Is there a retail video from 2004-2006 where you see this behavior? I have never been mindcontrolled out of a bg before playing on Elysium. Or were people in retail just less crackbrained? Anyway. Its harassment and disgusting. Just stop wasting valueable life time with Warsong ;)

Sometimes, it helps to analyse other projects to determine the impact of actions. Creating new servers, merging servers and going to new expansions has all been done on Feenix. This video summarizes it to the point: That doesn't mean that a merge wouldn't be a good solution. It's just important to notice that a lot of things can go wrong and the goal is to prevent that. My thesis: At the moment you have 3 servers with different progression status and that is comparable to 3 servers with different expansions. Nobody would argue that merging a vanilla, a tbc and a wotlk server would be a good idea. But why do so many people want a merge of anathema, elysium (and even darrowshire, some ask for that)? My guess for the best solution: Wait until all realms are at the same point of progression and then merge them. That point will happen naturally after Naxx is released on Elysium at last or it can be forced before. You could stop progression on Anathema and merge it after Elysium reaches 1.10. But solutions that try to reverse anything achieved on Anathema sound tremendously complicated and unrealistic. There is still the question if Darrowshire should stay seperated due to the PvE status. I left the server a while ago, but I can observe the numbers during the course of a day and they are only a shadow of the past. There is a solution, which is custom and not blizzlike. But since there are so many custom changes already, why not do that one. Back to Basics, a german tbc realm, uses a system called PvX which forces your to pick PvE or PvP for your account and then play with that - all on the same realm. Wouldn't that be awesome? One big realm that makes everyone happy in the end? :p

There is no correct armor cap on this version of Mangos. 75% is misinformation.

I want to collect proofs and examples about how buff/debuff strength and their influence on buff/debuff overwriting is working in Vanilla WoW, so that we can report it in the bug tracker in the most accurate way possible. Problem: The strength of a buff should be taken into consideration by the server to decide if a buff (and in some cases debuff) can overwrite another buff/debuff. The corresponding error message for the players client is "A more powerful spell is already active". Example (1): Rank 2 Mark of the Wild can overwrite Rank 1 Mark of the Wild, but Rank 1 Mark of the Wild can not overwrite Rank 2 Mark of the Wild. Example (2): Rank 2 Mark of the Wild (with 5/5 talent points spent in Improved Mark of the Wild) can overwrite Rank 2 (unskilled) Mark of the Wild, but Rank 2 (unskilled) Mark of the Wild can not overwrite Rank 2 (skilled) Mark of the Wild. Example (3): Rank 5 Rejuvenation with +500 addheal (all healing talents skilled) can overwrite Rank 5 Rejuvenation with +0 addheal (all healing talents skilled) but Rank 5 Rejuvenation with +0 addheal can not overwrite Rank 5 Rejuvenation with +500 addheal. Example (4): Wing Clip (60% movement speed reduction) can overwrite Concussive Shot (50% movement speed reduction) but Concussive Shot can not overwrite Wing Clip. These mechanics are not working on Elysium in all cases, therefore correct buff/debuff overwriting is not working in all cases. You can often just overwrite a buff, which is tested for examples (1), (2) and (3), although some buffs/debuffs are working correctly (for example last Rank Demoralizing Roar can not overwrite max rank Demoralizing Shout, but I am not sure about the skilled/unskilled versions and lower rank behaviour). I can not test Wing Clip and Concussive Shot at the moment, too. Example (1) could be replaced with any other class buff, like Power Word: Fortitude, Arcane Intellect, Paladin buffs and so on. Example (2) could be replaced with improved versions of any other class buff that you can improve with talents, like Improved Power Word: Fortitude or improved Paladin buffs. Example (3) could be replaced with other HoTs or healing based buffs, like Renew, Power Word: Shield or Tranquility. (note: I am not sure about Regrowth and Priest's Greater Healing with 8/8 T2, I guess they can be cast when the target has a stronger version of the HoT component, but that HoT component is not overwritten) Example (4) could be replaced with other debuffs (but not DoTs), like Sunder Armor or Expose Armor. So, why is this important? At the moment, you can buff a player with Rank 1 of a buff (for example Mark of the Wild), even if he had the max rank. Instead of getting the error message, the other player can just overwrite it. That should not be possible. Another problem are HoTs. The Priest/Druid with the highest +heal and healing talents skilled should always have priority, other players (and hybrid or offspec healers) should face the error message from time to time, when they try to overwrite (on purpose or not) a stronger Renew or Rejuvenation. I hope you can help me with finding proofs. Feel free to comment on my examples and improve/correct them with your own formulations. If you find video proofs, then please share them! Links/Sources so far Short discussion about HoTs in the elysium forum that started my interest in the topic. Therebirth, a server that has been shut down, implemented correct buff overwriting, but the old forum is deleted sadly. Their actual forum is empty regarding that fix. We could try to contact Andkem, their main developer, and try to ask him about his fix. note: many mechanics (like dynamic buff/debuff calculation) did not exist in classic, but "A more powerful spell is already active" did exsist. Therefore I can post these Wrath of the Lichking PvP Videos, that show the behaviour of the error message and buff/debuff overwriting. The source of this report can be found here. The mechanic and error message is mentioned in the patch notes of Patch 1.6.0 There are many complex rules, exceptions and other problems that make it almost impossible to restore everything to blizzlike. Take the behaviour of Shadowmeld and Rogue Stealth for example. There are some insights regarding debuff overwriting in this old post.

