Our official response to Nostalrius — Elysium will prevail!
Wirt replied to Shenna's topic in Official Information
Fair enough. I respect the fact that most rely on their emotions when making decisions. I'm also playing on their servers despite what I know. However I've taken into consideration that the servers may be shut down at any moment. -

Nostalrius is here to stay. Are you going to stick with your principles or play with your friends? -

If you knew that, why bother playing at all since you despise Nostalrius so much? -

They're basically giving us all the finger and want all WoW "pirate" servers to shut down. All this because they have some ambitions with Blizzard. Yeah, Blizzard, the very company that ruined the game in the first place. They all got horny expecting paid positions within a Legacy servers' team at Blizzard. Had they been put pressure on they wouldn't release their data and certainly not announcing it to everybody. It just doesn't add up with your previous sentence. They could've transferred their data without reach by Blizzard's radars, thus sparing themselves from further prosecution. -
When someone is LFG for DM they are most likely referring to The Deadmines. Had they been after Dire Maul they would most likely specify which side. To satisfy your skepticism you can shift+leftclick their name.

Not at all. When have they engaged in such a witch hunt? We've not even seen the supposed threat letter. Also aren't all private servers receiving these letters? It's standard procedure. If what you're saying is true then they're doomed no matter what and will be facing court and jail. They absolutely do. They shut down their servers in hopes of getting paid positions at Blizzard. When it didn't go their way they gave the data to Elysium. Blizzard contacted Nostalrius again and wants to know where its loyalty stands. That's why we're seeing Nostalrius being regretful of giving away their data. There's money involved. Nostalrius wouldn't roll themselves in the dirt for nothing. They knew more than anyone what was coming when they announced their absurd demands. You're contradicting yourself. First you say Nostalrius gains nothing by releasing the code to Elysium. Then you claim they need to protect themselves from Blizzard's persecution. Why on Earth would they release the data, further engaging in criminal activity, if they're being prosecuted by Blizzard? No, we cannot do that. It is literally impossible without the token data. Since you seem to know so much and are involved in both projects maybe you could answer other questions. Why was there a letter made several days prior to Nostalrius' announcement? Why didn't you let the community have a say on this? Why are you complying to several of their demands? You knew in advance what the reaction would be, yet you submit yourself to their insanity. There is more to this than meets the eye. -

As a big business, once you're labeled as a bully you're into big trouble. They can't prosecute people without the media announcing to everyone what they're doing. Fine Brothers on YouTube is a perfect example of what happens when greed takes the upper hand. Recently a company in Sweden purhcased rights for movies, TV series, etc. and used their rights to prosecute downloaders. Internet Service Providers (ISP) got overwhelmed with criticism for subordinating themselves to this company and had to refuse giving them data in order to secure their subscriptions. People were going to other ISPs in order to protect themselves from being handed out to this greedy scum. That company has ceased to exist as their business is no longer lucrative. AFAIK even though a lot got these threat letters dimped down in their mailboxes noone was prosecuted into court. Some paid in fear of getting to that point though. -

I'm not into this. All I know is that I can still add my old characters and friends old characters to my friendlist. Elysium would have to answer wether they had the power to restore our characters prior to them wiping out all Nostalrius related data that wasn't transferred through the token service. And if they didn't it doesn't matter. They had no ambitions whatsoever to get them back, which the leaked response and their, within hours, actions to wipe the data out testifies for. If Elysium had the balls they'd be on our side and condone Nostalrius for shutting down the character transferring service without warning. Also you're just parroting the silly idea that Nostalrius' is held at gunpoint by Blizzard. It's ridiculous. They would never carry out a witch hunt on these guys. That would smear them as bullies and as such they'd lose a considerable amount of subscriptions. -

You're saying it has zero substance and at the same time you're pointing out what should raise doubts to all of us. Who's managing the levers at your headquarters? I've already clarified more than enough what Elysium submitted themselves to. Here are several quotes from their official response to Nostalrius: -

