Keep rank 1 Fireball on hand for a quick DoT to make it more difficult to restealth. Also keep Rank 1 Blizzard for a quick AoE to get them out of stealth if they Vanish without any DoTs. Learn how to kite using Cone of Cold and practice using Frost Nova without being in Melee range. Oh yeah and also keep a Rank 1 Arcane Explosion on your bars.

I played on both servers up to 60. Neither had low population. Both were higher population than most retail servers were. And it's bound to even be higher now with all the shutdown/startup hype. All the servers are going to be healthy, if not over populated. We are all on team high population!

We need to treat each other better
Xom replied to Crowley's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Holy hell dude... you come into a thread asking for people to treat eachother better.... And you then call people s.hit posters? What is wrong with you? Your "Debate" has been closed and concluded for over a decade. Stop wasting your time on this фекал. No one is going to agree with you. -
Looks like the PvE realm is going to be launched same time as the old PvP realm! I was hoping it would be like this, even though it makes me have to decide between my chars on either realm, I'm glad the old existing realms are both starting up at the same time.

The Final Test — World PvP Events & Release Date
Xom replied to Shenna's topic in Official Information
Holy balls. I woke up and there's 38,305 people signed up for the stress test! -
I nearly didn't respond because I felt you had said what I felt with pictures. Glad I did reply, that's pretty ridiculous. Like I said above - this фекал has been settled for over a decade so your replies were perfectly legitimate forms of communication. Sad. Oh well moving on~

will special characters be allowed in names?
Xom replied to Crowley's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Agreed. Everyone should be encouraged to be creative within the existing framework. It is not difficult and would benefit everyone. It's objectively more difficult for the entire population when you are unable to see a name and refer to a friend easily "Invite... uh ummm..I can't figure out how to type their name... uhh.. it has.. nevermind let's get someone else." Or if you want to message that really good tank from yesterday but you forget that he had a tiny lil accent on one of the first letters of his name so you're SoL now. But okay - if it goes through that we have symbols and you're someone who loves symbols, fine - PLEASE DON'T USE IT ON THE FIRST LETTER. Auto-complete was the only way I could figure how to message some people. Seems like shooting yourself in the foot if you choose to have symbols. Then again, I remember when people on PvP realms roleplayed and would report "bad names" for breaking immersion, so I may be biased in my desire to have more real names out there anyway. -
I wanna roll a druid, could anyone give me the lowdown on them?
Xom replied to Edwin Van Queef's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Most mobile PvP healer, and someone who utilizes stuns/snares and kites like a madman will almost never die. From the Druids I've known, they say their enjoyment in the game increases greatly the more "Off-Spec" sets they gather. Some people like just one role and they do Heal quite well, but Druids really shine if you are interested in at least one of the other roles they can fulfill. Being so diverse was one thing I enjoyed playing one years back. I could join a group and prettymuch just switch forms or switch gear and be good to go for any group. Once you get 60 - well those above have covered that well enough. Druids are pretty rare compared to other classes, so you'll never be want for a group. Good luck out there! -
Man, no offense but you have a reading comprehension problem. I never said you should only stack +dmg. I said it should be the first priority. This was settled more than a decade ago. Please go read what I wrote again with that in mind. No one has said "Ignore Intellect it's bad". Your anecdotal evidence about there being some +dmg gear out there proves only that you misinterpreted the point I was making. You created some straw-man argument about someone who is dumb enough to stack only +dmg and then say he'll run OOM - well no фекал Sherlock, no one was saying that it was a good idea to not have any other stats on their gear. We're saying that you'll naturally just have enough mana by putting on the best item you have available because that's how gear works. Most Caster items naturally have Intellect on them, enough that you don't need to go out of your way to say, enchant a weapon to get more. You are conflating my statements and taking фекал out of context - or maybe you're trolling now who knows at this point. Good luck out there.

