  1. Almost every merger that I've seen over the years, occurred when one or both realms had lost a huge chunk of their original population levels, so whether the merger was ineffective by the very nature of it or because of the circumstances of those communities, is hard to judge. I've never seen a merger for economic reasons, so I can't really tell if its likely to suceed or not.

    War Effort Conerns

I think people are overreacting on both sides of this dilemma. The staff was correct to "change" the requirements. The idea of the whole event is to have both horde and alliance working together to complete the war effor. However, given that everyone playing the game knew what was required in advance, hardcore guilds simply began stockpiling the mats. If it had gone this way, the war effort would have probably lasted only a couple of days, until the guilds finished the scepter chain. But guilds are correct that the requirements are too high, and would essentially bankrupt them. Take into consideration that most of the people farming this mats are the hardcore guilds alone. While you can count some random player doing his contribution from time to time, its mostly the top-end guilds. Then there is the opportunistic player that will be looking to make a profit, which made the prices of a lot of this materials skyrocket. While I do believe that the whole attitude of leaving the server is childish, only a few days after the event began, I think their complain is substantial. A x2 or x3 would have been more reasonable.
  3. Whether we think it is a good or bad idea, and are in favour of against it, matters little in the long run. Eventually the population of every realm will dwindle, and merges will be inevitable. That is just the fate of every game. Personally I think ZK realm was simply a rushed response to deal with the extensive queu in Elysium, but once the hype went away (as it would inevitably happen), the realm would be empty. To be completly fair, given that both realms are still kind of new, the hype of leveling might still be a thing, but eventually players will grow bored, raiders will only log for raid, etc. Personally, I think Elysium and ZK should merge, given that both realms are pretty much on the same stage.
  4. And I think thats fantastic. But getting decked as a "freshy" in the old pvp isn't hard at all either. Some people I know went from greens to epics in the first week. This is because most guilds began to recruit new players, needing to fill raid spots. For those that wish to raid AQ, and are perhaps tired of running MC/ONY, the old pvp is a good valid option, given that in practice, the argument that people are decked falls apart, because most loot goes to the new players. But I think the fresh pvp is great, I've personally tried playing there, although I haven't been able because of the huge queue. However, I do find it absurd to criticize the old nost pvp if one isn't playing there at all.
  5. People are decked in epics and benedictions because people know how to play, what to farm, etc. Everyone that is not in epics, is running around in pre-raid BiS blue gear, which was certainly not the case for early vanilla. Back in the day people were geared with whatever they could find. They didn't specifically hunt for certain items.
  6. While I would generally agree with this 2 statements, the game will never be a *new* experienced (unless of course you never played a vanilla realm before). Most people here have done MC an ONY countless of times, either in retail vanilla or different private servers. Granted, doing MC in blue gear is clearly a different experience. However, the same can be said about running AQ or Nax, something which much less people have ever experienced. I personally feel everyone should be able to play what they prefer, but discarding the old nost realm based on lousy assumptions that everyone is "decked out" and thus ahead of you, is quite wrong.
  7. The biggest reason why players don't want to roll in old nost, is because they feel they will be undergeared in comparison to most players. While this is a substantial reason, a lot of people fail to notice that most guilds are currently taking any player regardless of gear to MC/ONY/BWL. This means that if you join a raid, 75% of the people in it will be already geared in T1/T2 equivalent gear and are only there to either support their guild, or get that one specific item they need. In the few MC runs I've been, half of the items end up being disenchanted, and most undergeared people that go into the raid, come out of it with 3 or 4 epic items. Gearing is honestly really easy.
  8. Not sure how to report this, because I have no idea how the bug is achieved (or if it is legal)- but I have noticed lately a lot of people (when engaged in combat) perform an instant log-out to avoid getting killed. Happened against 3 people today, and a few more during the weekend. I'm pretty sure its an exploit of some sort, given that when forcing the client to disconnect (by alt+f4) the character should remain in place for around 20 seconds, so I can only suspect other methods to instantly logging out. To explain it clearly: while in combat against someone in world pvp, with them performing actions (like attacking or casting), when their HP gets low enough (and are seemingly about to loose the fight), they can instantly log out to void getting killed. This exploit is getting seemingly popular. Aside from the complications for world pvp, this can potentially result in an exploit to avoid death to mobs (avoiding repair bills and saving tons of gold in the process).