I deleted my char now. 70 days of /played. Sorry but I don't want to deal with the direction of the project anymore ^^

oh wait, I have another one. Implement a level stop feature so that the 19 twink bracket is supported! And reduce life of all bosses by 1/3 so that casual guilds can see everything in AQ/Naxx. What about portals to all major cities? It has all been demanded by the WoW community in the past and is implemented in retail WoW. And thats why it is actually shit today. Keep the 50 gold respec limited so that talent distribution actually is as important as it should be and don't give hybrid classes such a big bonus. AND THAT COMES FROM A HYBRID CLASS PLAYER WHO WOULD LARGELY BENEFIT FROM YOUR CUSTOM FUN SERVER CHANGE xD
-
Or let us buy gold, that would support PvPers who don't want to do anything outside of bgs.
-
The madness about this change is that it's a PvP change that heavily affects PvE. I shit on PvP in WoW, why should I know about that thread to give feedback about a potential PvE change (thanks for linking though). Most people do PvP only for items anyway. AV as horde hurts my brain, it's that bad balanced. Why do you have to make a change that degrades Elysium to a fun server project, just to support a very very very VERY insignificant part of classic WoW. TBC actually started to increase the (e-sport) PvP aspect of the game with the arena, but in all honor, they have never actually succeeded to be a big topic in e-sport because WoW has never been a game centered around PvP in the first place. bleh
-
25gold cap is horrible... is this the beginning of the end? Where is the feedback that lead to 25 gold respec cost?! I have never read anything about that shit being demanded. This is a huge step towards fun server. As a druid, 25 gold difference (or 50 gold actually, since you respec 2 times when changing specs back and forth) makes a huge difference in decisions about how to spec. This makes hybrid specs a lot more obsolete... urgh urgh urgh!

Discussion: "A more powerful spell is already active" and how it should be implemented for the Elysium core
Mahtan replied to Mahtan's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
I constantly fail to find out when the error message was introduced for HoTs and buffs. I guess it is in the hands of better researchers to deal with that work. Regarding "a more powerful spell is already active": It works for different ranks of HoTs on Elysium servers. So I can't override rank 2 Renew/Rejuvenation with rank 1. Is that working as intended? If yes, then please introduce the same behaviour for buffs, too. The mechanic should be implemented consistently :p -
The only solution for the Anathema and servers
Mahtan replied to xploit's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
well said! my suggestion: Just let the remaining 3 realms finish their timeline, then merge the pvp realms and then start a new pve and a new pvp realm, which can be merged into the old realms after finishing their timeline. This could be repeated forever. It would be a technical challenge for sure. But merging all servers into one now causes more problems than it solves and will not stop the decline. The things that increase population on the long term are: advertisement, new realms and winter :D Therefore I advice to start a new (advertised) ladder realm every 1-2 winter, after finishing the timeline of the other servers. -

And what do you want to do? Merge it with Kronos maybe? edit: http://vanillaradar.com/elysium-stats/darrowshire/ Advertising and positive impulses like supporting people instead of raidlogging helps. Suggestions like "merge it with Anathema" do not help. -

