's two realms are returning including with their character data. Population cap isn't clear (I think they said it would be a little bit under what Nostalrius had, so maybe 8K, think Nost was on 10K), they're currently stress testing to see how many it can cope with. Last week's stress test had 7.5K players, this weeks is going to be 15K players.

Skilled tank LF Guild upon launch

I don't think anyone has anything against people who didn't play vanilla (I didn't play it either), it's just when you blatantly lie to people's faces you're gonna get put down.
  17. Not an instance but raiding opposite faction cities was great. Sadly it died in Cataclysm with the introduction of flying mounts. Organising a vast number of people, often multiple 40-person raid groups, and all running across the barrens... that was awesome. Looking forward to doing that again.
  18. Doesn't matter whether the site is up or not, registrations are not open at the moment anyway. No one can register a new account.

Skilled tank LF Guild upon launch

You're 21 now and one of your qualities is that you mained a tank in 2005? When you were 10 years old? really selling yourself there brah.
  20. No, they didn't change any game mechanics, with the exception of spawn rates - the spawn rate of mobs would change depending on how many people were online in that area. Otherwise everything was the same. They fixed some bugs and yes they reduced the draw distance massively (imo to a point where it made the game much worse) simply because they could not handle the population. The draw distance was a huge issue, I remember having to kill a bunch of mobs who all spawned within one pretty small square, but I kept having to run to each side of the square because you couldn't see more than half way across.
  21. Yes, but it's a personal choice - e.g. there are plenty of interface add-ons that you can get to customise your game, it's your choice whether you use them or whether you want the original vanilla experience. Many people are playing this because they want to relive the game with the vanilla mechanics, which aren't affected by things like textures or UI mods. So if it were allowed, I don't see the problem as it's a personal choice. I believe Elysium mods have already answered it, not sure if it was on the forums or in the Reddit Q&A. Basically, the servers have anti-cheat detection software, which checks players' game clients to make sure they haven't edited the game files. Editing the character models would flag your account up with the anti-cheat software. And it's difficult to start making exceptions for certain mods, and it'd be even more difficult for GMs to verify that you're not modding the game inappropriately. The easiest, safest thing to do is just block everyone from modifying the game.

    some question about the realms

No there will be no functionality to interact/communicate to anyone on other servers (or on the opposing faction).
  23. I have no problem with people wanting newer models (though I personally would prefer the old ones) but the simple reality is that in order to have any effective anti-cheat system, you can't allow editing of the game files.
  24. I have Razer Krakens, love em to death. Really good quality - admittedly they did die just after the 2-year warranty had expired, but I spoke to Razer and they sent me out replacement ones anyway, which was very generous of them.
