    Ninja looting allowed?

Why would you ever think this was worthwhile? The small-term benefits you get from one or two items is going to be paltry in comparison to the dozens/hundreds of times you get passed-over by people saying "nah I heard he was a ninja, get someone else". I met someone in retail vanilla who ninja'd something from someone in a Scholomance (some shitty blue) and he ended up having to reroll since no one in the server would invite him to a group - or he would get into a group and someone would always know "he's that ваууin' ninja, kick him." Having a bad reputation is the best way to lose out on opportunities. You are cutting off your nose to spite your face.
  2. Agreed as well. When I started on Nost there was 5-6k online at any given time. By the time I got to 60 it was ridiculously overpopulated with over 10k all the time. I was glad to hear the PvE realm was being released at that point. Ideally I would like it if the two PvP realms spread out their population, as then I might return to play my Warrior on the PvP realm since in my heart of hearts I love PvP more than anything... but I can't justify playing on a 12-15k population since it seemed like a practice in time wasting. And myself being months behind the curve... ugh, I hate the feeling of mooching of others and "gearing up quickly", it feels like I didn't earn it or something, and attaining gear almost makes me guilty rather than excited. I'd much prefer going through the time when you're all under-geared together and then slowly build up your strength as a guild.

I love some of the names in there. Veil. Fearless. Foolish. Sharper. Ghost. Seed.
  4. Have you tried out Torchlight 2 or Victor Vran? They're pretty great action RPGs from the past few years, Torchlight was made by some people from Blizzard North who made Diablo 2. Both games have a unique but similar feel. Worth checking out since they're both quite cheap now. Worth putting on your Wishlist and picking up in the WInter Sales.
  5. Well you gotta keep the Gnomes out of the picture if you want to be sensible. I hear anytime they get into a picture it has a chance to break the camera.
  6. Thanks Russia for helping France and the rest of us out with this Warcraft problem. <3
  7. I may just log on and begin farming Herbs while I setup mods. My first thought was "do a dungeon" but who am I kidding? I would need to setup a couple mods first, so I may as well do that while in flight/riding around the world.

    The clicking king!

Haha nice. I remember I bound my spells to keyboard very slowly, only adding a couple at a time, and only really was motivated to use them due to PvP. Even once I had most of my mainly used spells keybound by around late-2005, I refused to keybind my Talisman of Ephemeral Power. I just liked the way it felt to Click big cooldowns. Once I played a couple melee classes I realized how much of a benefit using the keyboard was, especially for blowing cooldowns, and after that bound the rest of my spells on my Mage. For a while I was one of those people no one would have thought was a clicker, a closet-clicker if you will.
  9. Well remember - they scrapped Titan. They had been working on that for years. Some of that became Overwatch, but from listening to the recent interview on The Instance with Chris Metzen, it sounds like the failure of that project changed a lot of the direction within Blizzard. Notice how many people left in the past years. Now part of that is family stuff like Metzen, but Rob Pardo and others starting up Bonfire studios shows that it wasn't entirely just "have to focus on family stuff now" for everyone involved, I'm guessing there was some focus shift within the company, and those who realized their vision was no longer going to be, they bowed out. It sounded like Titan had so many people pulling it so many directions that it could never become one certain game, and no one was pleased with what it was shaping up like so they scrapped the project. Check this article, saying that Titan was heard about back in 2007, and cost Blizzard upwards of 50 Million - though I'm guessing much of that was not squandered since Overwatch has done so well, they still spent years developing unused assets and mechanics for Titan.

    I want to play now!

