Is it realistic to go Disc/Holy for DPS?

But... why? They're clearly wrong. If they want to go build a guild that has smite priests, let them go have an empty guild. Live and let die.

Is it realistic to go Disc/Holy for DPS?

Why is this the only active thread on this board? There's like 30,000 players on this project, surely someone has questions about healing or gearing or anything other than this topic.

    Anathema/Benediction

Superomeagaop is correct, you can only have one enchant. If you have evidence that you were able to have one enchant for Benediction and another enchant for Anathema, I suggest you post it to the bugtracker.

    Should I drop tailoring?

As a mage, you need to keep tailoring for the 2% crit set bonus on Bloodvine, which requires you to be 300 tailoring. However, it is not 100% required. There are other ways to gear yourself, but they are all worse than full bloodvine with the set bonus, or require very hard to get gear. Here's an example of a mage who can get hit capped without Bloodvine: https://legacy-logs.com/Vanilla/Armory/Anathema/Mithrander/0 As you can see, he's got Flarecore Legs, Bracers of Arcane Accuracy, Cloak of Consumption, Neltharion's Tear, Ringo's Blizzard Boots. When you start raiding you won't have access to any of that.

    [POLL] Need vs Greed

You need on gear that you will use on your character. This must be an upgrade. If you need it, you need it. You can only need on gear for your main spec in that group. If you are speced shadow or feral, you cannot need on healing gear, for example. A ret paladin cannot need on briarwood Reed for his holy set. If you join the group as DPS, you can only need on dps gear. You can need on off spec gear if you clear it with the group first. "Do any healers need that or can I need on it for my healing set." You need on profession recipes that you don't already have. Everyone rolls need on Traveler's Backpack no matter what. World drop epics and very rare items like Ace of Beasts, everyone in the group rolls need. This is because even if you legitimately need the item, the temptation is extremely high to not use it and just sell it. You may decide that the Darkmoon card is not worth giving up 600g or whatever the case may be. All of these rules can be modified through discussing it in advance with the others in your group. "I am joining as DPS but I want to roll on healing gear is that OK." For all other drops, roll greed.

Holy Priest BiS Naxx / end of vanilla?

It has 9mp5 which is a metric fuckton. In AQ40 some of the fights get considerably longer, making mp5 a more important stat than pure healing or int. With a few exceptions for mage and warlock tier gear, the rest of the gear does not get a stat update.

Holy Priest BiS Naxx / end of vanilla?

Here's the BIS list from the Nost forums https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1l2o5WhYf18AsprwRoLYvuaSP96Y2xxJE743xXyenfHk/edit#gid=1585012469 On the 4th tab at the bottom, he lists the stat weights. You can use those to do some math. The overall usefulness of best in slot lists is reduced once you're in AQ40 since you should be switching your gear up depending on which fight you're doing. Some are very long, others not so much, so one set of gear for all fights isn't a good idea. You'll also want to consider picking up some gear from BWL that is lower down on lists like the above because in AQ40 they'll become much more powerful. Ring of Blackrock is a perfect example of this. Some gear I'm looking forward to in AQ40: Blessed Qiraji Augur Staff Sartura's Might (sidegrade over Lei) Robes of the Guardian Saint (more of a sidegrade over Truefaith) Gloves of the Messiah Ring of the Martyr Bracelets of Royal Redemption Scarab Brooch Don Rigoberto's Lost Hat Ternary Mantle Ring of the Devoured Cloak of Clarity Grasp of the Old God Amulet of the Fallen God Scepter of the False Prophet You'll also want to check out the neck from Ossirian and the Mace from the AQ20 set. Gavel of Infinite Wisdom + Lei of the Lifegiver will replace your Benediction or Lok'amir until the Augur Staff or C'Thun mace. If you're the designated Tier 2 8/8 guy for your guild, the set bonus remains quite powerful, meaning you're not going to be breaking up the set for now, depending on the fight, and you can focus on rings, trinkets, and weapons for upgrades. Some gear currently available that remains very good through AQ and even into Naxx: Rejuv Gem Empowered Leggings Darkmoon Card: Blue Dragon Pure Elementium Band Boots of Pure Thought Wavefront Necklace Jindo's Evil Eye

NPCs you can Mind Control for Raid Buffs

On old Nost you were able to mind control the Blackwing Taskmasters in the suppression rooms of BWL. They had an ability that healed all 40 players in the raid to full health. On Elysium they are immune to MC. Anyone know if that's a bug? A wipe or two has been saved in the past by MCing these guys.

You guys wiped our buffs before MC last night. Not cool. Retaliation is coming.

    Fresh Server Leveling Talents

Sure, you can consider stam or int as secondary stats, but stam and int really don't matter while leveling. You should take little damage because you're hiding behind your shield, and if you have a ton spirit, you will regen tons of mana between kills, to the point that you might not have to drink at all between pulls. When I hit 60, I had about 250 spirit, only 10 less spirit than I do now in my nearly full BIS healing setup. It was awesome. But you'll find that almost all gear with good amounts of spirit on it will be paired with stam and/or int, so it won't be an issue.

    Fresh Server Leveling Talents

Put your first 5 points in spirit tap. Then put your next 5 points in wand spec. Then put your next 6 points in shadow to get mind flay Then all of your next points into the discipline tree until level 40. The really good shadow stuff is too far down the tree to get, and there's some very useful stuff in the upper discipline tree. Your spec might look something like this at level 39. When you ding 40, respec 31 points into shadow for shadowform, then spend the rest of your talents in disc as you level, starting with wand spec again. This is the most important part - ignore every single stat except spirit. Spirit is what you want. You want all of the spirit you can get in every slot. Every new piece of gear you get, if it has less spirit than the one you're already wearing, don't wear it. The only exception to this is the Dreamweave set you can make at 40. Otherwise, only spirit matters.
