  1. are the chinese afraid to lose customers&victims if elysium loses players?
  2. probably for credits, the fame. maybe hes afraid anybody else with the same code could treat the players better, thus get the players. for DEVs, it can be disadvantageous if they currently profit from the "monopol" they have, either by money or reputation/"fame". because if it was open source, the projects with the best behaviour, attitude and vision - service - will succeed, theres no longer a monopol controlled by a few that can be abused. for players, making as much code public as possible is only beneficial.
  3. this also is a totally retarded assumption. if every server had equally good code, the one with the least money grab and best staff/service would obviously take the lead. infact, it would eleminate money grab/cash shops as they could no longer compete if theyre having those. and since projects with corrupt GMs and stuff would also simply lose players to projects that do not have such people in their lead, those ppl would also just disappear. or at least become less likely. its only the DEVs ego and fear there could be ppl that offer a better service than they do that is blocking an open source movement
  4. hosting private wow servers is not legal anyway, so why would it matter making the code public? it would just make it impossible for blizzard to stop it since sueing one or another project would have 0 effect
  5. i absolutely agree. for the sake of vanilla servers quality and for every single player, it would be the best if the code was made public. it would be nice if every project would share its code and fixes and stop protecting it like its their product, trademark. the devs have to understand that all they are doing is based on someones else code. partially blizzards, partially mangos, etc. so every def already profits from others code that was made public. its a shame if those that profit from others code so much now try to protect every single fix and improvement they make like their child, they locked in their basement. its about time to change your state of mind and work together with others. if some try to make money out of it with cash shops - so shall it be. the players will chose what server they want to play on and what community they want to be part of. in the end, the best staff team will convince the players and succeed. thats why i do not only want to encourage elysium to share its code, but every private wow project, to truely bring the old wow back to life.
  6. i dont see how offering your account for sale is violating the ToU. whats illegal is the process of sale. so if you were smart, you wouldve handled this secretly with the GMs untill the account was actually sold further, its pretty easy to fake such character sale threads.

    Can someone explain?

is alexsensual being paid by twinstar/kronos?
  8. all this crestfall talk. did they even release anything but promises?
  9. posting images in conversations is always funny, but dont make your points any more valid. a (white) sheep btw is rather related to your behaviour, as it is way more popular to hate nostalrius nowadays. a picture with a black sheep or a black sheep within a herd of white sheeps wouldve been more accurate and woulve hurt my feelings even more. however, im done with you.
  10. o yea, i will for sure read that crap again because your argument was proven invalid. if you want to believe nosts core is "a piece of shit" you are just an ungrateful hater, and if you think their success was only due to its "early" release, youre an ungrateful, disenchanted hater

  12. some say ppl just join the newest server all the time because of the hype, to explain why a new server is more popular than older ones. others, like TheHappyCatsTail, argue established servers are superior, so new servers have no chance to build a population. its funny how 2 opposing arguments are being used to prove the same thing. nice little worlds you build yourself, lul
  13. "nostalrius was the first vanilla wow server." TheHappyCatsTail 2017
  14. and how did they get the numbers? because their core was a piece of shit?:) stop being a hater...
  15. thats what kronos has also claimed, then they could barely hold 4k ppl without lagging. crashing. being down for weeks. having terrible pathing. just stop bitchin
  16. this forum needs a "i got banned unrightfully" section, id read it everytime im sad and need something to laugh
  17. just ban both. better save than sorry
  18. or NPCs being escorted going totally mad. they obviously didnt fix it all, but they fixed a lot. especially if you take into account how the population increased over 1 year, set a 2nd PvE server up, got a lot of ddos and all the adjustments & improvements they had to implement meanwhile, they just did a brilliant job during this 1 year
  19. im aware of this. the problem for ppl that played a lot on nost is that nost acted quite similiar like blizzard did. it felt like they just sit around 24/7 working on every single bug. its been a different dev/GM behaviour, different obsession, different quality. elysiums staff is not doing bad for private-server standards, but imo its hard to satisfly those that were used to nost because they set the bar very high. and it starts with this emo-themed forum here and a horrible designed main page
  20. ofc there are ppl that complain about bugs at every game and every community. but why would this even matter? what makes the difference is the staff and the way they handle complaints and the way they handle the bugs. OP did also not only complain about the bugs, but about the time elysium/valkyrie requires to fix them.
  21. 1st post: "Three weeks after release of nostralius I found this bugged vein in Silithus" 2nd post: "2) "Pirate server" stigma? wtf is this bullshit, u can only have "pirate server" stigma if there are shit ton of bugged, personal info stealing servers that hurt the scene" 3rd post: "So... i dont know if i should complete another quest before or maybe its bugged or something (i dont think so)." so 1 of 3 was a bug complaint. and this 1 refers to 3 weeks after the server released. so the 5170 post are pretty much nonsense. however, nost was pretty bugged in the beginning and ppl will always find something to complain about. but nost improved very fast, thats what makes the difference here and elysium got a huge boost from nost. they wouldve never gotten what theyve got now on their own
