Hai thar. gotmilk is right about Aimed Shot's threat generation being difficult for your pet to keep up, but I'm inclined to disagree about BM being better for PvP. MM can burst people down in seconds. I leveled MM / Surv with high crit and great CC with much success. As for the Aimed Shot threat issue, a simple combo will take down most enemies, even with a pet without Growl: Aimed Multi(r1) Feign Aimed Multi(r1) With autos where possible between everything, just like endgame. Your pet only needs to hold the target long enough for you to get a burst combo or two off - he doesn't need to hold over sustained damage. It also REALLY helps to send your pet in ahead of you! Even an extra second could be enough for a 38 Broken Tooth with Growl to hold aggro on against an Aimed Shot. If you don't have Growl, you can send your pet at two enemies and have it DPS one while you perform a burst combo or two on the other one. When that one's down, the first could be at 70% or so, giving your pet a good deal of threat from damage alone. If you need pet control macros, here ya go: https://forum.elysium-project.org/topic/29824-hunter-macros-tips-redux/ Have fun.

I have found a solution for the Aimed Shot problem. The creator of Luna recently updated the addon's Aimed Shot cast timer to function properly and you can see it in action in the Alterac Valley video near the bottom of the OP. If you're still having trouble with the Aimed Shot cast timer showing up with rais, I'd say, give Luna a try instead. Here's a download link: https://github.com/Aviana/LunaUnitFrames/archive/master.zip That SHOULD be the right link. Lemme know if it's not, and I'll fix it. Just remember to remove the "-master" from the end of the folder name. In your Addons folder, it should only be called "LunaUnitFrames" - anything else will cause it to not show up! It's a github thing, adding that to the end of downloads. If a UI overhaul isn't an idea you're fond of, he's also working on improving rais_AutoShot. We're in touch. I'll be sure to drop a link to his work here when he's done. :)

Multi has a 0.5 second cast time. It's not instant.

That's how many get their BT, m8 :p The best part is that he has three respawn times. So, even if one camps one spot, he may spawn at any of the others! Isn't that clever? If you don't have time to camp a place, yourself, then you can speak with other hunters hunting him and get the spawn times. People rotate in and out of the hunt all the time, no one can be camping 24/7 after all, and you're bound to find someone who can tell you the time to be back and ready to attempt a tame. That way, you don't have to camp! Another strategy is to be there after a server restart or crash. These can be a little difficult to predict, so if you want to take advantage of crashes, you might want to consider leaving your hunter at any of the BT spawns and leveling up a different character in the meantime. When the server crashes, you can hop right on your hunter, and you'll have been productive while waiting for him. During an announced restart, on the other hand, you could bring your hunter there during the time they give you to prepare for the restart. You can usually see just how long the restart or shutdown is by checking the Elysium twitter or something, but I've found that crashes tend to spawn rares back, and little restarts don't seem to do anything of the sort. A long shutdown might, but once again, you have to be prepared to be one of the first back online. Good luck, m8.

Note to self: stay away from Shadowclaw on my alt...

Considering that Artorius does not have the debuff stacking properly, and the kite will be longer, I echo the notion that rank 1 arcane shot is ideal for keeping him on you without going OOM too quickly. Restorative potions are also quite beneficial for Artorius and can be much more effective than Shadow Protection at keeping you safe. I also used rank 1 Multi-Shot to kill the beetles on the Silithus demon. Very mana efficient.

I can confirm that what Trales said is most likely accurate. The respawn timer was indeed four hours on Darrowshire and Anathema, so it's probably the same on Zeth'kur. Congratz on your Broken Tooth tames, guys! <3

Back on Nost 1.0, you could kill mobs your pet's level and it'd gain your pet XP. It didn't matter if your pet got a hit on it or not. Not sure if that still works, but if you run around one-shotting or two-shotting things with Auto Shot and Multi Shot(rank 1), it should level your new pet up nice and fast. Gratz on Lupos, by the way :)

That's really unfortunate. I wish I knew what the problem was! It makes me sad that other hunters are having difficulty with it. Alas, the original developer for the addon is back on the original Nost forums, as far as I know; I'm not sure if they're here, or if they would have any other answer for you. I can only say it works for me. You may want to consider trying the AttackBar addon. It can time your Auto Shots and melee strikes. Not sure about Aimed. Perhaps that will work better for you? I like rais more, but I haven't had difficulty with it, so. :p Nope, but you can still maximize your power by taking advantage of their instant nature during the Auto Shot cooldown. Strafe away and shoot, rather than just fire 'em off without care! Pardon me, I realize you didn't ask for advice, but I'm kind of a captain obvious. :)

You're quite welcome! Please do let me know if there are any really awesome macros you're willing to share. :) http://www.mediafire.com/file/lthyfecdl8v2yoq/rais_AutoShot.zip I've re-uploaded my own copy of rais. Maybe the current upload got corrupted somehow. The above link should be the same as the one in the OP. Hopefully it will work now!

Guys, guys: Easy to learn, difficult to master.

Warriors and rogues can be difficult to shake before you can drop freezing traps on their faces. After level 30, you should have little issue with getting away from them. If you don't have Scatter Shot, since you're Beast Mastery, try dropping your Freezing Trap after Intimidation. Not very good use of your stun if you plan on re-engaging after Freezing Trap, but if you're having THAT much trouble landing your trap, maybe using Intimidation will help you learn. Or account for lag, whatever your problem is. Either way, you have to be aggressive while dropping your trap. Get right up in their face so they can't get out of it, and CC them somehow before dropping it. Scatter Shot and Wing Clip are good abilities to set up for a trap. If you want a spec that has BM talents and is swell for PvP, try BM / MM with Scatter Shot and Intimidation. You won't have its full power until you're pretty high level, but you'll have something to work with. If you go straight to Scatter Shot or Intimidation, then start sinking points into the other tree, you'll have both abilities by level 51. Also, Serpent Sting isn't bad to keep on a stealthie, especially in a team fight when your allies can't see your Hunter's Mark target, though you can. It helps to ensure they can't escape, but Hunter's Mark will typically do the job just fine.

