Warm welcome to the new members of the development team! :) Imagine this guys : - 500 or more small servers scattered all over the world - each server with his own player base (let's say some 500-1000 active players, in some crude aproximation) - this crude "statistic" shows us that we have at least some 750 000 ACTIVE players scattered around on many small servers - each of this server teams and some of the "loud" community members always seem to stress out and make negative steps towards another server development - with all the drama and b1tching they throw at each other, much energy that was supposed for development gets poured into bashing and trashing each other - that leads to only one thing, breaking up of communitys and the fall of servers which had countless hours of work put into them Now what can we do? - exactly what Elysium has started with it's "merging" projects policy - imagine in a year or so 10+ servers merged together - that would mean 10 times more available development craft to polish and fix server issues - with every new server merging into this Legacy Project, there would be 1 less server throwing hate and negativity at us, and in return it would give more players and developers here - more players means more money trough donations. More money at a certain point could also mean buying up a server machine of it's own, only for the purpose of the Legay project? - people when united are more powerfull then anything else, we need to get on top of each attempt to fracture and dismantle this now growing bond of players and developers from servers and projects all around the world --- just imagine what a group of 100 000 active players and some let's say 5000 developers can do to a server? In theory we have the capability to create real Blizzlike Vanilla servers. Just needs some hardcore organization skills, think you guys should get some 2-3 people to keep every merging situation clean and on the record. This now open source community work will be much more efficient if the volunteer developer community is somehow guided into working at certain server issues at a time --- Cheers eveyone, it's always good to read positive news :) Seemenot, the little gnome.
