    Hunter Macros & Tips [Redux]

No problem! Glad it helped. Yes, that is indeed why I put it there. It does nothing, it's just meant to show the cooldown for Raptor Strike. Nirinia is correct. I just have a bunch of random binds on the right side of my keyboard I hit when I wanna mark stuff up. I've been doing it a while and since I do the pulls and marks for my guild in raids, I'm in good practice. Not that those vids are by any means modern, they're actually from quite a while ago on Kronos, it just takes ages for me to edit the footage. :p I'd love to get Gnomeregan done some time before next century...

I'm not sure how you'd work it with auto casts, but I think you could do it via conditionals. For example, if your target's target is you, cast Disengage and Growl. Vice versa for if your target's target is your pet. Lemme see... something like this? I don't think "targetoftarget" is a thing, and I cannot test for long right now, but something like this. If you come up with something, lemme know :D

I'm gonna have to leave a "Contributors" list in the OP and direct people to specific pages just so awesome lists like these can be found. :p I could actually use that pet attack macro. I'd change it so if the pet is attacking the target already, don't send the attack command again... that way, it'll prevent the use of Dash or Dive redundantly. About the macros you're having trouble with, here's my Raptor Strike macro: And here's my Scare Beast macro: About the Raptor Strike macro, it was screwed up for me too. I got an addon and that fixed it. Here's an analysis: - The first line only shows the cooldown of Raptor Strike. It's pointless except for that purpose. - The second line is meant to keep attack enabled. That's the line that doesn't work. - The third, fourth, and fifth lines cast Raptor Strike, Counterattack(rank 1), and Mongoose Bite with respective priority. Here's the addon that fixes Auto Attack, and then this macro should work as intended: https://github.com/shirsig/notoggle As for the Scare Beast macro, as you said, there's nothing wrong with it... I dunno why it wouldn't be working. You've gotta target yourself or your friend, and have the bandages in the lower right slot in your backpack, but other than that... As for the assist pet macro, I made one for Skeram. Pets will stay on the right Skeram even though all the marks and such disappear, so it's very useful for picking the right target immediately if I spam the key with my pet on the real one prior to a split. Here's the macro: The first line assists your pet. The second line places a Triangle raid marker on the target selected. Adjust however you'd like. By the way, there's an API list if you're not sure what functions exist. I found the AssistUnit function through the list, so here's a link: http://vanilla-wow.wikia.com/wiki/World_of_Warcraft_API I hope that helps! :D

    Hunter Macros & Tips [Redux]

Uhh, I think I can come up with something like that, but you'll probably need more than 255 characters to make a macro like that. Here: http://vanilla-wow.wikia.com/wiki/World_of_Warcraft_API In the API listing, you can see a "UnitIsPlayer" function. The function in a script would look like this: /script class=UnitClass("target"); if UnitIsPlayer("target") and if ((class=="Rogue") or (class=="Warrior")) then CastSpellByName blah blah blah blah blah. You get the idea. I should warn you however that raid leaders will request that you DO NOT Serpent Sting because of debuff counters. It deals poor damage and wastes mana when you could be using more important things. Viper Sting does come in handy in places like AQ on the Obsidian Sphinx-type mobs, and some raids even mana drain The Prophet Skeram, but Serpent Sting? Nah, that's about as rare. Only in BWL on nature-vulnerable mobs, which is totally random, or on Emperor Vek'lor because debuff slots are halved due to the nature of the encounter, but you have better things to do on that fight anyway. About the Arcane Shot thing, he's right, Roxanne. Arcane Shot rank 1 is superior as a pull shot. It deals extremely insignificant threat which is important for certain pulls where you need the tank to be able to pull off you with a little Bloodrage and Shout. Rank 1 Distracting Shot will generate too much threat. And yes, Arcane Shot should not be used for damage unless you're SP build, but that's a PvP thing. I've tried it myself with the Zandalarian Hero Charm, it's pretty fun, but pardon me, I don't mean to get off topic. I have rank 1 Arcane Shot keep Auto Shot enabled because I always use it on the move, and I usually high-tail it outta there the moment my shot goes off. If I want to fire Auto Shot, I'll stop. If not, I'll do what I normally do and keep running. If I don't run, I'm dead. That's the way it goes. ...Well, Deterrence really helps on that, sure, but you get the idea. Running is what I SHOULD be doing, regardless of how well the rest of the raid can cover me or how long I can stall with dangerous elites trying to hit me. Once you get a mob back to your raid, you may as well have kept Auto Shot on so it resumes the moment you stop moving. If your tank cannot hold aggro over a hunter whose one Auto Shot was the first thing to fly out post-target acquisition, that's their problem. Not your's. And in all likelihood, the melee DPS are going to be busy eating skull alive long before you get in position. Edit: Oh, and don't worry about having my attention! I check the forums and my YouTube regularly in case of stuff I need to reply to. I usually reply and then go do stuff for another several hours at least before taking another quick look, soooo... any time you need something, drop it somewhere and I'll get around to it when I can. :)