Our official response to Nostalrius — Elysium will prevail!
Wirt replied to Shenna's topic in Official Information
They're deleting all character related data from characters not redeemed through tokens. I'm pretty sure Elysium could redeem those characters themselves if they wanted. And if not they could set pressure on Nostalrius to restart the transferring service which they shut down without warning. Instead Elysium isn't even condoning this. Edit: If anything Elysium is being unethical by destroying all our characters related data. Elysium was handed a gift by Nostalrius and you don't simply comply and withdraw your gifts. You should also take into consideration that people from Nostalrius are working with Elysium aswell. -

Except from the connectivity issues we've been having I think their vanilla servers are great. The problem I have with Elysium is the fact that just like Nostalrius they're not letting the community know what the hell is going on. Nostalrius could've told us all about Blizzard's threat letters and give us an opportunity to come to a sane conclusion. Instead they started buttlicking Blizzard by shutting down their servers in hope they'd get paid positions in a "legacy servers" team. And lets not talk about their cringeworthy t-shirt campaigns... Elysium is up to shady stuff with Nostalrius. They both advocate these "official legacy servers" by Blizzard. Also the leaked letter and the fact that Elysium is submitting to Nostalrius' demands speaks for itself. They're not with us. -

Wirt replied to Shenna's topic in Official Information
Are you serious? Blizzard wouldn't dare shut down any private servers. And how many other private server hosts haven't received these threat letters? From history we learn that Goliath shouldn't mess with David. It's not unthinkable that Blizzard adventures hundred of thousands of subscriptions if they would carry this out. Fine Brothers from Youtube are a good example for what can happen when greed takes over. If this truly was a smokescreen to get Nostalrius out of Blizzard's grasp then we would have Elysium condoning Nostalrius for its obnoxious demands. Instead everything points to that they're in collusion due to the fact that they're complying to them. And then there's of course the leaked letter which further proves it has all been choreographed. -

You're missing the point. Both Nostalrius and Elysium are aware of that their decisions would be frowned upon by the community. It's obvious that there's something else going on behind the scenes. Edit: Nostalrius has now locked the announcement topic over at their forums. Except from Viper's initial post not a single staff member has posted over there. The hatred against the thugs lasted for 29 hours until they couldn't take no more. -

They know exactly what has happened. That's the reason they decided to run us over by deciding what to do without the community's consent. The leaked document clearly confirms this. -

Our official response to Nostalrius — Elysium will prevail!
Wirt replied to Shenna's topic in Official Information
Absolutely. And that's the key to all of the things going on right now. Why are Nostalrius and Elysium frenetically supporting these so-called "official" legacy servers by Blizzard? The renunciatory response from Blizzard and the time that has passed should be enough to get ones hopes down. Yet Nostalrius is advocating these servers more than ever and Elysium has jumped in their wagon. Nostalrius didn't shut down their servers because of a threat letter they supposedly got from Blizzard's lawyers. They know that Blizzard would never carry such a thing out because it would reputate them as bullies, losing them more than a hundred of thousands of subscriptions. Since Blizzard won't shut private servers down the simple answer is that they bought Nostalrius from within. -

Well said except from the hate towards Nostalrius. They deserve every single middle finger they can get. We hate goldsellers, but atleast they are open about their operations. The shady scum over at Nostalrius on the other hand have sold their authenticity for money. Behind the curtains, like thugs! Wise post. It's been choreographed for a long time. First Nostalrius gives their data to Elysium. Then Elysium complies on deleting Nostalrius data while at the same time copying and pasting it with their own label. Thus Nostalrius regains loyalty to Blizzard and Elysium gets to be a target for bribery aswell. A couple of elites at the top get paychecks while the playerbase will be run over once again. -

Wirt replied to Shenna's topic in Official Information
If anything we're simply giving the finger to Blizzard by playing on private servers. They're the last ones we'd ask for legal vanilla servers due to the fact that they messed them up in the first place. The original team that worked on vanilla WoW has perished. In has come a group of shadowy figures that have nothing in mind but to absorb our money and hypnotize us with their political ideas. -

