    Extremely high ping?

    Thank you Kalmar. :)
  2. Anyone else experiencing very high ping right now? I'm at 6000+. Just wanted to see if it was just a problem on my end or not.
  3. Just level to 5. It is not hard. Time spent on a PC game is not so valuable you can't waste a half-hour of it, even with overcrowded starting zones. The requirement doesn't STOP gold sellers. It discourages them. Or at least makes it more difficult for them to be annoying.
  4. So even with the new Stratholme server up and running, I see my characters, but all my attempts to rename/restore them fail no matter what new names I choose. And I still can't update my password...
  5. Got it, thank you! I'll watch for the new server and see what comes over. :)
  6. Hello, I had an account previously on Elysium. I can provide the username if needed, but would rather not post any account details publicly if possible. Anyway, I can login to the game, but none of the characters I had previously are there. I was able to create a new one and play that at least, but then I went onto the Elysium website to change my account password and got an error message saying invalid username/password. I'm using the same credentials I logged into the game with. I was also unable to use the Character Restoration function for the same reason (username/password invalid). Is this something I can get help with? Or do I need to start over? Thank you in advance.

    TBC

I believe starting a completely new server to implement an expansion could not be considered an emulated experience of "what it was like". But I also sympathize with people who might still want to experience a Vanilla server (especially newcomers). Dividing it into two isolated blizzlike experiences is the fair way. Take the Vanilla server (or servers) down for maintenance, create a new server with the original's database copied over, apply the TBC expansion to it, and stage that up as a new TBC server. All existing Vanilla data remains there for Vanilla players to enjoy, while players who are looking forward (literally) to TBC now can pick up where they left off and enjoy the expansion. This is how it was on retail, was it not? Players didn't have an "opt-out" choice there. Their existing characters were thrust out there to deal with the Burning Legion. But by the same token, players who do enjoy the Vanilla content would then be the ones left behind if there were suddenly no Vanilla server to choose. They would pack up and head over to another community that still offers Vanilla content, bringing with them bad feelings about Elysium and ultimately hurting this project here. TL;DR: Vanilla can't be left behind, but I would love to see TBC as well. Keep it blizzlike - take the server, make a copy of it, upgrade it to TBC, and stage them both up separately. Everyone's happy (except maybe Elysium who now doubles their support efforts lol. Increase those donations people! They need you!)
  8. Every time you guys take a realm down for maintenance, chats become overrun with people asking how long it will take, whether Elysium's being taken down for good, lots of trolls, etc. Totally understanding nothing can be done about what people say, but as for the first one there (people asking how long it will take), please begin answering that question in the system-message broadcast. Whether it's an actual estimate of how much downtime to expect, or simply stating that it will take as long as it takes and you won't estimate it - either would be good because people who ask that particular question are generally sincere. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about the need for the maintenance itself. In fact, I'm extremely happy to see things are being taken care of. I'm a systems administrator myself, I get it. My only suggestion here is to address that particular detail. Thank you, and you Elysium folks rock.
  9. I'm constantly getting stuck in combat. I was in Redridge an hour or so ago, fought some of the murlocs off to the side of the bridge there, and then it seemed like every time I went to Lakeshire I got stuck in combat even if I didn't attack anything. The only things that got me out of combat were using my hearthstone (which took me to the Lakeshire inn, so I'm surprised it reset the combat for me, but even so I can't do it more than once an hour) and walking to another zone, like Elwynn Forest or Duskwood (which is an absolute PITA). I thought I fixed it for myself by walking to Elwynn and exiting my client. It seemed at least that I could walk in Lakeshire without getting combat bugged. Now I'm in Westfall, aggroed three Defias Pillager in Moonbrook so I ran away from them to reset them. Now I'm stuck in combat again. It's extremely annoying because I have no idea what causes it, I can't logout or exit the game because of it other than Alt-F4ing, can't use the taxi, can't eat or drink... And I know combat bugging happens, I've dealt with it before, but this is the first time (and the first character here) I've had this happen so often, seemingly every time I engage in combat with something.
