    Where is Nano?

Sure seems that way. Of course, the origin mystery remains.
  2. On the side in favor of this leak, non-gold buyers. On the side against it, gold buyers pretending otherwise. (You're not fooling anybody. I hope you're in there.) Fight it out!
  3. I see what you're getting at, and I like it. But I'm still wondering, how do you engineer the application process so that the admins don't have to filter thousands of automated applications that we know the parasites will produce?
  4. That's a fantastic idea. Admin approval for individual VPN accounts. Would create more work for them, though... I wonder if there's a way to set that up so that they wouldn't have to spend all day denying applications, or worrying about which one was likely to be legit?
  5. This thread is packed to the brim with gold-buyers and accounts owned by gold sellers, all scrambling this way and that to discourage public demand for something that would stop them.
  6. Okay, Shozo. How would you go about reducing gold selling as drastically as possible, if you don't like extreme, vigilante measures? I agree it would be an absurd for physical harm to come to these people. But a little catastrophe in the form of having to cancel their credit card? I think maybe they've got some frustration coming, considering the amount of frustration they cause all of us, and the sheer lack of respect they have for people who like to play fair. That's what it's about, to me. I'm tired of having to endure the consequences of other people's short-sighted selfishness. I'm not alone. Most of us want punishment of some kind on this people. We want them gone - out of our hobby. Again, I agree physical harm is unconscionable. Unacceptable. But you don't see any of us sharpening pitchforks. What makes you think physical harm is a remotely likely outcome, considering the actual data in the dumps?
  7. The dodgykebab out is the stuff of internet legends. Let me be a reminder, folks: People will say anything and pretend to any kind of virtue when it servers their own agenda. Consider this when you read all of the people crying for leniency, and the people who are against VPN bans*. *Not everyone against a VPN ban is obviously full of shit. I'd say about three-quarters. You guys all know who you are.
  8. Nice try, blooper. That guy is a man of the people. The sort of guy you send BTC to. He plays it cool, like it's no big deal, but I know a man who's tired of gold spam when I see him.

    CLOSED <Hurricane> is leaving Elysium

Thanks for answering my questions, Selvic. I'll PM you with our Discord info. Welcome board! ... Additionally, our pre-launch guild meeting is complete! After some discussion we have decided on our raid schedule: Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, 7PM PST to 10 PM PST at the latest, during progression. One day will be cut when all available raid content is on farm, to be re-introduced with new raids. I've updated the main post to reflect this.
  10. Lol at the idea of the FBI investigating the hacking of dubiously legal chinese videogame money farming sites.

Hey Selvic, and Sidehug! Selvic, what sorts of games do you like to play, generally? Do you have any experience using voice chat for gaming? I heavily emphasize that. You might find the environment a little oppressive if you're not used to playing with others exclusively. There's a lot of guilds around that'll let you do your own thing, and while I consider HUR newbie friendly, this recruitment is mostly targeting people with experience in WoW or MMOs in general, and are used to playing in groups. That said, if you're still interested after reading this, and believe you're a good fit anyway, I'll toss you an invite. Just let me know. Sidehug, I'd love another veteran holy pally. They're invulnerable beacons of healing justice.
  12. LOL. Yo, Elysium staff. You recognize any of those logins? That look legit to you? Any of em' you didn't catch? Looks like free honorable kills to me. Good opportunity to further intimidate buyers. If that dump is legit, I recommend leaving it up on these forums as a grisly warning. Shit, maybe even sticky it. Let their login credentials burn in hell.

    Where is Nano?

At risk of feeding the racing flames of speculation, I wonder if this is related in some round-about way to the disappearance of the Nostalrius edit: forums and the abandonment of the token system? From the outside, this rather looks like a falling out between the two teams, particularly if it's more than just Nano - a claim I haven't seen substantiated, mind you.

    Where is Nano?

For what it's worth, Pottu is logged in at this exact moment.

Welcome, Strangebrew, Zodiac and Rondait! Strangebrew, I think you'll enjoy Paladin in that role. Between blessing of protection and divine shield, Pallies are really good at denying kills. They're probably my favorite healer to group with pvp for that reason. Zodiac, any of those choices can work at this point. When I saw low demand, that means I've got one or two spots left. If there's really too many I'll change it to full. If you want a good leveling time and good raiding prospects, I'd go rogue or mage. Feral druid is fun to play, but, well, y'know. We do have our token feral spot open though, so it's an option! Warrior is terrible to level but great at the end. Rondait, our token ret spot is still available, so you have your choice. As for Wrath, like many others, that was the last expansion I mostly enjoyed. I'm not a fan of multiple difficulties on raids (which Wrath introduced) for a number of reasons, not the least of which is that they rob the majority of the player base from the motivation to try the stuff on top. Saw that constantly in FF14. Anyway, I've PM'ed you all our Discord info. There's a meeting today discussing our launch day plans and some other stuff, too. Info is in the PM. Looking forward to playing with you!

