    PvP Scene Community Feedback

Elysium players complaining about the pvp system need to realize this is how it is at the beginning of these servers. At the start, there’s a big influx of people who want to hit Rank 13/14. I guess you could say this apart of that “fresh” start experience you all (thought you?) wanted. Over time as more people finish ranking the premades that only seek to grind honor for gear become less and less common (this is probably 95% of premades). Once someone hits rank 14 they aren’t going to continue grinding BGs 16 hours a day in a premade, most will almost completely stop doing BGs for quite some time because the grind to rank 14 is exhausting. Also upgrading PVP gear is a bad idea in my opinion. I don’t play on Elysium so it makes no difference to me if they do or don’t but I think it’ll increase the number of gear farming premades and influences the PVE scene. Do you really want more dodgemades farming PVP gear that’s BIS for PVE?

    Dragonskin Cowl - Elysium

https://forum.elysium-project.org/topic/46976-items-not-in-game-yet-on-anathema/ Seems the Cowl doesn't get added until 1.10.
  3. People act like going to Anathema is a death sentence to their character, it's so disrespectful.

The premade issue fixes itself as more content gets released. On Anathema Premades aren’t an issue. Revaping the entire PVP system just to fix the issue during the MC/BWL stage of the game seems like it would do more harm than good. It’s a bit ironic because I remember one of the main reasons players chose to play on Elysium vs Anathema was because they didn’t want to get destroyed in BGs. Well on Elysium you’re going to face far more premades than you would on Anathema since there’s less of an incentive to go for rank 14. The difference between rank 14 gear and what you can get from raiding isn’t that big when BWL has been out for 9+ months and AQ40 just got released. Once Naxx comes out I doubt many people will be grinding to rank 13/14. I know it sucks because the same issue occurred during the early nost days but over time as more people reached their ranks and more content got released it became less common to face premades.

You realize I was agreeing with you. Unless you believe people would actually prefer to play on a server with 50g respec cap vs 20g respec cap.

Hypothetically let’s say Elysium gets shut down and two new servers open with the exact same scripts Elysium used, except one server has a 20g respec cap and the other has the blzzlike 50g respec cap. Which do you think will be more popular? Hopefully this should answer the question as to whether the respec cost reduction will make people quit or deter players from rolling here.

You realize having 50g respec that people rarely use doesn't act as more of a gold sink than having a 25g respec that is used way more frequently.

+1 The current respec cap forces 95% of the players base to choose between PVE and PVP. If this is intended then don't be surprised when the PVP scene is lacking. People who primarly play here to raid content aren't going to dish out 100g weekly/biweekly to PVP. Kronos costs were probably too low (5g?). Maybe make it 20-25g cap. There should still be a cost so that it doesn't feel "free" to respec, but the cost should be low enough so that respec'ing at the gold cap is still a thing most people can viably do.

Looking for a Mage BIS List up to AQ40

BIS is probably this: Head: Mish’unare Neck: Amulet of Vek'nilash Shoulders: Rank 10 Shoulders Chest: Enigma Robes Bracers: Rockfury Gloves: Dark Storm Gauntlets Belt: Eyestalk Waist Cord Pants: Leggings of the Black Blizzard Boots: Rank 7 Boots Ring: Ring of the Fallen God / Ritssyn’s Ring of Chaos Trinket: MQG / Neltharion’s Tear Weapon: Sharpend Silithid Femur + Royal Scepter of Vek’lor Wand: Green +21 fire damage wand
  10. Yeah rank 12 fireball adds like 40 more damage from rank 11 fireball it's not going to make a big difference. Let's face it players are better at min-maxing today than they were 11 years ago. This mage is wearing full T2 for cthun and spec'd frost (Don't even know what spec that is, he has POM AND IB). Check the debuffs on the boss. Serpent strings, immolation and mortal strikes yet this guild could farm cthun every week 11 years ago. Just because a lot of guilds 11 years ago couldn't kill cthun doesn't mean it was hard, this video is evidence of that. If you got some video of some min-max guild struggling in AQ post it, otherwise you could just be making all this up.

Go ahead and play an Arcane Missiles spec. I'm interested in seeing how you do in raid.

    Herb Respawn Changes

Oh no! noobs are going to flask for BWL/MC the server is ruined!!! Anyway I'm sure the staff is probably just going to wait and see how this affects the herb economy. There's probably some sort of equilibrium point that they are aiming to hit with the herb market. If the prices tank too low then they will reduce the spawn rates, then if they go too high they will adjust it accordingly. Eventually it should reach a healthy balance, I'd say like 70-90g per lotus / 20-30g per dreamfoil/gromsblood/plaguebloom stack would be reasonable prices for the server IMO.

    Inflation

I'm sorry I just don't see how the game caters to casuals if the black lotus price were to drop from 150g to 70g due to the increase in spawn rate. Or if the dreamfoil/plaugebloom/gromsblood drops from 50g a stack to 30g a stack. I guess if this happens all the casuals will be getting the "hardcore" experience. It's funny because I probably fit on the hardcore side of the spectrum (100+ black lotus banked). Yet I come on these forums and there's people upset because some causal gamer might actually use consumes for raids. I really don't care if some "casual" guild can all the sudden flask their entire raid (they probably still can't because let's face it 70g per lotus is still not affordable to most casuals). Whatever, seems no matter what the staff does people will find ways to complain about it.