A few people have been having problems with rais. Which is strange, because I uploaded my own personal copy, and that works a-okay for me. I apologize for the difficulty. I'll see about re-uploading it, maybe the uploaded file got corrupted somehow.

If I find whatever macros you're referring to, I will edit the OP! :)

Hey guys! Sorry about the late reply, I didn't get any notifications for these comments for some reason. That's not the right macro. It's supposed to say this: /script if GetUnitName("target")==nil then TargetNearestEnemy() end /cast Arcane Shot(rank 1) /script if not IsAutoRepeatAction(3) then CastSpellByName("Auto Shot"); end The third line is different. In your version, it's over 255 characters and toggles auto attack on if you're too close. In this version, it only toggles Auto Shot on, and remains under 255 characters. None of the macros should require Supermacro to work. Supermacro is still a cool addon though! :) There is no Serpent / Wyvern Sting macro. There's a Viper / Scorpid, but that works just fine for me. Perhaps it's a client issue? If your client is in, say, a different language, maybe it fails to read scripts properly? Cool macro, Yuqq ^^ They should all be fixed. I use the macros listed in this thread and they all work just fine for me. Perhaps it's a client issue? If your client is in, say, a different language, maybe it fails to read scripts properly?

I got a request to add PetFeeder to the thread, and I haven't tried it yet, so I haven't posted any details. The way I do my feeding is I keep my food in the bottom left corner of my backpack and my macro will feed the meat there to Rapture. I see that these are two different addons. I'll link both addons here, I suppose, and get around to putting details when I can. http://addons.us.to/addon/petfeeder http://addons.us.to/addon/gfwfeedomatic My disclaimer from the OP still stands. Scan what you download - just in case. :)

Never mind. You're so dense.

I vehemently disagree. And furthermore, I think you're missing the point. That sort of selfish, callous attitude is exactly the sort of attitude that alienates other players from you. The reason to be honorable to others is not just to be 'warm and fuzzy.' It builds trust, makes friendship easier, and ultimately the people you help are more likely to come help you. And, the consequences of being dishonorable often fall on someone else! At least, at first. I'll give you a few examples of the benefits I've personally reaped. On Kronos II, I had Crusader on my Ravager before I could even equip it because of a friend's donation. I got an entire set of Fang gear for my druid from another friend who just wanted to chill out with me. I had help taming Broken Tooth on Nostalrius 1.0 from someone who stood out there with me and had a clock ready to tell me at the exact time, "okay, tame now." I had a reliable list of friends to draw from for quickly forming a group and clearing a dungeon. And the Horde tended to let me quest in peace when I didn't strike them when I could. There's always going to be someone who acts with greed over honor, and it's a good idea to be prepared for them, but perpetuating dishonorable conduct (especially in a social community like WoW) is a poor decision with potentially detrimental long-term effects. Now here's where you're missing the point. Tagging quest mobs isn't dishonorable, it's competition. Taming rare pets over others in the immediate area isn't dishonorable either, it's once again competition. It's the way that it happened at the top of this thread - someone actually kited BT away from him while he was in the middle of taming to tame it. This is to the detriment of the entire hunter community because not only can BT be killed easily in a scrap like that, but it sows discord.
-
Not always, obviously, but if you're fond of PvP, it's not going to do you many favors. I went 100 / 0 with a BM hunter at level 40 or so back on Nost 1.0. Your pet may be a killing machine, but if you can't survive while it does it's job, you're kinda screwed. That's fair. I prefer to take a more active role in the game, so I play MM / Surv. When I do my AFK, which I do fairly often, I just dismiss, shadowmeld someplace safe, and step away for a few.
-
I seem to run into it more often in PvE, actually. The FD/trap bug.
-
Just because others won't do the honorable thing doesn't mean you shouldn't. What SgtDeath said is quite true. As a point of interest, my Broken Tooth turned a caster's 3 second cast time into 7~ seconds reliably during testing. You might wanna do a little testing for your 1.3, yourself.
-
It's true, BM turns your pet into a monster tank and trivializes PvE. But... you know, if you're on a PvP server, it doesn't exactly excel at killing enemy players. I leveled with MM / Surv, myself, and really enjoyed the journey up. If you're not in a rush, or if you hate ganks, maybe a new spec is a good idea anyway, if not for efficiency then for fun. Besides, auto shooting stuff to death is boring. Now, burst comboing some poor red team scrub out of Shadowmeld... that's fun ;)
-
I haven't had any pets run away on me, but I can confirm that FD/trap only works sometimes, and not because FD is resisted. FD is broken, it works 100% of the time, which is great for your repair bill, but sometimes your trap just won't go off for some reason. Since I'm fresh back from another vanilla server, I kinda forgot the reason and haven't had the chance to test it yet :p The only bug with talents I know of at this time is that Entrapment procs while other units are standing in your Frost Trap. If I'm not mistaken, it's meant to be that it triggers after the trap has sprung, not during its effect. However, this is quite fair, because if the Horde can just hop right up the back cliff of Alterac Valley without breaking the rules, then the bridge and choke point near the backdoor should be easier to lock down. There's also a bug where your Auto Shot will stop forever until you spazz out a bit. Just trigger your Auto Attack with Raptor Strike or something and then go right back into Auto Shot, and that should fix it. It usually happens while your Auto Shot is on and you get stunned.

Seconded. If the PvP server can agree to be civil over demons and Broken Tooth, the PvE server should be able to as well.