As we all know, Classic WoW has many marvelous eons of grinding of all kinds to indulge ourselves. Some of it is small in scope and some of it is epoch striding. Whether the way we attain our next Tier or PvP gear, or studiously crafting up a trade skill, or how someone gets Rank14 after months, or finishing the grind and hitting the Gong for AQ!... or if it's how we just finally get our new weapon up to snuff for raids - it consumes our choices. Which one will you pursue today? And what will you actually revel in as you do? Some of these include farming (or battling for) resource nodes, farming mobs, farming rep, farming dungeons for gear, or even those constant leveling altoholics, but they all hold that one overarching principle in mind: do this again and again until you are rewarded (hopefully). Some people are unable to bring themselves to do something without qualms, and will bleat to guild chat the entire time they slog through something that is not necessary, but let us speak mostly of the grinds that are actually enjoyable to you. We all enjoy slightly different incremental increases in this game - but feel free to chime in with what you hate as well if you must. For me I have always enjoyed the process of grinding elite melee mobs on my Mage, since they give me some modicum of practice for PvP fighting melee classes and kiting. The loot isn't bad too. They also give a good approximation to what it's like to pull aggro and then practice Blinking through the mob to kite back towards the imaginary Tank. I also can't get enough of grinding dungeons while leveling a Warrior in order to make my gear top notch. It's so cake to make groups if you're a competent tank that you're almost always rocking full blue gear. I'll also add that I love PvP so much, but PvP Grinding is something I have not done since back in retail. It was my most Beloved Grind at the time for sure, I just have yet to experience it adequately since then. Sooon! Oh yesss~ So what do you enjoy grinding? What activity will you gleefully sign up for time and again while others may quizzically reconsider?

I like the sound of Alchemy so much I'll go out and Herb a few bunches just so I can swish around some plant matter in vials and revel in the burbling.

I like the fuzzy feeling of totems. This doesn't mean my Healer must be a Shaman, but I'm always excited when one is in my group - also Ankh is real good for wipe recovery. Now if one of your DPS is a Shaman too? Oohh yeah more totems! And if I'm on my Warrior my best friend is Windfury, so if you know that guy and bring him out I'm bound to love you. Most of my time played has been on Horde, but when I did try Alliance as a Paladin I was amazed by how dauntless they are at keeping their group protected and buffed through judgements and blessings while also putting out top notch heals inside an immunity bubble. Judgements are great, and no other class has a stun quite as strong as HoJ that you can toss out on any big beefy melee or for interrupting casters. I feel Paladin and Shaman have the highest potential for versatility outside of healing - both giving amazing +dmg buffs to their groups, interrupts with HoJ/Earthshock, plus also having wonderful group mana regen in their Blessings/Totems. They both are wipe protection with Bubble/Lay on Hands/Sac/Ankh. But all that said, I leveled a Priest later on and fell in love with the ability to sit outside the 5 second rule by using big heals topped off with a Renew and then Wanding. And while leveling with Spirit Tap, you blast through instances when you learn how to snipe death kills and never run close to OOM while dealing damage and healing. Fortitude is a big increase to slightly undergeared folks health pool too, and can be the difference sometimes in a tough fight when adds are pulled and people accidentally grab aggro; and then there's Fear that can be the most effective way that any Healer has to remove damage from the group since it's AoE and removes all damage from the group allowing kiting/CC to be established. It makes the Priest, along with Mind Control, to give the most ability out of any healer to remove a threat from the group. Have a PvP god-team you can't kill? MC/Fear that Healer and burst down the squishiest target, then kill the Healer as you Fear off the DPS. Same thing with if there's an add group, they have that panic button to press to be able to break everything up off your team to let you get things in order and establish distance/snares on the mobs. For Druids.. um I like it when a HoT is on my Warrior and i Charge, leaving a trail of green leafy shinies in my wake. Also Thorns is decent for AoE threat gain. I haven't spent much time playing with Druids since there are not many usually. I really like Druid healers in PvP since a good one can be so slippery and impossible to kill if they play right and kite effectively.

I've always had a soft spot for Happyminti <Nerf Sap 5. The entire series is pretty great, where the first video was when at level 51/52 mostly fighting a bunch of rather shoddy 60 Warriors in world PvP - here's Nerf Sap 1. Even up into TBC Arenas I was stoked when a new video came out. There's a bunch in the series if you're in the mood for average/decent gear PvP rather than dripping in purples. But if you're into dripping in purples... > Caen - Apathy - Thunderfury ^ is pretty good to watch an UD Female flip around with a Thunderfury and full T2; pretty boss.

