				Elysium's Fight Against Hacking Software!
Shiamorah replied to Shenna's topic in Official Information
Good news to hear! Just curious, are the items rolled back or removed? These kind of numbers could be devastating to the economy if the items stay in circulation, even if the accounts are banned. Regardless, keep up the good work! -
you need to modify config.wtf remove the line that has the test server on it

Hacked - Is there anything that can be done?
Shiamorah replied to SuperSteef's topic in Help & Support
Hello, good job securing your account, I'm sorry that you lost your gold. Unfortunately due to their ToS, Elysium staff won't refund your gold. -

3 questions from a new player here !
Shiamorah replied to RickOwens's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
By the way, your audio and video settings are saved in your WTF folder, the file called "config.wtf" Something might be happening with that. -
Try deleting your WTF and WDB folder. Let me know how that works.

Post your ban appeal here: https://forum.elysium-project.org/forum/351-ban-appeals/ Posting threads like this likely won't help you in getting unbanned. Good luck!

My knowledge is that an unrelated WoW private server had its entire database compromised, which is what sparked the increase amount of security, and the creation of the 2FA system here. So anyone that has the same account name and password on that server can be compromised. But, your questions are still valid and should be answered, for the benefit of everyone.
 -
It is pretty obvious this guy isn't looking to get his gold or items restored, or looking for information about 2FA. He isn't wasting anyone's time, he is just wondering general questions that really can't be answered by anyone besides those associated with the project.
 -
I think the idea of locking an account for a period after unsuccessful attempts is a good idea. I'm not sure if this is already implemented in some shape or form. I'm also not sure if this is even possible with Vanilla, but maybe. I notified some of the Community Managers of this thread, so hopefully they will give us some context on the situation. Good questions though! I know that the staff here cares about each individuals security, and wouldn't do anything unreasonable to compromise that.
 -
Still having this issue? Simple attempt at fixing - try running as administrator and in compatibility mode as windows 8
 -
Yeah, unfortunately you won't get your items restored unless they are quest related. 2FA will be something to secure your account, you should definitely do it, even if you consider it too late. I would also probably contact a staff member regarding this, so they can track down the person that did this to you. (Revenge!) I'm sorry that this happened to you.

				Are character skin/model mods legal?
Shiamorah replied to Iwillmeltyou's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
A little elaboration -- Anything that modifies data files is bannable here. While the staff have officially claimed that the idea of updating models is not necessarily bannable, the idea here is that Warden, which is the automated ban detection system, will automatically ban you when it sees you are playing with modified data files. At that point, the ban looks no different than if you were hacking your data files, even if it was only changing your models to nicer versions. The staff here have stated that you are free to attempt to change your models, but don't be surprised if you get banned. They have also stated if you get banned this way, there isn't much likelihood of you being unbanned. This is definitely a use at your own risk situation, and if you get banned for doing it (which is highly likely), I wouldn't suggest even trying to appeal. -

Rezzing Landro Longshot Loot for $$$ Donation(s)
Shiamorah replied to Facepalm's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Actually, that is entirely incorrect. This is a very easy concept to understand. Illegal server A has 100 population. Illegal server B has 2000 population. Blizzard will pursue server B first, obviously. Illegal server A has no in-game currency for real life money, a direct violation of the law. Illegal server B has in-game currency for real life money. Blizzard will pursue server B first, obviously. When you are performing an act like hosting a server that technically isn't allowed by the terms and conditions of a company, the best thing you can do is stay under their radar as much as possible. Allowing something like this puts you under their radar. It gives more wiggle room for shutting the server down. This just isn't going to happen, I guarantee it. -

Rezzing Landro Longshot Loot for $$$ Donation(s)
Shiamorah replied to Facepalm's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
This is a Blizzard feature. This has nothing to do with what I am saying at all. Blizzard owns the copyright for World of Warcraft, so they can do whatever they want. They can use in-game currency for real life money all they want. I am saying that from the very start the existence of a private server like this is illegal under copyright laws. If this server used in-game currency for real life money, it would be even more illegal, making it even easier for Blizzard to issue a cease and desist. They have more legal ground to do so, understand? Even though the existence of this server is already technically illegal, you can do things that make it more illegal, and put it on Blizzard's radar. Using in-game currency for real life money is one of these. -

Shiamorah replied to Facepalm's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
This thread is not about t-shirts and mugs, so please don't derail it. The very easy and basic fact here is that copyright law is very obviously violated when you use an in-game item and sell it for real money. How the item is obtained doesn't matter, they are the same. Buying items as a user is not something that Blizzard legally pursues, but they shut down servers that use in-game currency (items, gold, etc) for real life money. This is why servers tread a very thin line with donations to buy items, or purchasing tokens to then buy in-game items. This isn't an argument, these are facts. If you look at any cease and desist order ever made by Blizzard, they always mention the use of in-game currency being exchanged for real life money. It's a very simple violation of law, which is why it is easy for Blizzard to pursue a cease and desist order. -

Shiamorah replied to Facepalm's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
All I know is you start selling items, regardless of what they are, and Blizzard gives more attention, because you start to profit off of the game. There are a lot of laws regarding this and make it much, much easier for them to take legal action. -

Rezzing Landro Longshot Loot for $$$ Donation(s)
Shiamorah replied to Facepalm's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
It allows for abuse of donations from staff, and also puts the server on much more of a watch by Blizzard. It's illegal to openly accept money for items, which is why they usually do it via votes or purchasing of tokens to then buy items. Servers that do this are targeted by Blizzard much more harshly than servers that don't. I assume every server you've been to that has done this has been shut down. Because in my experience, that is the case. -

Accepting donations like this is just the first step to failure, I assure you! -
	Great work!
 -
Post a ban appeal to figure out why you were banned!
 -
This is something I would be okay with not being blizzlike.
 -
Nothing you can do. And it makes sense why. You could say the same thing if it wasn't your account in the first place. Basically, you have lost all means of proving that your account is yours. That is no one's fault besides your own, unfortunately. I'd try my best to recover that email address.

	What is the problem?
