    New players

They haven't really said one way or the other, anything is possible. Crestfall has said they definitely have plans to progress into TBC, and possible WOTLK. So if you're looking for something a little more "definite" keep an eye out over there, but that won't be for quite a while so...
  2. My money is on the fresh server. I think PVE will be second and Nost PvP will have the lowest - after all servers are released that is.

    Rolling on the Fresh Realm

Once the fresth server starts everyone should check in again so see who ended up on which side. I was 100% going Alliance, but I'm really on the fence now because I sorta wanted to roll a Shaman since I never got past leve 20 with one - but Horde RP just seems a little less cozy to me.

Wenches, old bats, harpy hags, etc.....

Check their profile, or if you read enough of their posts it comes out in one way or another.

I do think in a game that is mostly played by men, if you get someone to think for even a second that you just might be female you will get treated a little better. Whether it's a toon ingame or an avatar. It's a viable strategy. I haven't seen any active female posters in my time on these forums yet. Maybe you'll have better luck in game.

    Ninja looting allowed?

Serial ninjas will make a name for themselves here, everybody ends up knowing everybody after a while on these servers. I remember there was that night elf rogue on Nost, he would hang out every day for hours in IF offering to open lockboxs for free, he would give you random crap and keep your real loot. He was eventually busted and most people wouldn't use his "services" anymore. Not exactly the same type of ninja, but the moral of this story is the same.
  7. Although I don't have a sub over there, I check in at least once a day over on retail's forums (mostly just to read the stickied legacy server thread), some of the players are SO angry at this server and the people who intend to play on it. Lots of keyboard lawyers for the most part. I can't really figure out what/how another person chooses to play games on their own time has anything to do with them. Are they worried players are going to leave that sinking ship for the greener pastures of vanilla? Either way it's entertaining to read.
  8. While blizzard is hiding their numbers (for obvious reasons) it's not hard to read between the lines. For the first time they've have to implement CRZ in current content because there aren't enough players. And the players are not happy about this. Also if you read the forums you see just how many guilds have collapsed due to players leaving. Also looked around this link it's pretty interesting : http://www.warcraftrealms.com/weeklyactivity.php?serverid=-1
  9. Blizzard didn't shut down Nost. Nost shut down Nost to further the legacy movement. Ever WoW private server receives C&D, all of them ignore it and are still up and running. (Some for many many years) Blizzard is greedy but they aren't dumb. Look at the backlash they received from the Nost situation. People are already unsubbing retail at record rates, a lot of those players play both retail and private servers, do you think they want to further piss off the hand that feeds? Even if they so somehow shut down Elysium, we will just up and move to the next server in line. And if servers will follow Nost lead and hand over characters our toons can live on forever. Blizzard does not have it in them to fight. We are Goliath in this situation.
  10. I know this differs from private server to server, I also know it wasn't allowed in retail vanilla. So I was wondering if both factions are playable under one account? I know you can simply make a second account to play the other faction if needed, I was just curious.
  11. I don't need to taste poop to know that I wouldn't enjoy eating it. Simply reading the changes that have happened with the last few expansions is more than enough knowledge to know that I wouldn't enjoy what the games become through the years. And yes a retail player can look back on how things were in vanilla, without ever playing it, and know that they wouldn't like it. So it works both ways for sure, but you don't necessarily have to experience it personally to know that you wouldn't like something.
  12. Hard to argue with that science when it's staring you right in the face. (Or math)
  13. What about Elysium? When the fresh server releases is it going to be set up the same as the Nost servers? I assume so, but figured I'd ask anyways.
  14. I don't trust blizzard to handle legacy servers properly. They are driven solely by greed, they are incapable of putting out anything genuine now. I hope they stay far far away from legacy servers forever.
  15. I always forget "bbc" is a news channel too. Makes me giggle.
  16. There is more to this game than raiding, and there is more to builds and "variety" than just what it amounts to in a raid. I played from vanilla to wrath and never cared for raiding, I never cared for the pigeon-hole mentality that Ray said vanilla was. I enjoyed other aspects of the game which held plenty of variety. I truly believe every race, class, spec is viable to a player with an open mind. You'll always have your elites and the mentality that comes along with them, but that doesn't make it law.
  17. I'm sitting out the Nost servers, my toons there fought hard and their adventures are done. When Elysium is released I'll set up my UI, get my addons situated and depending on how difficult it is to quest in beginning zones I may just get my fishing on.
  18. With already plummeting subs I think it would be insane of Blizzard to try to take on the private server/legacy community again. Blizzard themselves significantly boosted awareness of private servers during the whole Nost shut down thing. Shutting down this one would just add napalm to the fire. Even if we get shut down here, we are a reslient bunch, we will find a way to keep playing on somehow, somewhere. I always have my eye on a couple "backup" servers just in case. Also, I believe the original Nostalrius could've kept the servers going if they wanted to. I think they had ulterior motives for closing shop.

All want to play on fresh

I think we have people who are here to be part of the Nostalrius rebirth, and there are people who are here to experience Vanilla WoW from start to finish. A lot of people coming to these servers are first time private server players, so I can see why a fresh server would appeal to them. At the same time a lot of people invested a ton of time into their Nost toons, so it's only natural for them to want to finally be able to reconnect with them. There is no right or wrong here, only preference.
  20. So I rolled horde on the last stress-test here today. And from the second I was in game to the second the test was over I saw a lot of unnecessary hate. It all seemed to be focused one player/streamer in particular. (I know most of you probably know who that player is). I have to admit, I've been vocal on forums about how I'm not particularly a fan of theirs, but today was a real eye-opener for me. Under NO circumstances should a person have to endure such unrelenting negativity focused at them. It made me instantly regret my own behavior on the forums. We all have our issues and obstacles in life, coming to play a game, or making videos or streaming games for an escape should not be one of those obstacles. It's only a game, we shouldn't attack a person for how they choose to play it. Even with thick skin some of the things said can really have an effect on someone, it has to enter the psyche on some level. I felt ashamed as I sat there and watched the chat and I don't know why it took this to reinforce what should I should have acted on all along, and that's positivty and accceptance. (Again this is only a game, why try to intentionally hurt someone's feelings?) To the player I'm talking about, I genuinely apologize for being an попа. Anyways, with that I'll get off my soapbox.

Why do we like vanilla WoW?

I absolutely love the Duskwood storyline. Have you done that one, paying attention to the story? I think a lot of stories in books, movies, games, etc all boil down to a lot of the same basic "moral of the story" but I think a lot of the times it's those morals (wrapped in different packages) that we connect with as human beings, and maybe that's why they are used over and over again. I could be completely wrong of course. I love vanilla because the world feels large in comparison to every expansion that blizzard has released since. I love how you are encouraged to be social for better or worse. I love that you have to work at things in order to achieve them.

    All this hype

Time and life are fleeting from us every moment, it's all about enjoying now. We shouldn't sacrafice our happiness today due to worries about things that may or may not happen down the road. (Especially things we personally can't control).
