Nice. Thanks, Cotton! We're heavy on gnomes and dwarves so far, so you won't have any trouble finding people to group with in the starting areas. And Stephy baby, you've already cut your teeth in content ten times as difficult as anything WoW vanilla will throw at you, up until the tail end of Naxxaramus. Honestly, Naxx didn't have anything as complicated as this: Because all of the raids were balanced around getting 40 people to do things right, the skill demand on individuals was much lower. Even the infamous Four Horsemen wasn't as complex, when you look at it in terms of reaction time and skill demands on an individual, as this, and it was the guild breaker of its time.

I'm having a vision. I see you, in the near future, getting your wish. But it is a curse! You can't log in for a full three weeks after launch! I see queues of 30,000, around the clock! Your estimated wait time stretches into infinity. In anger, you post and post on the forums, until the mods are so sick of you that you are banned. Then you watch in anguish and confusion as players descend on this thread by the thousands, voices united in calling you a complete and total shit for brains I see you reaching for a gun. Your hand is trembling as you cock the trigger and level it on your temples. ... And then, darkness. I see no more. Be careful what you wish for.

Can we at least double the spawn rate of quest items in the new Server...?
cybaster replied to Tekdrake's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Consider me on the "give this crap a fast respawn" boat. I'm glad to hear they're lumping it into the dynamic system. In the meantime, kill boars. Don't even bother with these quests in populated zones. You'll make more silver and exp per hour by an order of magnitude just hoovering up random animals in the forest. -
Catashtrophe countermeasure bump. I was hoping I'd never have to resort to that word, but when one person is necrobumping clumps of 20 threads on to the front page, desperate measures are called for.

I like the current timeline. I'm introducing a bunch of people to Vanilla WoW in my guild <Hurricane>, and this gives them the opportunity to actually play the game at every tier in a normal manner. I don't feel pressured to slam them face-first into Molten Core on Week 3, and they'd hate me for doing so. Take some time to enjoy the game. Experience the whole thing, or if you've already experienced it to shreds like I have, adopt some newbies and bask in their enjoyment. And anyway, you know what bored players (the cool ones, anyway) do when they've got nothing better to do? They raid cities and towns. That shit makes the world live and breathe.

Druids can shapeshift out of mindflay
cybaster replied to Ravid's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Oh snap. The Facts Machine is up in here. -
I have updated our thread with our current class needs. We are currently in desperate need of Priests, particularly of the Dwarven variety. The token Ret Paladin, Feral and Shadow Priest spots (required to raid as healer until the debuff limit raises to 16) are, somehow, unclaimed. Secure coveted raiding spots for these detested builds while you can!

You are the "idea guy" at Blizzard...
cybaster replied to Antipatra's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
As the idea man at Blizzard, an endangered and hunted species, I dodge from cubicle to cubicle, deftly and desperately avoiding Bobby Kotick's hit squads, who will chain me up in the basement and shock my nuts with a car battery until I agree to implement microtransactions that will strip mine my project's player base. In brief moments of safety I, and those like me, develop and code with quiet fingers and hushed voices, the knowledge that each day might be our last hanging heavily over all. It's a touch and go life, guerilla development, but one day I dream of uniting what's left of Blizzard and freeing Morhaime from the oubliette, and going back to the old days, when everything I did wasn't sculpted by fear. Edit: Oh, sorry. What was the question? I got a little off track. -
^ Pretty much. And let's not forget those poor Warlocks, who have to play weird builds pre-ZG patch to make things work for them. If they removed the cap, or raised the limit early, they'd have to raise boss hitpoints proportionately to compensate for the reduced difficulty/clear times.

Customization of Content & Gold Farmers
cybaster replied to Ram's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
The change to DM-North was excellent. It was not intended to get rid of gold sellers. It was intended to slow the rate of currency inflation by removing a glaring design flaw - not one of those cool design flaws that made vanilla special, but a design flaw that would gradually destroy the server. All of this blah blah blah it's already too late blah blah blah rhetoric is so half-assed. It isn't remotely believeable. If you've suffered terrible burns already, do you keep standing in the fire? Sure, if you want to die. Start worrying when they stop making changes like this. That means they're standing in fire. -
Ah. Weird. Thanks for the info. See you on Discord, Cotton!

