They are similar, but Far Sight has a casting time. I don't think they are meant to be exact same.

Shaman Far Sight is different and is chainable without any macro.

I'd guess since the input is "natural" and not simulated, it should be fine to use a mouse wheel.

I thought it should be okay too, but I can live without it, even though I like to switch between my two accounts frequently. It's not. Being able to quickly target someone you see tracked on a mini-map is very useful. Luckily I've come across an addon that allows to do that (thanks to фткyн).

A good tanky pet like a boar also helps a great deal to keep trash mobs away from healers if the main tank is CC'ed.