    Hunter Macros & Tips [Redux]

Hi there ^^ In answer to your question about why Auto Shot has an enable script alongside other shots, such as Arcane Shot, this is because hitting the keybind for that ability will NOT turn on Auto Shot if the ability is on cooldown. It's a failsafe to ensure Auto Shot is enabled if you try to perform one shot, but forget that it's on CD. Not that someone should be using any ability other than Auto Shot at first under most circumstances. As for how to stop Auto Shot, there is no one-press solution, it seems. Thanks to @Moiz' suggestion for SpellStopCast, I checked it in-game, but unfortunately it didn't work when I put it after Arcane Shot. It simply stopped Arcane Shot's cast altogether. However, this here macro: Worked after two presses. The first press skipped over SpellStopCasting because nothing was being cast. Arcane Shot was fired, and Auto Shot was attempted. A second press stopped Auto Shot, and repeated presses continued to prevent anything until Arcane Shot was off cooldown. This is referred to as a "fall-through" macro. And I can see you've already tried it yourself, but I'm just confirming as a second tester. Being able to toggle it off with another press doesn't negate the appeal of this macro, though! You can fit it on one button for a more rapid toggle-off, and this especially comes in handy if you make use of certain scripts intended to prevent Auto Shot from ever turning off under any other conditions. Like I do! Perhaps some more context would be helpful. What would be the purpose of trying to toggle off Auto Shot, if you don't mind me asking? ^^

    Levelling Lupos when you're 60?

Hey there mate. I made a pet tutorial and in that pet tutorial there is some advice on nice grinding spots. See below: https://youtu.be/rw5ArtwO4h8?t=1253 You can also check my thread on the forums, "Hunter Macros & Tips [Redux]," for more info. Hope that helps. Good luck!
  10. Luna has worked well for me so far. Rhyna added a Multi-Shot timer and fixed up some existing errors with Aimed Shot. Perhaps that will work for you? He's also created a more advanced version of rais called Yet Another Hunter Timer, or YAHT. You can find that here: https://forum.elysium-project.org/topic/38332-addon-yaht-yet-another-hunter-timer/ Hope that helps. :D

    Aimed Shot macro?

Ah. I have Rais too, and wow, it's working for you? A lot of other people are reporting that the Aimed Shot cast bar ain't working. Anyway, I started using Luna Frames 'cause I got in touch with Rhyna, and he put in a Multi-Shot timer for me. :D It also has an Aimed Shot timer, and that's the one that doesn't reset. I think this is the version... https://github.com/Aviana/LunaUnitFrames/releases/tag/2200 If you're interested in checking it out. Otherwise, see if you can find the latest! Good luck. :)

    Aimed Shot macro?

Huh? I've never had Aimed Shot reset on me out of the blue. I know some addons can display the cast time resetting each time you press it, but that doesn't mean the cast time is resetting. Anyway, try this out: I'm not sure if I spam the button or not, it's muscle memory at this point, but I hopped on to check just now what happens if I do: Spamming the macro with my current setup didn't reset my addon's timer, nor did it reset Aimed Shot's cast time. If you're still having trouble, I might have another idea about what it might be...

    Ghost Saber - Hunters pet

I have nothing substantial to say. I will comment, however, that I got one to spawn on my second try on Anathema. Don't remember when, but it was after Elysium started Nost 1.0 back up. Also, Nepgear FTW. c:

    Best alliance race for hunter?

