When a new player starts up his game, he gets the choice of what of type of realm he would like to play. If the person likes pve and presses the pve box, he'll get brought to darrowshire. Second, they open the realm list, see in big bright letters 'PVP' or 'PVE'. There are plenty of opportunities and information to make you choose PVE, the people that are crying about the ganks are kiddo's going with the big population so just roll on popular PVP realms, expecting people to be friendly that they won't gank you.