  17. I am absolutely in favor of select VPN bans that target gold farming. To those of you who tell us we should be afraid of DDOSes, well, you're telling us to get our pants down around our ankles or we might get hurt for resisting. I find that disgusting. I'm more than happy to have a few cumulative weeks of downtime to take out the garbage.

Hey, thanks for posting, spicy, Lopez, raid and Kurupt! In sequential order: spicyboy, we're big on communication. I can't promise you it won't be a problem if you join, but if you can make yourself understood for basic MMO stuff, and understand me in the same way, that's good enough for me. I'm more than happy to give it a try. Lopezdaheavy, I liked TBC's raids. They weren't too far off of how Vanilla was designed, besides being a little smaller, obviously. Our priest and hunter count has mostly evened out, so feel free to pick your favorite. RaidNaked, yeah, I chose DKP because it just tends to make people happier. I should warn you that legendaries are loot counciled (not like Hunters had any in vanilla lol), but everything else is just DKP with simple priorities; i.e. Hunters can override a Warrior trying to bid on a bow, so loot is distributed efficiently. I'm of the opinion that loot council systems are really only justifiable when you're pushing for server firsts, which I don't plan on. Kurupt, I'm hesitant to commit exact hours just yet. I was going to hold off until we were all nearing 60, but membership is taking off more quickly than I expected. I can say some certainty it'll fall within a 6-8 PM PST starting time on some combination of Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. I'm mostly seeing preference towards the 8 PM end, but I need to poll a few key players on their availability before I can give you a concrete answer. Feel free to join for a bit, no one will hassle you if you find a better match and want to change boats. Anyway, PM'd you all with our Discord info!
  19. Yeah, having watched the video, I'm not terribly worried. The token fiasco may have damaged public confidence, but on the Elysium side they seem pretty ban happy, if the constant stream of butthurt on these forums is any indicator of activity.

Have you compared the exploration run to just killing animals? I did a little bit of both on the old servers, and the dynamic respawn system native to these servers was sufficient to make killing viable 1-5 even when the servers first came up. My experience with that was in the gnome/dwarf starting area, so it may be different for us as nelfs.
  21. Let's assume for a moment that the unthinkable happens and Activision-Blizzard somehow exerts enough monetary/legal/political might to forcibly take your servers offline. How would you react? I'd like to point out that a lot of confidence in the Elysium/Nostalrius project stemmed from the ability to reincarnate characters from a dead server. That practice also sends a powerful, even essential message to Blizzard: You cut off one head of the hydra, and others will spring up in its place. As we're probably seeing the Nostalrius end of things going AWOL and abandoning the completely essential token system, the reincarnation has stopped. That tells Blizzard that legal weight is an effective strategy to stopping projects like this. It makes it that much more likely that they'll try to move against Elysium. So, do you guys have contingency plans to preserve your work, if the unlikely happens? Are you creating the backups necessary to pass the torch on to a new team? Do you have people who are both willing and able to manage a token system long after the fact? ... Response difficulty level: No childish WERE INVULNERABLE HERE!! NO LAWYER CAN STOP US!!! Rules get bent and broken when enough money's involved.

    Have Blind Faith in Nost

It does look like an awful lot like the Nost end of things has abandoned their end of the project. If they were simply on holiday there would have been at least one "hey, hold tight, I'll fix it in a week or two". Supposedly the new Elysium staff took in parts of the Nostalrius team, but it clearly wasn't anyone with access to or the ability to fix the problem. I'd hazard an educated guess that the people actually capable of fixing the problem/have access to the databases themselves are extremely few in number. Possibly even one or two people. And it very much looks like they no longer give a shit. This is extremely bad for the longevity of classic WoW projects, as the ability for people to get their characters back after a takedown is essential to proving to Blizzard that they have to tolerate this community (or produce classic servers of their own). Whoever you Nost boys are, your work isn't done. If you quit now you're abandoning your own mission statement.
  23. This thread needs to be stickied, lmao.

Hey Drifter, you sound like our kind of guy. You going to try to snipe a login when the server just goes up? It'd be great to have somebody else to push the nelf starting zone with. I've got the my route down to a science, but I'll need somebody with me to do the relics quest ahead of the curve. Either way, welcome aboard! PM'd you a link to our discord.