Whatever. But fucking stop talking about Darrowshire. Darrowshire is a wonderful server and you fools would ruin the only viable PvE vanilla realm, that's for sure! >.< -
Discussion: "A more powerful spell is already active" and how it should be implemented for the Elysium core
Mahtan replied to Mahtan's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
yeah, that's why classic guides mention, that the Priest/Druid with the highest +heal keeps HoTs up, the other healers were not able to override it. TBC made that obsolete, different players were able to stack their HoTs. What remained was that if you activated a trinket with +heal for a HoT and then tried to override it without the trinket +heal effect, then the message appeared. I raided as a noob Priest in retail MC and was annoyed that my Renew did not work for MTs most of the time (I collected 8/8 T0 and ignored +heal). -

Rebirth had less custom changes than Elysium... I posted a bunch of examples where the error frame is mentioned, like the 1.6 patch notes. I can't find any evidence that the mechanic was introduced with TBC. -
Policy on Bans and Temporary Bans
Mahtan replied to Ekaterin's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
As far as I am concerned, GMs do not tell people the reason of a ban. Therefore I can not understand, in which way a process of education is granted. Instead, it is highly likely that people are confused and irritated and worst case abandon the server. I know people who were banned and did not know the reason. Sorry to be so rude... But the paranoid flamings that occur from time to time regarding unfair GM decisions have some kind of foundation. I advertise more transparency to negate this foundation. -

I guess Biggons is the haunted ghost of Alexensual. Lets call the Ghostbusters! -
Isn't this funny? (Yes, a clickbait title)
Mahtan replied to Oakenlix's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
It should be said though, that the GMs reacted very calm and sober. So the whole story should show us, that they take all of us seriously. Even the "lying pieces of shit" ;) -
After 3 appeal declined - Anathema - Horde - Mage - Laiy
Mahtan replied to Laiy's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Sorry for being offtopic... but a little bit more transparency regarding ban reasoning and decision making in terms of GM actions would be appreciated. Your current systems doesn't provide players actual cases of exploiting, concrete information is quite difficult to obtain. It's not without reason that real life judicature is very transparent in most western countries. It would help people to recognize when something is exploited. I would argue that negative effects of explaining exploits and ban reasons are far less impactful than the positive effects like awareness of people. Edit: Take Mandokir exploit as an example. You can use the ziggurat to fight Mandokir and evade the Raptor. Blizzard has not banned people for doing that (I did not find any evidence that they did, I could be wrong of course), but they designed later bosses in TBC without such buildings, instead most boss rooms are flat now. This exploit leads to a 3 day ban on Elysium, but the information is not obtainable in this forum. Even worse... It is stated by a player that a similar strategy (fighting Mandokir and Raptor, but avoiding charge mechanic with the ziggurat) would be allowed. Very confusing for an average player... Transparent ban explanations would help with that. -
After 3 appeal declined - Anathema - Horde - Mage - Laiy
Mahtan replied to Laiy's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
I have absolutely no idea what a "known goldseller" ingame is. Seriously. If a player is a known goldseller, then the person is most likely already banned. So in all respect... How can I identify that I interact with a "known goldseller"? The only thing that I can identify are the gold farming bots and gold selling spam in /whisper or /general. Everything else is hidden for me :P -
Roleplayers are quite rare on Darrowshire horde, I guess alliance side is a little bit better due to the more popular races and lore. I hope you find some people ingame who are interested. You can do roleplay during your dungeon runs (not too much, but decent messages and hints) and hope that you find similar minded roleplayers. It worked for me on Nostalrius PvE, I even was in a roleplay guild during leveling (which had the very decent name <Horde RP> *lol*). Another option are the server related subforums. https://forum.elysium-project.org/forum/409-elysium-pvp/ You can search for a RP guild in the guild subforum, search for events in the general subforum and everything RP is in the RP subforum. Good luck!

lol, classic Nelythia. Do you have any insight regarding this complex case or did you just want to start the witch hunt? I guess the thread will be deleted anyway and I have no clue about the truth. But I know a bunch of people on Darrowshire horde with an obscene amount of accounts and gold and it would make me nervous in their position if - even after three ban appeals - an innocent victim of the gold trade detection mechanisms is still banned permanently... -