I'm stocking up drinks and snacks for launch. Problem is I keep eating the snacks and drinking the alcohol so I keep buying more. It's not a big problem, it's okay, I can handle it I'm getting more tomorrow don't worry guys.
  11. There are a number of things, most of them are blanket statements too. Like some people think that all of us (or most of us) only want to play because it's free. I know that's not true for anyone I met playing, though I'm sure there are some out there who wouldn't pay and wouldn't be here with money involved. I think they think that merely because it is free, they think that must be the reason. Any way they dismiss it, it usually revolves around some misapprehension, or partially correct thing, and then they blanket the entire enterprise with that conclusion. "Everyone will get tired of farming MC in a week, good luck with that" - while they don't realize that people have been doing just that on Nost. They just don't know what's happening and how different the game is these days. And those who do remember it might recall some of the worse parts and then put it out of their miinds, or they accept that they'll never have the magic of early WoW back. Also, many people just don't trust Private servers, Torrents, or any of that kind of shady dealings. Many are convinced their retail accounts would be banned instantly if they played on Private, or don't believe it is actually that close to original; they think it's full of cheaters/dupers/instant-60 type things. They just don't understand, and many don't really want to either - they dismiss it as "Illegal, so GTFO" and don't really engage much more with the subject. There's a lack of nuance, but that's not really anything new I suppose for fans of things.

    Priest Leveling Guide

Yes, I read your post. Those bolded words are your own invention, it's hardly a basis for theorycrafting. You began your post by claiming something that was only true if your numbers were unassailable, but they're easily put into question. But okay, we know Priests use their wands loads so let's pretend it's 50%. How is dealing 2% more damage worth taking 15% more damage? I mean if any other class was able to decide "okay... next level I can decide between 2% more damage or.. take 15% less damage" it would be a no-brainer. edit - oh yeah I forgot another reason. You can multi-DoT. You cannot multi-Wand. Any time you fight more than one target it seems the extra damage from your spells would outstrip the damage your Wand does to them.

    Paladin professions?

Go Skinning/Mining to begin. Then save some skins for Engi, get your Mount, and respec to Engineering sometime on the way to 60. I find that there are so many skins to get through the basic leveling quests that it's tough to justify respeccing out of skinning before Un'Goro, but since you won't be hurting for money quite as much as a Paladin, you have some lee-way. You can probably nearly save enough for your epic mount before 60 though if you're keen.

  17. Mmm yeah that does sound pretty great. Speaking of which - have you played Shadow Warrior before? So much good demon slaying fun. With Sword-play too. Give it a try, it's super cheap at this point since the second one just came out. At least toss it on your Steam Wishlist, so when it goes on Sale in a few weeks you can get it for super cheap.

Okay here's a few more for you guys to pick over. So many things happening you'd never see today. Here is a random group of low-level characters raiding Splintertree Post since we'd seen Horde attacking Astranaar for the past weeks, and our dear Auberdine was even attack recently. So many people just ran south with us from Auberdine, some even came from Darnassus who weren't even level 10 yet. They just wanted to fight back against the Horde, since no one knew about anything, it was just about "striking back against their vile touch" and the like. It was probably one of the first times I'd seen Dwarves. You saw all sorts of people saluting one another, /bowing and having little RP conversations about their journey to get to Ashenvale and then charging into battle together. It was really cute when I think back on it now. From January 1, 2005: http://imgur.com/a/XuuDY I'll start posting some more ones from later in Vanilla too, I have some good ones but I need to upload them later.

    Forum censoring

Agreed. We're all adults so we don't need curse words to communicate - and if we do say "you piece of фекал" - it's pretty obvious what it's supposed to be. No skin off my nose, and in the meantime I get to pretend like I an learning another language.

I have hundreds of screens from Vanilla. Some non-UI, most with. Here's a few from Dec. 27, 2004 Screenshot that Ghamoo-ra guild kill - 9 people in the raid iirc. Does he respawn? Black Fathom Depths - "raid" wipe on the naga after Ghamoo-ra We never made it past that pool. As far as I recall, it was my only foray into dungeons on that character. I leveled slowly over the next months and stopped playing until I met some friends at work who played on another server, so I made a Mage with them and barely looked back. That druid is still in Tanaris, wearing mostly green quest items.
  21. Undead Female Rogues have that nifty flip they do on finishing moves & Gouge, it's pretty sweet. Plus you can use Deviate Delights to make yourself a Pirate.