What are you trying to argue? Do you think flasks/world buffs should be removed from the game since they are not needed or do you just want the elite "hardcore" gamers to have access to these consumes and the "casuals" to be gated from them? I'm really confused. If you personally want the game to be harder than by all means you can just not use consumes for you and your guild, hell you can even raid in greens to make it even harder. I don't see how it makes a difference what other guilds do or if the herb prices go down if you truly believe they are not needed and therefore refuse to use them. Now if you just want to gate these consumes then it isn't really blizzlike. Like i said earlier the prices of herbs/consumes was much lower on retail vanilla than on anathema even if you consider inflation. 15-20g for a black lotus during Naxx progression was super affordable especially considering you could just grind raw gold (ie DM-E/Mara/etc). I remember I had to flask for KT so I bought a flask of titans from the AH for like 50g, it wasn't so big investment to be able to afford these flasks. Honestly I didn't make the strats, I was only like 12 years old back during retail vanilla. I'm guessing we used full buffs on Loatheb to avoid wiping because our damage may have not been high enough. We definitely didn't have an ideal raid comp but most vanilla guilds didn't. It was so long ago, maybe we could have killed it just fine without all the consumes/buffs but why risk it? At that point in the game you just go all out because there's no use saving the world buffs/consumes since it's literally the last raid content left before TBC comes out so we just wanted to give it out all and try to finish it.

WoWprogress wasn't even needed since you could just screenshot your kill and that's what pretty much everyone did on the bnet forums. How are guilds going to prove clear speed times though? They realistically couldn't and that's why no one really went try hard on farmed content. Like I said if realmplayers existed 12 years ago all the "hardcore" guilds would be doing exactly what a lot of guilds on Elysium/Anathema do which is go full try hard to get the fastest clear speed. You can't honestly tell me that something like realmplayers wouldn't have made a difference in how "competitive" raiders approached the game back then. Probably if it existed flask prices would have been a lot more expensive on retail vanilla but since there was no realmplayers people didn't bother to full consume on farm status content. The guild I was in only used full consumes/world buffs on Loatheb and KT because we didn't care about trying to minmax everything else since it didn't really matter. The old blizzlike experience where players didn't care about full consuming is gone forever.

Main reason people didn't flask / speedrun 10 years ago was there were no raid stats. If raid stats existed like they do on these private servers all the top guilds would be going full try hard. Black lotus wasn't even expensive either, I remember on my server they were like 20g, flasks were like 50g. I know this server has more inflation than my retail vanilla server but still 20g for a lotus and 50g for a flask was way more affordable than the current prices on anathema.

    Herb spawn rate

Yeah respawn times are really low. If left unchanged it will only have a negative affect on the server. Eventually players/guilds will just quit, but I think the staff will address this possibly after AQ is released. Right now is not the time though since their focus is on finishing AQ. From their perspective It does them no good to have people quitting the server.

    Elemental Shaman PVE

Damn ret pallies AND ele shamans in the same raid in vanilla.
  19. I know they will never change it but something like a 30g cap seems like it wouldn't really be bad. It's enough gold to where you wouldn't just wastefully respec all the time but not high enough to deter you from ever respecing. Right now i'm at 50g respec so I basically just raid log since there's really nothing fun to do after raids are cleared for the week. If it was 30g i'd probably repsec and do some BGs during the weekend and be more active in general. I'm sure a lot of people can relate to this. I doubt it ever happens because it isn't blizzlike and the backlash would do more harm than good but when I think about this sort of change I really don't see how it is an awful idea.
  20. Don't think they get added until 1.10 or something.

    "Full" arcane raiding.

Might as well not wear any gear either since that makes the game "harder". I wonder if there would be ANY raiding guild that really wants to gimp themselves like this.
  22. quasexort

    "Full" arcane raiding.

Well where do you draw the line with these sub optimal specs? Is it ok if someone wants to be a melee mage who just auto attacks the boss with a staff while spamming arcane explosion? According to you if they enjoy that spec and can sheep/decurse/interrupt then you are ok with that.

    Server merges

I think they mentioned in the QA session that they'd really only consider merging if the population dropped to around 500 peak times. The way I see is every server has something unique to draw in players. Anathema is the most progressed server and also has many of the same guilds from Nost. Elysium is a fresh server with high population (which some people enjoy and others don't). Zeth'Kur is a fresh server with a more blizz-like population. Darrowshire is the only PVE server. If you merge Zeth'Kur then you limit the choices that the player base has. Not everyone wants to play on Elysium which peaks at 10k population. I'm sure a lot of people who decided to play on Zeth'Kur did so because they prefer to play on a server that doesn't feel over crowded. Same can be said if you merge Darrowshire with a PVP realm. Most people on Darrowshire chose to play there because they prefer to play on a PVE realm. If you merge these realms then you limit the options that players have. Now I understand that you are arguing that Zeth'Kur and Darrowshire are dying. As I'm typing this post Zeth'Kur has 3156 players online, Darrowshire has 3780, Elysium has 9461, and Anathema has 6094. None of these servers are even close to dying. I'd say if you are unhappy with the Zeth'Kur population then you should cut your losses and reroll. Don't expect the staff to just merge the servers for YOU when there are a lot of players who prefer to play on Zeth'Kur than Elysium because like I said not everyone enjoys playing on a 10k population server.

    Clearcasting and Arcane Missiles

Well must be using different scripts on Darrowshire if what you say is true. I just went to test it because maybe it was changed to the way you describe it, so I did about 20 AM casts and it only proc'd twice and the two procs both occurred on the first missile. It's also the same with blizzard, only the first blizzard tick can proc CC. By the way I play on Anathema so maybe it's different on Darrowshire/Elysium/Zeth'Kur.
