Should I roll alliance or horde for PvE / PvP
Gnog posted a topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Sorry for asking what is probably a common question, but I'm having trouble getting a good understanding of the current PvP scene just by reading the existing posts. Most of them are related to specific guilds or people or events that I don't know, and as an outsider it's all very hard to follow. I would like to do a healthy mix of PvE and PvP. I can play enough to do progression raiding and would like to do both world and BG PvP, including some PvP honor ranking. Would appreciate your thoughts of which side to choose and why. Thanks a lot. -
Should I roll alliance or horde for PvE / PvP
Gnog replied to Gnog's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Since you've reanimated this thread, I'll note that I'm level 45 now, still sticking w the gnome. I've been taking my time. It's been a blast so far, and, as one noted, I tank fine in a PvP spec at this level. But holy shit, the ganking is real. I don't bother trying to do quests in popular zones. I just go there when I need some PvP. That makes things much more livable, leveling as alliance. -
It's a great idea. Blizzlike is not knowing what the war effort requires until it begins. Maybe it's battle chickens. Incidentally, I'm selling battle chickens. See my Marketplace listing.

Spaz, you're missing the bigger point here. The nerf game is a slippery slope that can easily get out of hand, disappoint reasonable expectations, and lead to an endless call for additional tuning. You need to just learn how to deal with this racial. If your problem is with 1v1, then stop playing alone, or become an engineer, or carry pots, or do any of the other things that help in 1v1. If your problem is with many v many, a single fear resist isn't thaaaat big of a deal. Oh, and dwarf priests, hello?

This thread is disheartening to me, as an alliance player. I'm level 45 now, but I wonder what's the point of leveling to 60 for PvP if the entire Horde side has thrown in the towel. Is there any basis to the OP? If I want a challenge in PvP, do I have to reroll Horde? Lame.

If someone told you it's hard to level a hunter, you should disregard everything that person said about Vanilla. Every class is viable in Vanilla for different things. And no class can do everything. So do some real research before you invest a lot of time in a class. Or, if you want meaningful feedback, describe in detail the play style you like. Then you might be able to get some useful information specific to you.

Do you keep PVP gear if you lose rank
Gnog replied to Deadbones's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
You've always been able to keep wearing the gear. Or, at a minimum, the ability to keep wearing the gear was in place when AV was released, which is a matter of one month away on the Elysium timeline. -
Does anyone have good data on BG queue times for level 60 division on alliance / horse sides? I'm trying to decide whether to re-roll horde but if the BG queue times are atrocious I'll just stay alliance. NA playtime. Couldn't find this data. Thanks.

You also then have to develop audit procedures and hope that there was no human error made in reviewing tens or hundreds of thousands of data entries. Then you have to deal with the rumors about those three guys who were missed in the audit. Human error or corruption? Then you have to deal with the people who were wrongly identified as having exploited something. Have fun with all of that.

Thank you, devs. Anyone who's experienced in MMOs knows that an event like this, if not corrected quickly and convincingly, can lead to a loss of faith in the integrity of the game. The rollback, which ensures complete correction and involves no discretion, keeps the faith and is obviously the right decision.

Thanks. Yea, to Some1's point, I would level faster but I'm having too much fun getting ganked. I play this mini-game of sorts where I time my runs as a ghost from various spirit healers. I keep a spreadsheet and everything. It's arguably more fun than leveling.

Is this still true? The last couple of days, there seem to have been very few Level60 WSG games going. I thought maybe the horde had just stopped queueing in total submission. Also, the idea of putting a faction limit on transfers seems totally insane. Where do you expect those players to go--a PvE server or a PvP server that's way ahead in progression and on a different timeline? I'm surprised anyone could make this argument with a straight face.

Travel in groups. BG in premades. This is not a single player MMO. If you're playing it that way, you're doing it wrong, and you have only yourself to blame.

Horde + fire elemental quests = impossible
Gnog replied to Honey's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
You could just buy the fire crests in the AH. They are inexpensive precisely due to the farming you're complaining about here. -
Killerduki's logic is pretty good. If I'm level 56-60 and not in BiS, do I do group content for those BiS items, or do I farm gold to save for the next GDKP raid? By farming gold, I probably get into MC gear faster than going through a gradual progression of group content. So instead of grouping with others in BRD, LBRS, DM, and the like, I grind gold alone a few hours a day. And so do most other 56-60 who are looking to get into MC gear. The group game (which seems very strong right now) starts to die out, the community bonds weaken, and people leave the server because it feels so much like retail. Yeah, seems pretty plausible actually. Elysium doesn't allow boxing for various reasons, including, presumably, that boxing makes a single person so self-sufficient that they needn't group with others, which gradually degrades the community. The same logic seems to weigh in favor of disallowing gdkp raids. Those items are flagged as No Drop for a reason, after all. GDKP is just a mechanism for circumventing that flag.

Which bracket and faction for twinking?
Gnog replied to Cucksupreme's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Level 39 has been pretty active on Elysium. Very short Q times for alliance. -
Stop Premades or Enable Double Que

What is stopping the horde from forming well balanced raids in general chat? These kinds of messages go out in Ironforge all the time. -

I got killed yesterday too. It was very sad and I quit the game. Now I play metroid. -
anyone else getting sick of this poopytoots?
Gnog replied to jimmbo506's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Damn, I rolled alliance thinking it would be more fun and faster queues in BG. Is there really no competition on the horde side? Did I choose the wrong faction! -
Should I roll alliance or horde for PvE / PvP
Gnog replied to Gnog's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
So I am level 30 now (gnome warrior). I've gone protection spec for leveling because I hate questing and will probably just grind dungeons most of the way. When I hit level 60, how hard will it be to find a PvP-focused guild as a warrior? I'd like to mostly play BGs in premade and do world PvP. If I'm setting myself up for disappointment (like if warriors are in way oversupply for PvP or whatever) it would be nice to know now, before I invest too much more in the character. There are other classes I'm willing to play. Thanks! -
This is kind of amazing.

Should I roll alliance or horde for PvE / PvP
Gnog replied to Gnog's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Thanks very much for the responses. I rolled a gnome warrior. I figured that I don't mind getting ganked in open world if it means I'll be able to find World and BG PvP when I want it. I also figured that I should be able to find a guild as a fury warrior, when the time for that comes. It's been a long time since I played Vanilla, and I don't know the server well. Do ya'll have any further comments specific to my selection of gnome warrior? If gnome war is a bad decision (either due to PvP / PvE / leveling / getting a guild) it'd be great to know now and not after I level to 50+. My other inclination was gnome mage. I decided against mage because I am worried I wouldn't get into a guild at L60 and because I remember liking to PvP as a warrior a bit more. Thanks again.
