Should probably move this over to suggestions. My take was, a forum change is in the works sooner rather than later. I hope we'll switch to phpBB Group run boards rather than the current IP. Board. If we do, both of the isues you list will be eliminated. Being able to edit is really important, epecially for running-list type posts, or posts in need of updated information...these are extremely vital.

I agree wholeheartedly. As we get closer to whatever the release date will be, there will be plenty of new faces that don't know where to turn for the appropriate information. If anyone cannot tolerate someone asking reasonable questions, it's best to just stay off the message boards as it's not going to become anymore tolerable for you. If we'd like to help, answer directly or point new people to the appropriate source.

Before all of the excellent opinions find their way to your thread, we're going to need to know: Do you plan on playing the fresh PvP realm? Do you plan on progression and/or BGs? Do you have any natural preference for casters, melee, tank, heals?

The PvE realm is not particularly far along though. @1.5ish. Plenty of time to get in on that action.

This conversation is of no use my friends. It looks no different now then it has in any past years. You can't disprove anyone else's pleasure and to attempt to do so cannot in anyway further validate your own pleasures, unless it is your pleasure to argue about things that have no endpoint : P Play what you like, it's a game.

I used questie on nostalrius. I knew some people that used Shaguquest and were perfectly pleased with it. I didn't use them both, so I have no comparison. I can tell you some of the later versions of questie, for me were so bugged it was dreadful and Scamp appeared to have stopped developing it. I had to sort through older versions of questie to find a good one for me. Here's the original link to Questie. Nostalrius will not change anything for convenience, cosmetics, or ease. They have a solid history of trying to maintain as close to the vanilla experience as possible and that's just the way it is. No modifications will be considered. The only things they have modified are due to balancing patch content and over-population issues.

If you want to be able to explore the possibilities of each realm, you will be able to make toons on all of them and chat with people there. You will also be able to chat with people from each realm here on the message boards, just as was done with Nostalrius. If you want to get an idea what it was like, you can even go visit those message boards now and take a look. You can see both servers had some mutual interests and concerns. They also had some entirely different situations to deal with. Don't know what your problem is bub. 1. The conversation is academic, it's not allowed. 2. Even if it were allowed, it would not affect your gameplay or experience because you would see no changes. Changing one's character model does not change the client side DB. They would look the same to you. If you'd read what I wrote instead of trying to find something to be upset about, the conversation would be more productive. I first explained why it isn't allowed, and then in my second post said the conversation was academic.

Yeah I hear ya. They've been no-tolerance to any changes. I haven't even played here yet, so I'm wondering what it's going to be like from East Coast US.

Strat and Scholo were run as 5 man on Nost. Blackrock spire you could run up to 10 man, but in LBRS if you had quests to do, you couldn't do them in 10 man as I recall.

Oh I misunderstood you, you want to know where it tops out. Originally, it was to go into TBC...all patches. They aren't saying they are going to do TBC now. This is what was stated at the beginning, before TBC was announced. The final timeline that went up to TBC is no longer available on Nostalrius server. Darkmoon Fair and Fishing Event will be available in the first 3 months. Kazzak and Azuregos will be available once Onyxia's head will be on a spike. Dire Maul will open 1 month after Molten Core & Onyxia Lair content is cleared. Regarding raids, Black Wing Lair will be available 2 months after Molten Core & Onyxia Lair content is cleared. ZulGurub and T0.5 quests will be available 1 month after Black Wing Lair content is cleared. Ahn Qiraj War Effort will be available 2 months after Black Wing Lair content is cleared. Dragons of Nightmare and Abyssal high council will be unlocked soon after Ahn Qiraj War Effort began. Ahn Qiraj Gate event will open the Ruins of Ahn Qiraj and the Temple of Ahn Qiraj. 2 months after Ahn Qiraj temple is cleared, the Scourge invasion will begin. 2 months after the beginning of the Scourge Invasion, Naxxramas will open with the outdoor PVP objectives (Silithus silithyst and Plaguelands Tower). Take all of it with a grain of salt, as there may be a different approach now, and also...we don't know if TBC is in the works. : )

Yay, im reading all forms of Directx are in latest version even though it's not apparent they are there. Which is odd.

On Nostalrius it was originally released around 1.4 content with slight modifications. Perhaps a GM would weigh in if anything has changed. : )

It looks like you can safely install directx 9 on top of whatever else you have too. Link on ths page. https://www.itechtics.com/directx-full-setup-download/ I dunno. If you do that, throw away the WTF folder and see if it finds directx 9, but the config.file isn't going to repopulate without actually signing on to WoW somewhere.

Now we're going to a completely different place ha. there's a ton of ways to mess with settings. start with the simplest one. Right click on wow.exe. Select> troubleshoot compatibility. Select> try recommended settings. Select> start the Program. Yes xyf, I did read somewhere people had to mess around with the window modes. That may be the bottleneck. I hope you are correct.

Hm, I don't get it either then. If the current client you have works...it works. I'm wondering if there is something going on on your computer allocating memory to the application. Is there some type of bottleneck being created on your computer?

The discussion is academic since it's not allowed, however modifying one's client doesn't modify the game client or anyone else's client. Everyone else's DB remains the same and the traditional character will be rendered. I wonder though if it could affect one's hitbox. Dunno.

What would anyone else care if someone wants new models for themselves? It in no way affects your own gameplay or experience. As I recall, the problem with modifying your character skins is it's modifying the game client. To anti-cheat warden it see's you've modified MPQ files and that's an insta-ban. Exceptions can't be made, because then we'll get caught up in splitting hairs that will occupy too much time.

Was just reading here about the 1.4 mounts and peoples questions about them. I knew there had been an exhaustive explanation over at Nosalrius about what happens and when, but for the life of me I couldn't find it : P What I did find was concurrent threads over on Nostalrius about Elysium. I'm not sure why we are posting pertinent information at two different locations. We should freely associate and if some people are more comfortable posting on Nostalrius, that's great. It may be that Elysium is run differently than Nost, I would expect that just as I expected that Nostalrius may have been Blizzlike, but in the end it was Nostalrius and what had happened in the past was no guarantee of what would presently happen there. I try to keep an open mind. We have always been hungry for information, that's a big part of this game. I would suggest we start looking at forms of consolidation so that we don't start generating information at two different sites that work at cross-purposes. Similar threads at different sites could create a consensus of thought that is not necessarily accurate : )