And rogues shouldn't be much of a problem for hunters anyway, so... I always considered Stoneform just to deal with rogues a poor reason on its own. Stoneform is nice, but it's not nice because rogues are less effective. Could counter it pretty easily too as a rogue if you know anything about your class. Force Stoneform, if they don't pop it go back to stealth normally, if they do vanish and come back in a few. Stealth, however, is a wild card... it's much harder to account for, for any class.

    Hunter Macros & Tips [Redux]

Hey, I'm not lazy! I just raid-log, slack on consumables and world buffs, and don't use any of the tools I developed for more efficient hunter gameplay. kappa ...On a related note, I'm working on an AQ40 tutorial for my guild at the moment. I have a few unlisted tutorials just meant for specific people or groups, and this one is meant to help out some new recruits with figuring stuff out sooner. Not that it's getting done any faster than the next dungeon video or tutorial though... urgh. I wish it were all freakin' done already... I'd also like to get the Mara Redux tutorial done, but you know. Slowbie here.

    Hunter Macros & Tips [Redux]

Hi! It seems the problem you're running into is that the Hunter's Mark cast overwrites your Auto Shot. I REALLY wouldn't recommend using a lazy macro for all three of these functions unless you're, like, on the PvE server and leveling up purely by AFK auto-shooting. You won't improve your skills with a macro like this! Nevertheless, if you want it fixed, try this instead. I tested this in-game just now on Anathema and it works for me. First, get this addon: https://github.com/shirsig/notoggle This will enable you to use the simple "/cast Auto Shot" command instead of the no-repeat script typically used. The fixed macro can then be used. Here: The first line will apply Hunter's Mark if it's not up already. The second line will send the pet to attack, and the third will cast Auto Shot. It will not toggle Auto Shot off if spammed, provided you have that addon. Once you have the macro done up, simply hit it twice and it'll perform all its functions. If you do not have a target, hit the macro three times while first facing the target you intend to strike. Like I said, this is a lazy macro. Suitable for AFK farming, but not if you want to learn something while you level up. I'd recommend instead microing your pet's attacks on their own, applying and refreshing Hunter's Mark on specific targets as needed, and using Auto Shot on its own key. Should you go into raids with a macro like this, you'll drastically reduce your efficiency, and in PvP, the GCD Hunter's Mark triggers each time it's applied could get you killed. Practice makes perfect, and there's no better time to start practicing than early on! Hope that helps. Good luck. Edit: Hmph, it seems it still spams Hunter's Mark, but at least my Auto Shot is going off now... apologies, but I can't take more than a cursory glance at the script right now. It should work perfectly fine if you spam it two or three times for each target, but don't keep spamming it. Perhaps someone else can fix it up better so it works as intended. I hope it helps anyway; good luck!

    Beast o' Melee Hunter (13/0/38)

Right-o. For a dedicated raider or PvPer who doesn't swap pets very often, I suppose it's less of a problem. I tend to focus only on raiding at the moment, so... yeah. Been months since I touched that macro.

    Beast o' Melee Hunter (13/0/38)

Dash and Dive are both four characters, so I simply edit the macro if I change pets. I don't have room for two macros, one with Dash and one with Dive. I edit macros all the time. My outfitter macro needs to swap to the full T1 set or full T2 set depending on which I have on me, I sometimes set the Multi-Shot to prioritize rank 1, stuff like that. ...Since a pet can't have Dash AND Dive, and since it's not like a hunter usually swaps pets, like, all the time, I figured it wouldn't be TOO much of a hassle. :)

    Hunter leveling BiS weapons

Yep. My friend's leveling as MM / Surv for lulz and decided to pick that up. He's not really decked out in agility gear, but his Aimed Shot still crit for over 500 with it at minimum level. Pretty cool. If you want to take it a step further, two Cruel Barbs with +15 agility on them could last until level 60 (for dealing ranged damage, at least), so they're quite a worthy investment. For perspective on how powerful those are... they offer a total of +84 attack power and, at level 60, .57% crit. Below 60, the +15 agil x2 will give significantly more crit. A popular and easy to acquire near-BiS MM DW combination at 60 is Warblade of the Hakkari MH and Fang of the Faceless. With +15 agil on each, their total AP comes out to 116, and crit chance, 2.57%. Cruel Barbs with +15 agil x2, while leveling, actually compare. Pretty nuts, huh? +15 agil is expensive and picking up two Cruel Barbs will probably take a few runs, so... I say this more as a point of interest rather than actually suggesting you go ahead and go through all that trouble, unless of course your intent is to go all out. :) My friend's an avid AH player and can actually afford it at his low level, but it's more plausible if your hunter is an alt. The Crystalpine Stinger, on the other hand, shouldn't be too expensive at all. A Sniper Scope is also much easier to acquire than Weapon - Agility x2. Hope that helps. Have fun! ^^