They put spell damage in the game because spells didn't scale with gear. Casters were hitting like a wet noodle compared to melee classes. You should always be stacking the most +dmg potency into your spells as your first priority, since you will rarely ever be running OOM. If you do, downrank, or rely more on Mp/5. Sure, if you have purely +spell damage gear and no other stats that wouldn't work so well, but that's not going to happen, it's not how the game's gearing works. Just think about it like a vehicle with a massive Fuel Tank besides one with massive Torque/Acceleration. Increased longevity will only result in benefits if that limit of fuel is reached. This rarely happens with standard gear at 60, and especially as you move into Raids. Yes, your mana is precious - but it is not the most precious thing. Your ability to throw out the most potent spells available is the goal. Things happen so frantically these days. Fights are counted in Seconds, not Minutes. And this is all discounting the buffs you'll have on you when you're actually in a place where your longevity is taken into account. And by the time you're asked to DPS for a solid few minutes in a raid, you should be able to do so without reducing your damage capabilities in order to extend your longevity. In the end, by the time you get to a level where you can actually pick and choose your stats and swap gear in and out, you'll have enough mana to do most fights just by base Intellect found on gear at 60. ps - and killerduki your #6 point is flawed. You can't just compare 31 int vs 31 spell power and call it a day since Stat Weights are a thing.

The Greatest list of Pros vs. Cons on what server to play.
Xom replied to Applesauce's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Hear hear. I enjoy better itemized loot and improved quest reward upgrades as much as the next person. We have been steeped in min/maxing for the past decade, so we hardly need the leg-up. There are good items, but they're rare and sometimes only random BoE drops. This breeds scarcity of completely BiS items which also makes it so much more impressive when you actually get to equip a bunch of them. Back in retaildays, I was probably one of the first people to rejoice in the new quest rewards and itemization improvements. As someone who was constantly leveling new characters to learn mechanics, this came as a massive improvement to the gear we were getting. Thing is that all the mobs stayed the same and dungeons got even easier when everyone was better geared just by standard, not by choice nor RNG tribulation. Back then the difference was pretty noticeable to someone who had seen so many raggedly geared people trying their damnedest to get a few scraps of gear on their way to 60. Well now they came into dungeons that much more powerful which is great for the individual, but it makes things trivial for most who know the game inside-out. My ideal would be to have the improved itemization on top of mobs/bosses being buffed and even have new mechanics to make it tougher for raids. That's beyond a pipe-dream though and I don't expect it to happen, it would be much too difficult to code for the entire game. But hell, I'd be game for them to buff all damage by all mobs by 5% or even 10% to make things tougher. -
Nope, Sweeping Strikes is far and away superior. Remember that Cleave does have a CD called the Swing Timer. Also most important to note is that the increase in damage is only the Improved Damage, not overall damage of the ability. This means that for 3 points you gain about 114 damage on a Cleave. As a leveling ability it is just not worth the points it costs. Especially where it is on the talent tree, all of the other options are better than a few more +dmg on your cleaves. I mean why not just increase your Battle Shout, since it'll be giving your more damage to ALL your attacks rather than a paltry few on one which is rarely used? To that point, even Blood Craze as a leveling talent would out-pace Imp Cleave since you'll be taking more crits than just about any other class since you're in melee range without stuns or heals of your own for the entire time. Not to mention how amazing SS is for tanking leveling dungeons. AoE threat becomes much less of an issue when you learn to stance dance with a good ol' Sweeping Strikes->WW->Thunderclap combo.

The Waiting Game - What are you playing right now?
Xom replied to Lootolf's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
When Nost first shut down I played a hundred+ hours of Banished. Then got a hundred+ into Cities Skylines. Then finally crested above 500+ on Civ 5. Picked up INSIDE, from the makers of LIMBO and have been enjoying the atmosphere and fantastic puzzle platforming. From that, then into a bunch of This War of Mine & Renowned Explorers with the most recent steam sale. Pretty much trying to go through my backlog of games and playing them to death so I won't feel I have a bunch of great unplayed games kicking around. I usually just Wishlist any worthwhile game that I want and only buy them on Sale, so while I only play games that are over a half-year old or more, I rarely pay more than half price. I have Doom but I'm waiting till i get a new computer to play it. Recently just picked up Ori and the Blind Forest, will check it out next. -

Well you're wrong there fella on both counts. -
I'd say go Herb/Alch or Mining/Engi. Both have great benefits for Warriors. Herb/Alch is better for helping others, and better for making mone, while Alchemy Transmutes are money in the bank. Engineering is arguably much more fun though. I've leveled multiple Warriors, two with Herb/Alch (Vanilla) one with Mine/BS (TBC) and then a couple on Nost, one as Engineer. You will always have benefits from Alchemy, it takes a bit of work to make Engineering worth it - but it will be if you work at it. Engineering fills in some good parts in a Warrior's arsenal for both tanking and PvP. I'd say if you're planning on PvE a lot you'd get more benefit from Alchemy, while for more PvP I'd say Engineering. Overall though, Alchemy is one of the most useful professions in the game, so you can't go wrong with either.
