Prefering a max spirit- or a mp5-set to regen mana fast at lvl 60?
HolyPriest replied to whatisgoingon's topic in Priest
When you first start gearing your priest, spirit is much, much, much better than mp5. This is because mp5 is rare, spirit is plentiful in healing cloth gear anyway and thanks to these two talents: Spiritual Guidance transforms 5% of your total spirit into +dmg/heal Meditation allows 15% of your Mana regeneration to continue through casting During the levelling process, you should have Spirit Tap maxed out as well. When that procs, it doubles your spirit for 15 seconds while also allowing 50% of Mana to regenerate while casting. So this is all good stuff while you're levelling and working on your gear. It remains valid even into BWL as the 3 pce set bonus of T2 gives you another 15% of Mana regeneration while casting - combined with Meditation that's 30% uninterrupted mana regen from spirit. On the other hand, while in dungeons you can easily get out of 5 sec rule, in raids that might not be possible. During boss fights you might need to heal all the time and eventually your guild will chain-pull trash continuously to speed up the clearing process. At that point, mp5 gear becomes useful because it always works. HOWEVER and just like you were told in the druid forum, this comparison isn't as important as you might think because +heal is the king of all stats for priests as well thanks to downranking. The two healing spells I use 95% of time are Greater Heal rank 1 and Heal rank 1 because I have over 700 +heal from gear. I could even downrank to Lesser Heals but what's the point when you can leave it to the Paladins. You don't have to worry about mana because you're downranking so heavily and using slow casts instead of dumping your mana to Flash Heal trying to pad the meters. The only fight where I use mp5 gear is Nefarion because it's a long one, I might need to use Prayer of Healing in Phase 1 and during Phase 2-3 there are several healers spamming the MT, so the slight reduction in the prowess of my heals is harmless. So focus on getting as much +heal from gear first, with stats and mp5 a nice bonus on top, then build a separate mp5 set for long fights and finally mix'n'match as per need. -
Noticed the druids have put up an thread about this. The AQ patch also brought in a bunch of spell co-efficient fixes. If you don't know, co-efficient is the percentage/amount of +dmg/+heal gear that affects each spell and is usually based on cast duration with some exceptions. So slow spells gained your full +heal while fast spells gained only part of and instants got very little. This is my Greater Heal is better than Flash Heal is better than Renew. Source: https://github.com/elysium-project/server/pull/447 For us, the only change is to Holy Nova. Most priests had probably realized that HN is a bit too powerful. The change is below: Holy Nova (Damage): 0.1429 -> 0.11428 Holy Nova (Heal): 0.3035 -> 0.11428 This means that previously one third of your +heal affected HN, now only one tenth does. So if you relied on Holy Nova during Vael, better dust off Prayer of Healing and use it instead. The damage nerf isn't as bad so DM:E farming shouldn't be much affected. Note that this only affects BONUS damage/healing, not the base amounts. In other news, druids are obviously crying the hardest but there will be some disappointed mages and warlocks as well as AOE spells especially are now less effective.

So what will you do with that 40k gold?

Elysium server is not PvP...
HolyPriest replied to Jdude2021's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
You leap into conclusions like a hysterical teenager. I wasn't claiming that we were retards back then. I was pointing out that the ranking pool of players was much smaller. Because the PvP gear got buffed later in the life of the game, it wasn't something that people grinded for from the outset. Not to mention that not even all raiders bothered to do so because the advantage was so small. Hence why @Jcus memory of how PvP was on his realm 11 years ago is completely meaningless. -

Because there is no comparison. Retail vanilla realms had tiny populations which were also largely concentrated in the timezones that they would play. Like NA realms and EU realms and so on. Then, to make it even more different, only a small portion of the playerbase engaged in PvP ranking. But here, we have tens of thousands of players on both Anathema and Elysium, most of whom know the value of the gear obtainable through ranking, who are spread all over the planet meaning that BGs are active 24/7. The difference is gigantic - the honor caps are massive compared to retail. What THAT means is that many players are willing to do anything to make the grind faster and/or easier. If they allowed multi-queue, wintrading and premade-dodging (which already are an issue) would come back with a vengeance. We'd be back to 5-man "premades" that would dodge each other and only fight pug groups, that they would still stomp to death. Puggers would quit ranking or just be AFK in graveyard even more than they are now. Majority of games would be 3-0 WSG and 5-0 AB fights. The few people who actually want to fight competitive PvP games would be fucked over. The PvP scene would be nothing but a contentless grind. And I know this because that's exactly what happened on Nostalrius and is the reason why they eventually disabled multi-queue and is the reason why Elysium had multi-queue disabled from the start. At least without multi-queue, the only people getting fucked are twinks. Enabling multi-queue for sub-60 brackets could fix that. -

