I am not sure what you have tried. Is it one character on Anathema or does it happen with a new character? If it is just one, does it happen if you clear the WDB folder and start with no add ons.?

Assuming that you are on Windows. Assuming that you are trying to run it from a decompressed file. Assuming that it is not in Programs. Launch it directly from the exe, not through the launcher.