Our official response to Nostalrius — Elysium will prevail!
Wirt replied to Shenna's topic in Official Information
Elysium can't be trusted. They had a well thought out response to Nostalrius several days prior to Nostalrius announcing their demands. Elysium also edited a post on Twitter after the leak. Nostalrius obviously has money in mind here. They've been bought by Blizzard and have even been advertising and selling stupid t-shirts. They're advocating "official" legacy servers from Blizzard even though nobody wants them. Nobody wants them in the sense that they will be utter sh**! They would implement services to pay for such as XP boost, heirlooms, transmorg gear, shiny mounts, etc. I highly doubt even 1% of players have had in mind that they're fighting for a bigger cause by playing on Nostalrius or Elysium. Nobody has had in mind that they're fighting for "official" legacy servers from Blizzard by playing on these servers. We play because we love vanilla and that's it. So the real question we should be asking ourselves is wether Elysium is with Nostalrius on this one. The first hint we have is that Elysium too is strongly advocating "official" legacy servers by Blizzard. The 2nd hint is the fact that Elysium is being submissive to Nostalrius when it should be supportive to the community. They should be telling Nostarlius to f*** off. Instead of doing that they're complying to remove the Nostalrius core and all data from non-transferred characters. And in their response they don't even mention that Nostalrius shut down the transferring service. They shut down the tranferring process, totally eradicating tremendous dedication and history from our lives and Elysium doesn't even react! Elysium is doing shady stuff by not letting the community decide wether to comply to Nostalrius' demands or not. Take a look at the Nostalrius forums and you'll see a tremendous hatred towards Nostalrius. Any idiot could've figured that one out. Elysium is not letting us decide, which means it's in collusion with Nostalrius, Elysium has had a well thought out response several days in advance prior to Nostalrius announcing their sh**. Shady, very shady. Elysium can't be trusted. -
Fair enough. I asked on another thread about Nostalrius PvP to put things into perspective. What was the population cap on Nostalrius PvP when it launched? How long were the queues the first weeks after launch? How long were they after a couple of months? If we get an answer to these questions we could come to a healthy conclusion regarding a new server. Yes, I believe this is the case we're having here. We must also consider the fact that there will be hype even on the new server. It basically means that those who couldn't start on Elysium PvP for a fresh start would come for this on the new server instead. We wouldn't just see huge numbers from Elysium PvP coming to the new server. We would also get a standalone stream of new players.
 -
Right now there's an obvious demand for a 4th server. The constant 5-10k queues on Elysium PvP attests for this. The question is how much of an effect the hype death will have. Does anybody remember what the population cap was and how big queues there were on Nostalrius PvP when it first launched? How long were the queues on Nostalrius PvP a couple of weeks and months after launch?

Increase minimum level needed to wisper anyone!!!
Wirt replied to rprimora's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
The only real problem I see by restricting whispering until level 13 is the ability to whisper friends or friendly people you'd like to keep in contact with. Wouldn't it be possible to enable whispering if both have eachother added as friends? -
None of the servers experienced the monster queues we're having on Elysium PvP right now. And certainly not for this long. It has been gong on since launch the 7th. I'm currently on a 9.3k queue and if the servers don't reset or crash it'll take me several hours before I get in. Also, why the attitude? Noone was being rude. Are you frustrated that you made the decision to play on the PvE server, missing out on a lot of PvP action and the fresh start taking place on Elysium PvP? If that's the case, stop being so committed and start playing with us.

What I mean is that you can basically get help with any quest anywhere due to the massive population. Specially in low level zones. Thus the need for whispering diminishes. -

Wirt replied to rprimora's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
This is a very good idea. Considering the massive amount of lowbies on these servers there's no real need for whispering. If you have friends you can always invite them to your party. This is what I do all the time with my friends. And if you can't party up you can chat or talk through an external program. I'd suggest enabling whispering at around level 13-14 because that's mainly when you start doing dungeons (Ragefire Chasm recommended levels being 13-20).