  10. Follow up about this because it happened again. Game got stuck again, looks like network disconnection again because I can move/run around but cannot interact with anything or cast spells. Even had to Alt-F4 to get the game to exit, because the Exit Game menu didn't respond either. The website (https://elysium-project.org) was offline, showing that "Retry for a live version" functionality that the Always Online cloud service provides. Did a traceroute on logon.elysium-project.org. Here's what I found. 3:31am (US Central) Tracing route to logon.elysium-project.org [164.132.233.125] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 11 ms 9 ms 8 ms 192.168.1.1 2 * * * Request timed out. 3 20 ms 18 ms 19 ms 173-219-224-252.suddenlink.net [173.219.224.252] 4 46 ms 49 ms 49 ms 173-219-221-133.suddenlink.net [173.219.221.133] 5 45 ms 49 ms 49 ms 173-219-224-86.suddenlink.net [173.219.224.86] 6 70 ms 78 ms 77 ms be100-155.nwk-5-a9.nj.us [198.27.73.29] 7 254 ms 259 ms 255 ms be10-1018.bhs-g2-a9.qc.ca [192.99.146.101] 8 * * 640 ms vac3-0b-a9.fr.eu [192.99.146.123] 9 * * * Request timed out. 10 * * * Request timed out. 11 * * * Request timed out. 12 * * * Request timed out. 13 * * * Request timed out. 14 * * * Request timed out. 15 * * * Request timed out. 16 * * * Request timed out. 17 * * * Request timed out. 18 * * * Request timed out. 19 * * * Request timed out. 20 * * * Request timed out. 21 * * * Request timed out. 22 * * * Request timed out. 23 * * * Request timed out. 24 * * * Request timed out. 25 * * * Request timed out. 26 * * * Request timed out. 27 * * * Request timed out. 28 * * * Request timed out. 29 * * * Request timed out. 30 * * * Request timed out. Trace complete.[/CODE] Something happened at that 8th hop. After several minutes, a logon attempt succeeded, I was able to see a list of my characters and enter the world... Did not notice any rollback. Waited a few minutes after that one was complete then tried again about 3:38am (US Central). The only difference really was the delays in milliseconds around those 7th and 8th hops were much, much lower (first try was 254, 259, and 255 ms and 640 ms at the 7th and 8th hops respectively; the second attempt, they were about 100-120 ms each). The website started responding again moments later (a live version). On the Realm Status page, Darrowshire reported an uptime of just 23 seconds, while the other realms each reported at least a day or two... But when I asked others I know on Darrowshire, they were still online and said they experienced no downtime whatsoever.
  11. So I got rolled back. I got to Menethil Harbor in the Wetlands, grabbed the flight path, and started questing. Then this situation happened, and now when I was able to get back on again, I no longer had the FP and all the questing I had done was gone. I would consider the possibility that I was questing on a server I had been DCed from, but the murlocs and other world objects, NPCs, etc. were responding to me. I was able to accept quests, loot items, etc. right up until the lag happened as I mentioned, and the rollback took me to a point before that. Additionally, I asked around in LookingForGroup and nobody else seems to have gotten rolled back... Ok mixed responses after a bit, some people were rolled back, others say they were not...
  12. My apologies if this occurrence was due to maintenance (I didn't see an announcement about it). It has happened to me several days in a row though.
  13. Follow-up Probably worth mentioning, Ive tried the following to see if it would help: - Deleted WTF and WDB folders completely - Making a new account and trying to connect with it - Followed the suggested steps in Some common issues and how to solve them for step 7 "I cannot connect to the server / I get immediately disconnected" Those haven't worked yet... I am on SuddenLink gigabit internet service in the central United States, if it helps.
  14. This has been happening occasionally for a few days now. I'll be playing, then the game will lag - nothing will happen in the world, though I can move around but can't attack anything, means network issue. So I close my client, make sure everything's OK with my own connection, then try to log back in. I'm able to authenticate, it says Successful and all that, but then it gets to "Connected" and just stops. Nothing further happens. If I click "Cancel" on that, and view the realm list, I can get onto other realms and see my character lists no problem. This only seems to happen when I try to load into Darrowshire (or its NA proxy).
