Oh yes the huge problem of multiboxing (not allowed) that is so prominent I've seen a total of zero. All those multiboxers padding that number. . . Yep. LOL! Either there are zero staff online or zero goldsellers and spammers due to, you know, staff banning them. In any case if you were online at all today you saw the pop spike over 2k. That's more than enough to find groups for whatever you want to do. There is no argument for merging Darrowshire due to low pop. None. You would rather play your horde on a PvP server. I get that. But it was your choice to come to Darrowshire. It's also your choice to stay there. Taking away the choice of thousands of other players to remain on a PvE server so you can have your way is a bit myopic to say the least.

POLL: Do you want a PvE TBC server?

Right now there are 2.1K online. I hate to think what TBC will be like with 2 mashed up servers. -

Pieper replied to Guardian452's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Not twisting your words at all. You were pretty clear and it wasn't necessary for you to make your point again. Spending days trying to quest in Redridge because of constant ganks and dead NPC's isn't wasting time or griefing. But then that isn't about you. -

So someone who claims that being flagged all the time is fine admits that being flagged all the time isn't so fine. In fact it would be a "waste" and "griefing." Pretty much the same reasons everyone has given for not wanting to be flagged all the time. -

Nelythia... is this the same player who purposefully didn't flag while killing Booty Bay for rep? -
would anyone like to add me on discord and play with me

Which realm? -
How long will the server be down? Can someone point me to an official announcement?

Thank you!

I see no problem with matching premade with premade. That's not what you're asking for though, and that's not what's currently happening. In fact I've never seen any of you in this thread ask for premade or rank matching because you want competitive PvP. That's exactly what you don't want. You want "no effort" rewards and your singular goal is to roflstomp pugs. You want wins handed to you. You and your premade flag troll and farm the gy. Yes you do. And you want to continue to do so. Stop pretending your hand wringing is about anything else. You've become soft and spoiled. No self-respecting PvPer would ever call what you do competitive. They would barely call it PvP.

Predictions about population after TBC transfers
Pieper replied to Mahtan's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
I'll play both. -
I'm not saying there aren't toxic players on Darrowshire, but for the most part it's an amazing community. I have come across more helpful and friendly players there in a short time than I did my last five years of retail. People are always willing to help newer players with questions in WC or help others with group quests and so on. After you put the few racists and trolls on ignore it's great. If you want a good community, roll on Darrowshire. I can't say the same for Elysium so I'll just leave it at that. Also, is it my imagination or am I seeing a new influx of horde on Darrowshire?
-
As it is now on Darrowshire you can kill guards and quest givers of the opposite faction and not flag. This means players can go to Sentinel Hill or Tarren Mill or wherever they like and kill whoever they like and there's nothing anyone can do about it. World PvP has always been a thing on normal servers and this utterly destroys any hope of that. Is this intended? Because if it is it's terrible.
-
I'm not absolutely sure it is a bug. That's why I asked if this was intended.

Does anyone actually monitor the world chat?
Pieper replied to Gingerbread's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
It gets worse every day on Elysium. WC is full of gold spammers, racists and pedophiles. I really do wish a GM would make time to go online for an hour, just an hour, and go nuts with the ban hammer. -
More punishment for low-level murder