    Instant log-out exploit

Druid. Yeah he dissapeared while being rooted and with faerie fire on. I'll check the spawn location again tomorrow. But combat log showed nothing, no "DEBUFF fades from target", "PLAYER begins casting SPELL" or "PLAYER gains BUFF", etc. But he hasn't been the only person I saw doing this. Which is the reason I'm making the post, instead of a report (cause I have no evidence): if someone else has seen this happening.

    Instant log-out exploit

That could very well be the case, but the way it should work is that your character stays in-place for around 20 secs before disconnecting it (which sort of provides a window of opportunity leaving the character vulnerable to attacks without possibility of fighting back).

    Instant log-out exploit

Today it happened 2 times against the same player: he was at a farming spot, I attacked him (to get control of the spawn location), he suddenly dissapears. Like an hour later he re-appears, I engage him again, and when I'm about to deal the killing blow, he dissapeared while running away. Combat log showed nothing, because the player simply vanished from thin air, so its not like he gains/looses a buff or debuff, deals or recieves damage, or anything that would show up in the combat log. The only real way to catch them is by filming it. I'm mostly making the post to see if anyone else has encountered this, because it has happened to me against at least 5 people, in the last couple of days. So I can only presume that it is something that is becoming popular.
  12. Lets face it, nothing can be done about gold farmers. If you nerf their farming spots, they will try to hack accounts or find new places to exploit. If you ban them, they will create new accounts. If you ban the VPN (like kronos did), they will DDOS the server for months making it impossible for everyone to play. No game that has a gold farmer community can succesfully deal with them. And most likely, we won't either. The reason gold farmers exist is because there are people that provide a market for them. As simple as that. Given all the recent troubles the server is suffering because of gold farmers, shouldn't it be better we actually focus on the root of the problem? As usual, a few rotten apples create a problem for the servers, and by this I mean those that buy gold, and make gold farmers focus on Nostalrius. I do have a few suggestions on how to deal with, but they are not blizzlike at all. However it would be nice if as a mature community, we can discuss these things and make proposals to the admins on how to deal with this problem.
  13. While I don't disagree with this method, this can hurt the server deeply and should only be considered as a last possible solution. We should also consider that there are a lot of chinese players that do not partake in gold farming and will be affected by this. I personally favour a more restrictive approach targeting those that buy gold, instead of the gold farmer themselves.
  14. Trust me most of this problems affect geared lvl 60 players too. - 1) fresh server will also be overcrowded, because everyone wil be in the same zones. - 2) This point I agree with the fact that there is a power level gap, it is expected, however joining raids isn't hard: most guilds are currently recruiting fresh 60's to fill up raid cores, not caring if they are geared or not; most guilds or pugs only require you to have some pre-raid bis items so you are not completly useless, but I've seen people walking into MC/ZG in greens and coming out in epics. - 3) The economy is bad for everyone, even for lvl 60's. - 4) Level 60's get ganked by no life pvpers, that usually attack you in small groups of 3 or 4 people, mainly in blackrock mountain, everlook, silithus, EPL, etc. Thats just what pvpers do. All this factors are also going to be a problem in the fresh server. The economy might be cheaper for leveling gear, but will be more expensive for resources, wil be hugely expensive for rare items and so on. Its not a better economy, just a different one. And while the power gap won't be huge there will be one in the early weeks. People that level faster will have an edge, and guilds that raid will get gear faster (there won't be pugs until people can get fully epics and carry others). PvPers will gank people regardless of level. Don't get me wrong, I do think the fresh server is a nice option, but I don't think we should promote mistaken ideas of what it will be. The fresh server merely gives you the possibility of being among the first people to complete something. It will still be incredibly competitive, hard, grindy, and exasperating at times.

