    Paladin Threat Generation

The OP has been updated with a few changes including some info about Thunderfury. I don't know if the server is changing Thunderfury according to the constant changes made by blizzard.

    Prot Enchant/Libram Discussion

What I'm trying to say is that with redoubt and holy shield together you can be avoidance capped rather easily. This would guarentee that the next 4 hits would be either fully avoided or blocked leaving no room for crushing blows. Though now that I'm thinking about it, trading 100% of a swing for only a 2% chance of breaking even doesn't sound even remotely like a good idea. For the record: .3% for 3 in a row and .05% chance for 4 in a row. Also is there a hard cap on defense?

The problem is that you are comparing druids to rogues. They aren't even the same thing let alone having abilities you can't compare with side by side. You can't even compare them in a duel because whoever gets the drop first wins, period. Well, that's only if the druid is in cat or caster form. You can open in bear with nature's grasp and when the Rogue attacks he is rooted you FF him run HoT/ heal stealth and then open yourself. Rogues without vanish are dead men walking when they can't run away.

    Prot Enchant/Libram Discussion

I have a question. Would forcing a crit by sitting for redoubt be a valuable trade as you can only be crit the once and you could be immune to crushing blows as long as Holy Shield is active? I would think it would be as it makes the incoming damage more predictable and controlled.

    Demo not viable?

You are using a pet. The succubus has an attack ability that does shadow damage and therefore eats Imp. Shadow Bolt. You can't get Ruin if you pick up soul link. You miss out on imp life tap and suppression. Otherwise, if you skip soul link to pick up ruin and keep your succubus alive with lash of pain off of auto you can get very close in damage to DS/ruin builds. It is an "if" though so you would need to get lucky, attentive healers, or know the fights to keep your pet alive without disrupting your rotation of SB spam. That and you not being a debuffer would help. I hope this helps you as I am not an expert warlock.

You do realize paladins can Seal twist on this server right? Extra damage through SoRighteousness or SoJustice disrupting stuns. That can be a lot of damage or highly annoying to those casters. But really, who is going to think that a paladin can and will reck (hehe punny) face when played well? Extra surprising no? Either way, as a paladin your primary role will never be just damage as you have amazing support capabilities that are unique and highly effective.

SS(Sweeping Strikes) + Whirlwind or Cleave

Does SS proc with only 2 targets and you use cleave? If yes, use whirlwind anyways because it doesn't steal the rage from your next hit. Only use cleave if you have rage to burn and Whirlwind is on cooldown. It's great in pvp if you can use both especially if you can slam a mortal strike in there too. If you get lucky with an extra swing you will hit 2 targets 4 times on one and 5 on the other in 1.5 seconds. Major stress on any healer.

Enchants don't scale. If you want a scaling damage weapon proc, get a lifesteal weapon (not the enchant).

    Need help finding proof

Divine Shield is supposed to prevent all damage, including that of drowning and fatigue. Currently, Elysium doesn't have that functionality and the guys on github want evidence that it worked that way in vanilla. I know we all know this is how it worked since the beginning of time, but the powers that be don't care that the spell was never changed until a few expansions in to have a shorter duration. That means some sort of proof or evidence is needed to prove something that was always there.

He was referring to my post just above his in which I broke the math down. Assuming the exact same gear between the warders, it is just drastically impossible for it to work without the second JotC being there and having an effect. At the very minimum, the paladin already had roughly 240 spell damage. If on the second warder JotC didn't stack, the paladin would have had to equip another 200 spell damage to get to the numbers that were so high even with the trinket. Considering that he was using Tier 1 for the most visible slots, that cuts down on what was available to switch out. Look at the combat log of the second warder and you can see that the judgement debuff gets applied like 20 times. That leads me to believe that debuffs weren't just refreshed, but consistently being overwritten by new ones even though there was no actual overwrite. That could be a probable cause for the visual problem. Also, where is the 78 damage tick from? Was it from the other paladins? If it was during the second warden, 75% of 104 is 78. Something I learned from watching the logs is that Consecration "afflicts" the target before doing damage. Probably insignificant, but was interesting to me. One last thing, If the video was from the Pre-TBC patch PTR those combat logs are incredibly bare of crusader strike. It is more likely a PTR before that point.