Where you can actually play. And when there are no low levels left to gank, you might actually have to learn how to play WoW. noob -
More punishment for low-level murder
Pieper replied to chuecopro's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Nah they're just rolling on Darrowshire. It's what I did after days of not being able to play. Lots of new alliance migrating all the time since playing the game corpse run is flat out boring. If you didn't get in at the beginning when the playing field was level you're pretty much screwed out of being able to play on Elysium. -
Is there a lowbie town where Horde get ganked endlessly?
Pieper replied to Habskilla's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Same experience here. I like PvP which is why I rolled on Elysium, but I also like questing, raiding, dungeons, and working on my professions. It came to a point where I decided corpse running and going up one level every three days isn't the way I want to play so I settled on Darrowshire. I'm not particularly happy that I don't have the opportunity for dynamic world PvP (or pre-60 BG's for that matter) but I wasn't PvPing anyway. Just landing and dying. Waiting for the quest giver and dying. Might as well be raid bosses packed in low level alliance zones. It was the most boring leveling experience I've ever had on any server, retail or otherwise. I see other people migrating to Darrowshire for the same reason. It's really too bad that people can't "gank and go" or PvP with their own levels but w/e. I'm cruising along on Darrowshire and haven't had any trouble finding groups so *shrug. The skewed lower level contested zones is also a reason why, with few exceptions, historically PvP servers have been horde heavy. Unless you get in at the beginning as alliance you're going to have to deal with some of this. Granted I've never seen it this stupid but all it takes is one horde to make an alliance player decide it's not worth it and move on. That being said, I don't think anyone would have a stroke if the devs implemented a cross server queue for pre-60 BG;s. -
Who did I say hated Elysium? Or do you mean I said I hated Elysium? Seriously, wtf is this? I am defending myself from his entitlement statement . . . what?? psssst... do you even proofread? By the way, claiming someone is entitled for wanting to play a smooth running game, free or not, is ridiculous. "Entitled" has been overused, misused and abused to the point that it simply means someone is mad about something someone else said. It's old. It's tired. Shoot it and let it die for God's sake. Sorry, but you are not entitled to claim you know what everyone needs and wants.
-
That's true. Bad analogy is bad analogy. But saying that because something's free means criticism is off the table is downright kooky. The OP seemed frustrated and understandably so, but he offered suggestions and wasn't out of line. Suggestions on how to improve things do not equal entitlement. For the record, most people would gladly PAY a monthly sub to play stable, legacy servers. The gaming population is not as entitled as white knighters make them out to be. Most of us just want to play a stable, reliable game that we enjoy - sub fee or otherwise. In fact, if Blizzard offered legacy servers none of this would be here.Unfortunately that's not an option. I understand that the folks at Elysium are doing their best. I understand that their funds are limited and donations would help solve this problem. I also understand that projects like Corecraft and other emulated servers that give gear, mounts etc. for "donations" as well as private servers being shut down have left the legacy community very leery. That's also unfortunate. But it's reality. Donations are most likely going to be pretty slim. Look, no one here hates the Elysium team. Quite the opposite. Everyone appreciates their time and dedication. But since donations probably aren't going to solve the lag/disconnect issues shouldn't other options be looked at?
-
It's free so shut up is a ridiculous retort. I passed by an old sofa sitting by the road the other day. It was free but . . . no thanks. And no, I'm not saying Elysium is a ratty old sofa, I'm enjoying my time here very much. I am pointing out that simply because something's free doesn't mean people are automatically going to want anything to do with it. Or should. Or shouldn't point and say, "Hey look at that ratty old sofa." Free isn't always worth your time. There comes a point where you have no interest in dealing with it anymore. Stability is important and logging back in after a DC only to have to take a gy rez because of mob respawns gets old. It chills the enthusiasm. I'm sure everyone's doing their best but until upgrades can be afforded I'd rather deal with a login queue than the lag and frequent disconnects. That;s certainly not an unreasonable thing to say.

Legal Ramifications of Running a Private Server 101
Pieper replied to Theloras's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
Well, yeah that's the thing. And while Blizzard puts all their expansions under the umbrella of World of Warcraft, one still can't go to Blizzard's server and play, for instance, The Burning Crusade. That game - the one millions of people bought and signed the EULA to play - just doesn't exist anymore. Blizzard would definitely win a case against someone emulating Legion. Scapegaming was running a current version of WoW when they filed a suit against them, after all. And because of this they were awarded a monetary judgement. But past versions of a game that Blizzard no longer facilitates access to or maintains or makes money off of (nor do they ever intend to) is another thing. -

Two things about this cast though: The defendant ignored the lawsuit resulting in a default judgement. Blizzard hasn't seen a penny of this money. -
Legal Ramifications of Running a Private Server 101
Pieper replied to Theloras's topic in General Discussion & Suggestions
It's actually not so black and white. Blizzard won a lawsuit in 2010 against Scapegaming but only for two reasons: 1)The emulator was a for profit site and, more importantly, 2) The defendant did not respond to the lawsuit resulting in a default judgement. When the defendant doesn't back away the outcome hasn't always been favorable for Blizzard: http://massivelyop.com/2015/05/18/blizzard-loses-case-against-gold-seller/ Blizzard has no desire to defend their EULA in court. It costs them money. Furthermore the outcome isn't guaranteed. EULA's have been upheld in some cases and not in others. It depends a lot on the state and the individual case. Some have argued that bringing a case against a non-profit emulator running a version of a game no longer produced would result in a resounding loss for Blizzard. Others argue differently. One thing that can't be argued is that Blizzard doesn't want to go there. So they send a C&D (which anyone can do) and hope it satisfactorily intimidates the recipient. We really have no idea whether there is anyone out there running a private server who's simply ignored a C&D and gone on about their business without anything further happening. No one running a private server would announce this since they have no desire to publicly tweak Blizzard's nose and force them into a corner and they don't want their players leaving. If I were a gambler I would bet there are at least one or two such cases. But who knows. As previously stated, this is legally muddy waters and changing all the time. https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2016/jul/21/digital-millennium-copyright-act-eff-supreme-court " . . .If you buy something, it’s yours, and – you can modify, configure, or use it any way you’d like, even if the manufacturer would prefer that you didn’t. But the law forbids you from doing otherwise legal things if you have to tamper with the DRM to do them." https://www.eff.org/victories?page=6 -
Yep. Can't even log onto another realm now. An update would be nice.

Same. Got stuck on authenticating. When I could log in just now, spells I had already trained for - gone. Items from disenchanting in the bank - gone. Progress on professions - gone. items I had just tailored for my mage - gone. The money I had spent on said things? Gone. I wouldn't call that ***FIXED***