Truly, we are witnessing the birth of a new eSport. We need a catchy name for this. Twitching? Damming - like, damming a stream? No, those are terrible. Any ideas?
-
Hey Cotton! I'd encourage priest, we're low on that right now... Especially Dwarf Priest. Those are gold. That said, there's still a tank spot open, according to my scheduling document of the bureaucrat, so play whatever you like. Wait a minute. Cotton, cottons? Same person, or a bizarre coincidence? And welcome to you, Vond! You're the first person to dibs the token ret spot. Make it count. PMs sent!

Welcome, Fenyen. Can never have too many rogues. You going human for sword spec? And, PM'ed you our Discord! Now I need a nap, so I'll chat with you later.

Gold Buyers: the real problem?
cybaster replied to Dralek's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
I'm with the ban their VPNs and base IP ranges camp. The fear of DDOS retaliation is ridiculous and defeatist. I don't care if we lose a few hours here and there while the demonstrably agile Elysium/Nost team adapt their defenses. The servers were working admirably on the launch days when they were both being hammered by multiple DDOSes and tens of thousands of impatient players. I definitely agree that zero tolerance is the only way to go. Like Everquest said, any grace will be abused. In short, fuck em' all to death! -
Welcome, fellas! I've PMed you both links to our Discord. Don't be strangers. Marnix, you're a brave soul to go Lock straight away, while the 8 debuff limit is in force. But we definitely want at least two for CoS/CoE early on. Awesome class in PVP right out the door. Blackshadows, I'm going warrior, too! Do you prefer to tank or dps in raids? We've probably got our MT sorted out - one of my imports that I was doing savage raids in FF14 with. Of course, she might hate the game. Who knows. I was a DPS baby in vanilla so I intend to repeat that unless we have a tank shortage for some reason.

[GUIDE] Fury Pre-Raid-BiS-List / Specs / Enchants(Updated to Patch 1.8)
cybaster replied to Mitycircin's topic in Warrior
My experience with it in retail vanilla was that it was significantly stronger in all of MC and most if not all of BWL, for the itemization reasons you've already been told about. It definitely falls behind in AQ40, as by then you have access to some fantastic hit gear like the Breastplate of Annihilation Where dual wield passes two handed fury is a matter of some debate. I couldn't tell you with certainty. Just start strong with 2H fury and aim to switch late BWL or early AQ40. As an added perk, you're going to get priority on 2handers as you're the only person in the raid who can effectively use them. Not competing with the rogues makes how your raid uses loot more efficient. -
Thanks for your interest, Sunny. We'd be glad to have you along. Got a race in mind? I'm going nelf out of tradition - and a love of shadowmeld. I'm playing Warrior which is pure misery at low levels, so I'm looking for people to carry m- Uh, I mean, people to group with when the servers go up. I'll be poop sockin' it. PM'd you, of course!

RAID HOURS: Evenings (PST) Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday, exact hours TBA. Applications: Please refer to our Recruitment thread. -
Everquest! The more old guard, the merrier. I took a crack at that way after the fact on Project 1999. Didn't get much farther than the north Ro desert due to time constraints, but the game was weirdly compelling, after the shock of the grind wore off. My first major MMO was DAoC. I might have even been trying to set up on the returning pserver Uthgard, but I'd rather experience vanilla again more. Anyway, let me PM you a link to our Discord!

I wrote a Getting Started guide for complete newbies to the PVP ruleset and Classic WoW in general, particularly Alliance newbies. Written with the first time login in mind, it briefly describes the tricks we all take for granted, and well-known pitfalls to avoid. I did my best to be thorough while keeping things short. Help Im New: Getting Started as Alliance on Elysium-PVP Feedback is welcome.

Hi valor! Do I know you on some other alias, or are you just now making yourself known?
-
Great! Always good to have another old guard to show the new guys the ropes. Let me PM you a link to our Discord server, and we can chat at your leisure. By the way, what time zone are you in? I should probably include that we're an NA-based Guild generally play afternoons and evenings, Pacific.
