I could make a simple script allowing to check ingame if some player is in this list. You would have to download the script though and type the full name of who you want to check. Do you guys think it would be of any use? Should I bother doing it?

I believe its because of dynamic respawn timer, if a creature is respawned there can no longer be its corpse on the groung. Could be wrong though

Dont count it like decimal numbers, 1.12 is the latest vanilla client which is exactly what you need to play here. Server being 1.5 only means you dont have raids/items etc of the later versions.

I guess the problem isn't as much in possibility of DDOS, it's more that banning whole country could be both unfair and ineffective as far as the goldselling goes. There could be plenty of normal decent Chinese players same as good chunk of non-Chinese goldsellers.
