So.... which is it?

I poke around on the retail forums still sometimes because it's often good for a chuckle or two. Today I saw someone had posted a hype thread for Nost relaunch. Of course I expected exactly what was in it. People calling us thieves, down voting anyone who remotely seemed like they might be supporting it, claiming how the game is so much better now and that progression is better than regression. You know the drill. The topic was deleted, of course. THE VERY NEXT THREAD I clicked was (a highly up voted) thread about how the game has gone downhill, and several comments talking about how much better it used to be were voted highly also. It cracked me up. It's like exactly the opposite of what Blizz said when they told us we think we do but we don't. Their brainwashed sheep don't think they do, but they do. Rather, they want the good parts of the early game without sacrificing any of their luxuries. Anyway, gave me a chuckle.

haha This one's hilarious because I've done that even rather recently. Not a big deal questing now, but last time I did it was in a BG so I got blasted before I realized why my spells weren't working.

I didn't get to play in Vanilla but did get to get a good chunk of the leveling experience starting shortly after BC launch. Unfortunately they had already started making some changes, but I do remember how much more I enjoyed leveling my first time through. Dying regularly, getting lost regularly, stepping into a new zone and thinking OMG THIS IS AWESOME! Each zone like a new game. The joy of each yellow flash as I leveled up, finally getting my mount at 40 and the epic at 60, which at that time meant stepping straight into Hellfire for me. It was such an amazing journey, even if long and full of struggles. But that's what made each level up so rewarding. Thinking "man I can't wait to hit level 38 so I get this spell!" or "just 6 more levels and I can put a point into this ability!" I miss the little things you had to work for more than the big ones. I'm hyped, and so ready for Saturday. I'll actually have to set my alarm... on a Saturday...

I thanked them with my subscription and by buying their games for years. They took a dump on my appreciation and then used my money to wipe. They'll get thanks again when they stop making garbage. #likesoedgy #lookatmeguysimtough #rawr

You can also find an instant 60 Vanilla server to try out a few classes and see how they feel, then once you decide on that, you can choose which race fits it well, or just go Dwarf because it's Azeroth's master race.

I don't think the root of any animosity is truly for the players on each side so much as how the servers are being handled. Had they just dumped all 3 on us at once and said "have at it" then people would play where they wanted and be happy, or if they weren't happy, move to a different one. With all the build up, the initial uncertainty of release dates, and then hearing the fresh would come a bit later, it's ruffled some feathers. The bottom line is that in probably about a month or so we'll all be playing happily on the server of our choice, and we'll still be a community together. It's much more fun to have the one big happy family attitude instead of the "PvE vs PvP" or "Fresh vs Old" arguments. People like what they like, but one thing is shared among us all. We all love this game, and that's something that can keep the community tight.

This pretty much. In Wrath when they opened faction changes, I played on 2 servers. Both were pretty even but slightly favored one side. Literally a week later I was getting camped in the GY on both servers in WG and it pretty much killed WG entirely on some servers. It carried over into Cata also. I remember if I queued for Tol Barad on Horde I would never win, but if I queued on Alliance I would never GET IN so I still couldn't win.

Yeah this is best. That way we can see what's needed. Sure, people may want to be praised for their donations, but it also opens up griefing of players who don't. "You're not even on the donation board your opinion doesn't matter" type of attitude. I don't think that belongs here.