    Best alliance race for hunter?

Nelves have more base agility. Shadowmeld can be used in combat situations thanks to Feign Death on a hunter, and hunters don't have stealth by default, so the racial becomes especially useful on this class. Can juke people with shadowmelds and invisibility potions. Shadowmeld is also perfectly suited to a hunter's toolkit because hunters have great burst damage. I've picked off red team healers from their backline by just shadowmelding 'til they get past me. :D You can also Hunter's Mark and adjust tracking from Shadowmeld, and your first Auto Shot can be used from Shadowmeld. It has a lot of practical uses. And, it's a lot of fun! The nature resistance racial can go to better use than the frost resistance one for raiding. I have 315 NR (cap) and 9% hit in my NR set, and I didn't have to buy a 22 NR ring, or two 21 NR rings, and get the 8 NR neck from, uhh... Silithus quests. I still wear my PToC. There are a few reasons I wouldn't recommend dwarf for hunter. The gun racial is practically useless because there are no guns at endgame, aside from LotGW, that are BiS. LotGW is still second place to ACoS. Sure, you might be able to get +7 damage on it instead of +3% hit since it gives you hit, but that's not really a big deal. The Stoneform racial may seem really appealing for PvP, and it's true it's a great racial, but rogues and warriors are not classes you are likely to have trouble with as a hunter, at least not in 1v1 or 1v2. Below level 30 it's fantastic, but then once you're over 30, you get Feign Death + Freezing Trap. You can just walk away from melee classes after trapping them, easy peasy. The area Stoneform really comes in handy is if you're holding a position or in the middle of an all-out, but you can function just fine in an all-out from the back line, shooting clothies, and you can hold a position as a night elf just fine, and that's made easier with Shadowmeld too. Element of surprise and all that. While you might miss an easy way out of Blind as a night elf, there are lots more opportunities to do cool stuff with Shadowmeld, especially if you get creative. Juking people has saved my ass more times than I can count, and there's nothing quite like overwhelming some unsuspecting Hordies by making an appearance when they least expect it. I strongly recommend night elf as the superior race for huntering on the Alliance. Edit: My apologies, there's more I can say about PvE. I was too busy to offer a full reply earlier ^^ Allow me to rectify that. See below for extended comments: As always, if you need anything else, just hit me up. I love helping out :D

    Beast o' Melee Hunter (13/0/38)

I've tanked Sunken Temple before, but that was on Kronos, with the Ravager. It might be possible with this spec. Who knows?

    Beast o' Melee Hunter (13/0/38)

Just for the record, the Ravager is much more niche on Anathema. I dunno about Darrowshire or Elysium. Wouldn't recommend trying to tanking with it. It's not like it was on Kronos. There's a comment I placed on the Ravager vid that addresses the differences between Kronos and Anathema.

    Beast o' Melee Hunter (13/0/38)

Video tutorial pls :D Hehe. Not that I didn't read what you said! This all sounds really interesting. :) It would be quite helpful if you were to put this visually, I say. Also, umm... I use that stay macro all the time for bosses with melee-out spots. On Chromaggus, just around the corner from the tank spot... Firemaw, in the melee spot, which is closer than the ranged spot... Ragnaros, the melee spot for knockbacks right next to him... Eyes of the Beast always puts your pet on follow, but there's no need to use that. Just set your pet to stay at one location, send pet in on mobs, hit stay when mobs are aggro'd. I use this all the time for pulling Vekniss Guardian packs with my wind serpent in AQ40 ^^ I plan to make a raid tutorial at some point going over the three best raiding pets, among other things. When I start making vids again...