Ferals have great control. if you get caught in the wrong form you are playing wrong or in group pvp, possibly ambushed while questing. Opener stun, bash stun, charge root, short cooldown root, casted root, can prevent rogue vanish, slow/ root removal, abolish poison, curse removal, can do damage up close or at a distance. As long as you don't die in an ambush you have a lot of tools available that help you deal with many situations. Its a whole toolkit. Anything with a cooldown longer than 5 mins is really just a gimmick and can prove unreliable. Heck, one tried to mind control me only to help me kill his partner when it backfired. I then healed and took him out as it gave me time to setup. rogue CC - sap, opener stun, combo stun, slow poison, random stun if specced, conditional disarm, and distract. Not much flexibility in comparison. Can focus great though.

    Class with highest ceiling? PvP

    1) Rogue - Setup is everything. You mess up and you have one escape that may or may not work. 2) Druid - Requires setup but is more forgiving of mistakes as long as you learn the whole toolkit which contains 4 different playstyles you have to juggle to maximize your effectiveness and master. Bane of all rogues. Definitely the most complex. 3) Hunter/Warlock/mage - Easy to play, but learning to control situations is where the greats separate from the pack. 4) Shaman - Offensive support and damage that can take getting used to to separate from the windfury bros. 5) Paladin - Defensive support that can easily take a beating. Has a suite of useful utilities and support/damage capabilities that can take skill to apply in the right situations at the right time especially when you need to be proactive. 6) Priest - bubble, heal, bubble, heal, scream, bubble, heal. Pretty straight forward from a gameplay standpoint, but still has nuance to uncover. 7) Warrior - charge, explode in glorious death or with a healer leave a bloody trail of dismembered bodies behind you. Only challenge is to stick to a healer, learning how to peel enemies from allies, and learning that the priest bubble is the source of your deepest hatred (no rage, no crits except for bleed over; one of the nuances mentioned for priests)

    Level 40 gold help!

To be fair, mages were a popular class to begin with. Which means there is just a ton of information already out there. Other than bugs and the occasional question there isn't much to talk about other than: https://www.youtube.com/embed/2z29Rk8814w

My rough guess is that the paladin had between 275-280 spell damage with a rank 5 JotC up on the first warder. Interestingly enough, my math seems to support that the rank 5 was also missing the Libram of fervor. Its hard to know for certain exactly due to how WoW rounds numbers but the numbers should be accurate to a + or - 5. It's real easy to come up with an excuse simply due to the lack of paladin group content because of the stigma they had. Hell, one of the guys on github actually needs evidence from vanilla to prove that divine shield actually prevents drowning and fatigue damage for those 12 short seconds.

    Paladin Bug Compendium

On the server now, there are times when the UI will not register/display the damage you do let alone exactly when you actually damage something. There are reasons for this beyond being just a "visual bug." Back then, visual wonkiness happened all the time. Having only sanctity aura and vengeance really cuts down on the number of buffs. On Second warder: 104 / 1.1 / 1.15 = ~82 - 48 (base damage) = ~34 * 8 / .33 = ~829 spell damage. Several of the paladins have pvp gear so it isn't beyond reason they have the gloves giving +20 to JotC and Libram of Fervor is a fairly common libram. ~829 -175 (Talisman of Ephemeral Power) = ~654 x = 187 (JotC rank 5 w/ gloves and libram, imp JotC) y = 221 (JotC rank 6 w/ gloves and libram, imp JotC) ~654 - x - y = ~246 spell damage minimum Without x the paladin would have to have ~433 spell damage at a minimum and ~514 at a maximum with x without any JotC improvements. Lets Look at the first warder: Sanctity Aura only. Obviously the 54 damage was an extremely unlucky string of 25% partial resists (72 * .25 = 54) 72 / 1.1 = ~ 65 - 48 = ~17 * 8 / .33 = ~423 (10 less than the minimum of the second warder) ~423 - y = ~201 spell damage minimum ~423 - x = ~235 minimum Using x without any JotC improvements you get a maximum of ~313 spell damage. 120 less than the minimum of the second warder if JotC didn't stack. Something at the very minimum gave 120 spell damage between the 2 warders and very likely more than that. Was it possible the paladin equipped even more gear to go another 200 ish spell damage? Seems very unlikely. Whatever, mathematical absolutes don't mean a thing to something that isn't OP to begin with...never mind, its just pettiness.

