I think that Wod models cannot be implemented for technical reasons. -
Wanted: Screenshots of Alliance winning a BG
Fladrif replied to thebleach's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
I played 40+ WG in the last weekend with my druid (37-38) on Elysium PVP. We won just 2 or 3 battles and I was too excited to take a SS. I've read somewhere that PvE ppl tend to roll alliance, while dedicated PvP guys roll horde... Yes, it's frustrating... but I really can't roll on horde until they get blood elves: they're just too ugly -
What I mean here is simple and straightforward: what if "Vanilla WoW class balance" in PvE was designed to be a little more profound than tank-heal-dps ? What if hybrid classes were designed to fulfil different roles in the same dungeon? Imagine that warrior is always supposed to tank independently from the spec (otherwise you won't roll a warrior), and a priest is always supposed to heal. Then the mage, the rogue, the warlock and the hunter are all designed to bring Damage (dps in wow jargon) in different ways. Why should the druid, the paladin and the shaman perform exclusively a single role in the same dungeon? For example, I think that a druid should be healer, kitty or off-tank depending on the specific pull that the group is engaging. So, when we create the usual 5men group, ideally we should look for: 1 warrior, 1 priest, 1 mage/rogue 1 warlock/hunter (hunter if we have the mage, and warlock if we have the hunter in order to provide different kinds of damage -melee or spells-) 1 druid/paladin (play support-healer and off-tank and dps depending on the specific needs of the group and special buffs) In this way, it should be possible to play the unpopular spec without problems because the group will always have support-healer and off-tank. Fury warrior will be a good enough tank and the shadow priest will do good as well... because of the support classes. Also, retribution paladin could do good as well since he's not main-tank nor main-healer. And people will stop saying druids are almost useless. Druids are almost useless in a game structured for a tank-heal-dps base groups because this model is too simplistic. This understood model forced blizzard to heavily modify their original ideas of "support classes" so that a druid and a paladin could legitimately play as main-tank and main-healer. That possibility was eventually contemplated, but as you know it requires a specific devotion of talents and gear that not many were supposed to invest. This is just an opinion of course. Nothing more than a suggestion. LF5M ---> 1war, 1priest, 2dps, 1 support .... instead of the usual "tank/ heal/ dps" were support classes are forced to play a role that is not theirs. What do you think? What if this game is more profound than we always thought? I apologize for my bad English grammar.

In fact, the druid class is so deeply misunderstood that ppl play it as a rogues or as priests... Having a druid doesn't mean that you get another DD, nor another healer, nor another tank. You get a player who can easily cast HoTs (saving priests mana) and deal decent damages in a fight. You get a player who can SS into an off-tank and help with problematic pulls. You get a player with powerful buffs, meaning that he helps you doing more damage. In my opinion, to play a druid with rogue/priest gears is a product of misunderstanding.

(CLOSED, SOMEONE MAKE 1.1) The Blacklist, Elysium PVP 1.0
Fladrif replied to cybaster's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
You bimbi-minkias have no idea about efficiency... you just want to see shiny things on your char and big numbs when you hit. You miss the inter-dependency of class-roles... Guess how retail has become the shit that it's today: Blizzard just answered to most of the retarded requests from players... -

Not really... But the overall benefit -in term of damage absorptions- of wearing full plate is undeniable. So, warriors 40+ should stop collecting leather stuff. -

The equivalent plate item isn't a grey no-stats trashy +200 armor -

Imho, to play a warrior and roll on leather equipment is retarded. -

C'è qualche italiano su Elysium PvP alleanza?

I'm not a Blizz-like cultist and when I say "Vanilla spirit" I just mean the quintessential spiritual trinity of walk, grind and wipe... and being ganked in between. Otherwise I wouldn't simply type blizza-like, don't you think?

If you want an additional bank char who's able to sell stuff and whisper, you have to earn it and level up to 10. This is quintessential vanilla spirit. I love it.

Originally, the druid was designed as a support class: he should interpret different roles in the same dungeon, independently from the spec. You can see this idea in the peculiar healing spells (healing over time, meaning that you support healer and do dps and the same time) and the advantages and limits of the resurrection spell (which requires a reagent and it has 30 min of cd). The community of players never understood this concept and play-style... and they relegated each class into the three roles model: Healer, tank and Dps. The consequence is that shamans, druids and paladins were often found somewhat inadequate. But in the original design, they were imagined to be hybrids and to be played as such, independently from the spec. Blizzard has a winning marketing strategy which consists in "listening" to the community rather than forcing their original ideas and you can clearly see this approach by login in retail wow today. So, by the advent of WOTLK, Blizzard said "ok, we'll design our content with your three roles model of tank- healer-dps", but in Vanilla you don't really have that... and the druid is a decent healer only with resto spec. Best advice is to find a friendly guild where you can play hybrids as support classes. Second best advice is to roll a priest and be a respected and appreciated healer.

When I want to make sure that the server is populated enough, I just type /who Teldrassil (or any starting zone) and see for myself without giving credit to anyone. Try different combinations es. /who 5-8 or /who 17-30 and you'll see that the only way to read less than the 50 ppl displayed is to look for 50+. I wonder what do you mean by "barely any new player"... did you login in some sort of Outland?
-
Hahaha ! Definitely, I can't wait to login! :-)

Nostalrius Announcement? What's going to happen?
Fladrif replied to Dani's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
I foresee the closing of Nostalrius PvP and Nostalrius PvE realms. Nostalrius doesn't want his realms to be active at all. Many will leave the Vanilla Community because Blizzard has magnificently struck his enemy. From the 10k+ players, some of them will roll on Zek'tar PvP, making it as massive as Elysium PvP. Elysium projecy will have 2 massively populated PvP realms and hopefully will be safe... until Blizzard strikes again with a new strategy. Eventually, the future will see Elysium PvE. -
4 reasons to roll Nostalrius-PvP over Elysium
Fladrif replied to Lifealert's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
I wanted to play on the fresh server, but it's impossible to login for the long que. In addition, the Nostalrius token generator doesn't work and I can't get my Nost chars back. But in the end, for the sake of -at least- playing some WoW, I reluctantly rolled another char on Nost PvP. It feels so masochistic to play this game... sometimes I think it's just a Blizzard conspiracy so that ppl get tired with private servers and roll on retail -
Same problem here. The forum is very slow and it's a miracle if I can post this.

No, sto parlando del nuovo server che aprirà il 7 gennaio e si chiamerà Elysium pvp, dove si partirà tutti da liv 1.

Yes, that proves an intelligent craft of the early developers: if a druid, the paladin/shaman was really tired of playing hybrid, he was given a chance to specialize. But by no means they could become decent dps because there are way too many dps class. edited
