If I understand corretly Gnomelons is a paladin? If so don't they get free mounts?

At lvl 33 either go the the shimmering flats in 1k needles, Desolace (despite the name has some nice quests) or StranglethornVietnam. You may indeed check out the database linked by @gotmilk0112 to check if any quests offers a nice reward for mages. Hillsbrad has some nice story quest line for undead, The Battle for Hillsbrad. But you'll be a bit high level with 33.

I believe you can make it up to rank 3, however I am not sure.

This does not make sense, if you were killing other players, you weren't questing. And of course they ganged up to you, what would you expect.

Some happens with the alliance I was on low health doing my Shaman quest in ashenvale today (rooted by those nasty tree elementals), and yes got attacked by a rogue and instantly killed. Yet a cowardice action, it's part of the game. Yesterday I Stonetalon, I spotted a alliance hunter while questing which did not engage untill he got his friend there 5 minutes later. Everyone does it hord/alliance alike, if you can't handle there is the PvE server for you.

It's highly unlikely they will. If they offer you your character back, they should offer anyone who missed the transfer period this manual creation. Imagine the amount of work they have to put in to confirm characters existed and then create it with all items, skills and such.

+1 The system admin took a day off of his REAL job to get the servers back. Patience and discipline are a skill lacking in some of the community. This project excists out of passion for Vanilla World of Warcraft and is offered for free. Negativety generally doesnot help anyone, but I guess it's just too easy for some to act like a dick online.