Means War Effort is completed by 19th. Then there is a 5 day timer for all the NPCs and material to arrive in Silithus. If nobody has completed the Scepter chain by that point, then we'll have to wait for that. -

Shows that you didn't play on Nostalrius when they allowed multi-queuing. It's much, much worse. -
Hand of Justice no longer has an internal cooldown on procs

Kronos has fun-server proc rates on all items which is the reason why their raids do so much more damage than raids here or on other vanilla servers. Ironfoe proc rate is something nuts like 15% or so when in reality it should be 5% or even lower. -
If your entire raid needs to flask for MC or BWL... oh dear.

ZF is bugged, namely both the the gong to summon Gahzilla as well as the stairs event. Both were working before the patch, so something in the patch must have borked it.

You don't need Renew in dungeons either. Use a Heal or Greater Heal, then wand until needed to heal again. If you need to use Renew, putting talent points into it is a waste, as the talent only improves the base healing of the spell, which is completely outclassed as soon as the priest gets any +heal gear. Yeah, in a raid one priest with 3/3 imp renew can be useful since you want to squeeze out every possible advantage but that's it. I would never recommend a priest to put any points into it during leveling. And sure, 99.999 is exaggeration but the bosses you claimed where it's useful - well, I think you're exaggerating. BigWigs does have a timer for Shazzrath's counter-spell so you can easily enough time bigger heals around it - we have time to drop 4-5 big heals between each CS. On Golemagg, it's better again to cast Heal or Greater Heal on the melee. Remember that Renew still costs you that 1.5 second GCD. Razorgore is a moot point because one priest will blanket tanks with the imp renew, nobody else uses it. Same on Vael. I prefer using PWS on melee on Vael alternating between it and Prayer of Healing for my own group. Suppression room you don't need it at all and PWS can be better (or at least as useful) during transition phases anyway. Chromaggus same as with Razorgore and Vael - just that one priest uses it, nobody else. The cases where you say "blanket the raid" are misleading. What encounter allows time for priests to waste 5-10 GCDs (depending on raid composition) on just Renew? You'd be usually better either casting Prayer of Healing if the group you're in has taken damage or just individual Heals/Greater Heals. Renew is useless if it doesn't tick - either because the target has been topped up by another healer or because the target took damage and died. And you still have to wait the GCD. I'm not saying that Renew is useless, it does have its uses and it's better to have a HoT and not need it, than to not have it and end up needing it, but recommending priests to use it and especially of wasting multiple GCDs on Renew instead of proper heal spells isn't a good idea in my opinion. -

This is because you've been playing on servers where it hasn't been fixed. The 8/8 set bonus "renew" is indeed a separate hot from actual Renew. It was fixed on Nostalrius and works properly on Elysium. Renew is still crap. 99.999% of times it will be wasted as overheal because Paladins or Shamans (or druids hots) will top up the raid before Renew goes to the end. Maybe that'll change in Naxxramas. But for ZG/MC/BWL it is a waste of talent points and usually a waste of mana. Sure, have one priest have 3/3 Imp Renew and slap it on tanks in boss fights but that's the extent of its usefulness. -
Run Scholomance for Dark Runes. Kill satyrs in Felwood for Demonic Runes. Kill water elementals in EPL for Living Essence (after you don't need it for your Hide of the Wild). Sell your Mooncloth CD if you're a tailor and don't need it yourself. Run Strat Live for orbs. Even when you don't need any gear, consider healing ST/BRD plus all the 60s dungeons. Vendor everything. With a geared 60 healer, the runs go faster. It's not amazing gold but it's money. When solo farming as a raid healer, I PWS myself, open with holy fire, put SWP on mob, cast mind blast, cast smite, wand. Get couple of stacks of water from a mage before you go. It's damn boring, which is why I prefer to just heal dungeons over and over if possible. Remember that quests completed at level 60 reward you with increased gold. Questing breaks the monotony of farming.

In PvP, you need to worry about surviving, not about maximizing your healing output. Anything and everything that helps you survive longer is good.