    More gold spammer antics

In Kronos they tried banning them, and they ended up causing a massive DDOS attack. It is easier to accept them as a lesser evil. I agree the real focus of punishment should be gold buyers.
  16. Yo ahora estoy con mi antiguo pj en el nost pvp, el fresh el problema es que sale en 1 mes. Cuantos hay del lado ally en el nost pvp?
  17. The agi+hit ring and the mail chest are considered BiS for hunters (I understand the arena chest is better, but much rare loot). I believe the reason was that some hunter's exploited the encounter, but not sure why. But don't get me wrong, I'm not exactly in favour of removing tribute run (except when they exploit the boss add to reset), to me anything that is within the game mechanics should be allowed, that is one of the perks of having the class in the first place.
  18. Tribute run is a method for Hunters to get pre-bis raid gear by solo playing, so the merits of nerfing that can be seen, although many classes have BiS items that can easily be aquired by solo farming. And while it can be a great source of gold, the preffered method is Mauradon farming which is fast and can net a good amount of gold per hour. Making instance farming harder only creates more competition for open world resources, which are also heavily camped by gold farmers. Most areas that spawn dreamfoil have gold farmers running around all day farming for these, given that is their only job. Normal players that wish to farm some gold once in a while, hell, even those leveling profesions have a harder time finding these resources due to the gold farmers. So those few instances that can provide some way are a great resource for normal players to get some of those items. Controlling the economy of the game in this way only hurts the normal player. What ruins the economy is the excesive amount of gold farmers which are players dedicated to camp resource spots 24hrs a day for a profit, which unfortunatly can't be dealt without consequence (in Kronos, banning them only resulted in a massive DDOS).
  19. You can walk into any mid level instance using prowl to avoid all the packs, and simply kill the bosses. Some instances can net a decent amount of gold per hour. A lot of class/profession combination has a niche to benefit. Like mages AoE grinding certain elite zones for cloth, hunters farming mauradon, etc. But then there are other classes that don't have a class mechanic that allows them to properly grind certain spots, like shamans. While I don't disagree with the change, it does make it harder for some classes.
  20. There are 2 problems with making this change now: - Established lvl 60's that already have gear to properly farm other places and make gold, or that already have large sums of gold and an epic mount are not really affected by this change, but in return the newly fresh 60 is at disadvantage having it harder to make gold. While I don't disagree with the change, and I think it would be great for the fresh server, with the implication that every player will have to accomodate from this, in an older server this type of changes usually affect those that are new. - You remove certain classes from their income. DME is good for certain classes and thus they benefit from farming gold in the zone. Other classes like those that can avoid packs through stealth or dropping combat (rogues, hunters, druids) have other methods of gaining income, farm other instances.. Thus it is also a bit unfair to certain classes. Aside from those thing, I think that any thing that makes the game harder is good, problem is that it does not affect everyone.

    Walkign on water

Weird bug, since the last restart been able to walk on water. Anyone got this bug?
  22. I personally don't think that launching the old nost pvp realm was a bad thing in itself, but it does create problems when you try to benefit a part of the population over the other communities, ending up with a messy situation. Here the fresh pvp realm was delayed in order to benefit the old nost pvp population. That wasn't really a good thing to do. And now the problems the old nost pvp realm is having (like missplaced/missing items) are directly making an impact on the pve realm community, which is suffering from an overwhelming amount of lvl 1 players just running around starting zones.
  23. That isn't the case, the large majority of players are looking foward for the fresh server. And even if you were to upset the other less than half of old nost players, a fresh server launch would have still been a cleaner more sensitive choice. I understand that the staff chose to provide to the old nost pvp community, which is a reasonable thing, but it comes at the expense of making the launch a little bit messy. Currently, the 3 communities: - The PVE server community can't play because the realm is filled with lvl 1 characters that are not planning to play there and are just passing the time, while creating a 13k queue for those that truly wished to roll in the pve realm. - The folks from the Fresh pvp community are waiting for the fresh, and can't currently play, while they too occupy space in the pve realm and eventually in the old pvp realm. - The old nost pvp is down due to transfer related bugs, thus they can't play either, and are currently occupying space in the pve realm. So in order to benefit 1 community, all 3 are suffering cause of it.
  24. The nost pvp server is down because of bugs related to missing/missplaced gear, bugs related to the transfer from the old db charcters. While the fresh server might launch with bugs or lag, it will probably be "playable". I said it before, it would have been better to just release 3 fresh realms (2 pvp and 1 pve), start over. We would all be playing by now, and the launch would probably have occured much sooner. Unfortunatly we have to endure a longer wait time because of the entitled nost pvp players that need to get their old chars back.
  25. I really feel for the PVE players, because now they have a 11k queue, composed of people that don't plan to play there, and are just passing the time.