    Vanilla Paladin Questions

    1) If you know what you are doing any paladin spec is worth bringing. They all bring utility and a variety of valuable buffs, raid wide and group only. The only negative is the stigma people have against paladins because of the long history of wow and also implementations on private servers. Everything comes down to the composition of the raid, the people you play with, and where you would be most valuable despite what the min/maxers claim to be best for you (min/maxed raid setups aren't common place). 2) yes, very close to a 50/50 split give or take 1-2% at any given time. 3) When you hit 34 change spec to get reckoning and you won't look back. Use the sit keybind before an enemy swing and get free attacks. It drastically speeds up kills to anywhere from half to an eighth of the time per kill normally. As a bonus, you don't have to worry about mana too much once you get Seal of wisdom at 38. If you face hard hitters, use Seal of light and it practically erases the hits away. Hint, if you can, get really slow weapons around 3.8 speed if possible.

What would be the BIS reckbomb gear?

Damn, that's news to me. Used to do it all the time way back when. Maybe I was glitching? Or maybe it's the mechanics on the server? I used to lose stacks if I were to enter attack mode without being in range too. Had to be extra careful to not lose my stacks. I'm still reflexively not initiating attack without being in range.
  19. Whitewolf

What would be the BIS reckbomb gear?

Use a weapon swap macro. You take the damage with a shield equipped and then switch to the two hander when you need it. Plus it can be a nice surprise when a healer runs up to you with a sword and shield to blow you up. Plus you can take advantage of your redoubt some.
  20. Whitewolf

Reckoning Bomb - What procs build off eachother?

That depends on the proc rate. Using the doomsaw you will be missing ~43% of your attack power as damage (not counting crits) over a 4 stack swing because it has a faster attack speed. ~43% of your spell damage as damage unbuffed is gone also if you use SoR (you should). Also it does 24 damage per swing less because of the lower weapon dps.
  21. Whitewolf

    Cat/caster hybrid DPS

Cat druid only bad if you are horde. It should do fairly well as alliance as horde has windfury. Of course powershifting needs to be on point but overall it has the capability to be fairly competitive for the most part. Well except for those fights where the Rogue or warrior gets lucky weapon procs.

Retribution - give me back what's mine

Judgements stacking used to be a thing for certain. This was nerfed only for wisdom and light only (the nerf post only mentioned those 2). Right after the paladin revamp there is evidence that it came back from a couple sources, but one of those sources (the reliable one) says that light and wisdom stacking was eventually removed again. There is no evidence at all that crusader stacking was removed except for a patch note later in the TBC expansion that mentions that different rank crusader icons were stacking and a TBC beta video. Because they removed light and wisdom stacking they decided that even without evidence crusader stacking was removed by blizzard also. Basicly it's on a belief system at the moment. It's a hard call, just one that sucks when you as a person know what actually happened.

Holy Paladins in Leveling, Groups and Vanilla

Everyone wants healers and tanks. I've healed every dungeon as prot up to level 45 before I stopped healing. Heck I healed for a group in Uldaman with a level 40 tank and me being 38 (mob's get up to 44-45 I think). It helps having a good group though and knowing when to use Seal of wisdom (difficult but useful for that extra regen especially when you judge it). Using holy light gives you that extra oomph to buy a couple swings. Healing level appropriate dungeons shouldn't be a problem until you get into the 50s as long as you have an appropriate healing set.

Holy Paladins in Leveling, Groups and Vanilla

Or just realize you will drink after every pull and contribute more total dps than other classes. Consecration is a fire and forget that does 48 base dps per target. If you pull 4-5 targets you will be doing 192- 240 dps while it damages the group. Plus you can do your normal thing in addition to it.

Holy Paladins in Leveling, Groups and Vanilla

Until you get Seal of wisdom leveling holy is slightly slower than ret because you lose some damage. I used Seal of the crusader and fights only took about about 3-5 seconds longer. The bonus of using crusader is that once you get Seal of light, you can judge it for extra survivability while maximizing your mana retention. You do roughly normal damage at a 40% extra attack speed. Which remarkably similar to what you would do with SoC. However, once you hit 34 I would just recommend completely switching to prot for reckoning as you can get 2-3 extra reckoning procs for every normal swing with a 3.8 speed weapon. Use Seal and Judgement of Light to just never die. Or use crusader to maximize damage.
